Oops. Oh well, even monkeys fall from trees.

Truck wash. Was a waste of time, didn't move the caked on oil much.

They're red because we all know it's a scientifically proven fact that this colour is the fastest. Probably why the waterpump died because the pulleys spin faster than they're supposed to? Will see how things go after a new waterpump, luckily they're the same between M50 and M52 so when we eventually get an M52b25 engine we can swap it over.

Needed a few things for a wof. -inner tie rod ball joint -front brake hoses -front tyres So after getting all that work done, getting a wof and an alignment it overheated on the way home. It cooked for about 20mins all the way home. Couldn't find any obvious leaks aside from the radiator cap. I bled the cooling system about 7 times using all the techniques posted on various forums. No joy, but this evening I learned that the waterpump wasn't new. The joys of $400 e36 cars.. Wof'd Wheel Alignment The reward at the end of an early Saturday morning The reason

4G93 was the baby brother to the 4G63. Liked to throw a leg out with above 'mild' tuning. The 4g92 was the NA Honda B16a rival, the B16a which was released in 89' had an output of 99hp/litre. (Sorry Ron)

There are plenty of inherently flawed designs in the automotive industry Ronald. No one really gives a sh*t about one which only affects cold-start emissions. If this issue did affect the engine in terms of engine performance then it would be a different story.
-
Yep, no one should own or drive one as they will block up the inheritantly flawed secondary air emissions system..
-
All e39 m5's get the secondary air circuit in the heads blocked up with carbon. This triggers a fault code called : 'Minimum flow of secondary air' Google search it and you will see what happens and how to fix it. This does not affect performance so I wouldn't worry. Edit, some light reading : http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e52-z8-discussion/128129-secondary-air-system-carbon-build-up-removal-pictures.html The exhaust valves can get carbon build up which will affect performance but that is rare and i think is created by short drives and lots of idling.

E39 540 MS - Who would deal with this guy...

Beautiful colour in the sun! Well done Glenn and OCD!

Is it the same as most other BMW's ? 32mm spanner and a long flat-head ? :-)

No rush, won't be going in to the car until after the new year.

Am after a good running M52B25 from an E36, or possibly E39 but not the TU version for the 2kcup project. Preferably just the block and head.
-
Lots of drivers on our roads are prejudice towards the European marques. This a$$holes driving is an example of why.

Got it running. Intake manifold installation is on par with doing the passenger side valve cover on an e39 M5. Clearance and lots of stuff getting in the way. Did a partial coolant change, about 5 litres and bled the system successfully. Engine runs well at wot for what it is but part throttle cruising at around 2-3000 rpm yeilds some missfires/over rich mixture due to the original b25 dme. Only engine fault codes that come back now are fuel trim limit on both banks. Maybe time to just get a good b25 and sell the engine and gbox, which surprisingly doesn't go in to limp mode any more.

Could be worse, 85km/h in the outside lane. No f**ks given. Had another case of speed up to try block me in to getting in to a lane. This time a vtnz car. Also when a road is congested just ahead of an intersection, people still end up driving right up to the next car resulting in a blocked intersection.

What are your biggest pleasures of owning a BMW?

2000rpm to redline. -
So in another words a slightly bent M2 with demo kms on it can be had for 60 - 70k. Seems like a good deal, but re-sale would be tough with it's repair history.
-
Agree. For that price, I would expect a stack of receipts which include a full suspension overhaul.. Anything made of rubber replaced given the age of the car.
