  1. I guess all u can do is go view the car and decide?
  2. Well e36 parts are in abundance and not too expensive I think?
  3. the temp sensor for your guage is lying by the looks. My 540i would get up to 110deg in summer and the guage stayed half way.
  4. Alpina a company with a great racing herritage... Function follows form... Of course
  5. Michael havn't you learned anything about Alpina!? Function always follows form.
  6. Fair enough hairy muff. Have edited the original post.
  7. Sure that wasn't attributed to the viscous coupling seizing in a locked state?
  8. 2x E39 Sport seat lower plastic seat covers. The ones that usually break. Passenger side is brand-new, Drivers side has one piece that is broken off, but can be easily glued back on and it will be secured like new. Black in colour. $70 the lot or $30 each. Identical to these :
  9. Depends if your car was originally spec'd with the board monitor option. If it was then ideally you'd want a 16:9 wide screen monitor but this would still work.
  10. Frisbee/Automotive art. Free. E39 Board monitor. Comes with rare Titan line trim surrounding. Good working condition, all buttons work. $100 2x E39 CD stackers. Both work but skipped over bumps. $15 ea Used E39 M5 clutch disc and pressure plate. Still some life left, or use to rebuild? SOLD. Used E39 M5 dual-mass fly wheel. Some radial play, not sure what is acceptable. No axial play though. SOLD. Parts are all in Auckland.
  11. Looks like extreme uv ray damage combined with general wear and tear. The seats would look as new with a restoration kit from furniture clinic. You could easily sink 5 k in to that example. More if needing mechanical attention. Would be hard to get over 20k back due to the kms.
  12. Hate when that happens! Especially when it's something you're pre ordering and you need 4 sets not 2 because you forget about 2 banks of cylinders. Ex oseas only.
  13. Today marks 100 years of the BMW AG. In prep for the 100 year anniversary drive with the BMW ccnz I spent about 350 minutes cleaning the M5. First clay bar and wax since the ocd treatment last November. Before : After :
  14. Fracture split crank shaft as opposed to con rods. Brutal.
  15. In before thread lock. SFD = Stupid f**king dicks.
  16. Possibly been thrashed. These engines can spin con rod bearings from a result of thrashing or it could just be down to bad luck why a replacement was needed. If it's been fitted with a brand new short block then consider it a bonus. 5k is steep for a clutch. Presume that would include a flywheel too? I'll bet u could source a clutch and fly o'seas and have a friendly mechanic do the work for 3k, if not less.
  17. Depends if the inner layers also are damaged. Best bet is to go to a repair shop and get some quotes.
  18. I like my manual. The only gripes are I have is that it's hard to engage second after a cold start and It will bunny hop in 1st if crawling along at idle too.. Nothing a bit of throttle map tweaking can't fix.
  19. This ones done itself a small mischief. Previous owner lived across the road. Had a broken headlight, bumper and smacked in guard before it moved on. Made funny noises before the prang too.
  20. 3x black and 1x white :-)
