  1. Eh, BMW's have cooling issues? Since how long has that been a thing??? If all it is is a waterpump, then I'd say that's as good as winning Lotto
  2. Correct, not the seal but the cover itself. Dealer hasn't been told. Was going to let it all go but a little bird told me I may not have much to loose by trying.
  3. Key and rocker cover are all I am worried about- spare wheel was cheap and the screen is just an annoyance thing. However the key and rocker cover will cost over $1000 to sort on what was supposed to be a reasonably priced car, and given that I traded a quite nice Motorsport 530i on it for $3k, I am not amused at how well this dealer has done out of it all.
  4. I have a copy of the CIN, and they were a registered dealer so I'm assuming MTA. Didn't think to contact them, I will. Thanks.
  5. Thinking about taking a dealer in Auckland to the MVDT, thought I'd run it past you guys first... Bought a E39 530 touring (Jap import, early 03 assembled) in early January. It came with a key that wouldn't remote unlock, a leaking, cracked rocker cover, no spare wheel, and a faulty stereo/TV screen. Didn't notice the rocker cover when I picked up the car, mentioned the key- dealer promised to get onto sorting it, and thanked me for informing him a new key would be required as they can't be opened to be dicked with. This key later fell apart and some glue residue indicated someone has tried to fix it. Dealer told me without prompting there was no spare wheel- I gave him BM World and Hell BM's numbers and he promised to sort it. Txtd the dealer about the faulty screen when we noticed it on the way back to Tauranga, he txtd back "Really???". And thus concludes any and all helpfulness from him. So... Given that I got no pre-purchase inspection done and did not purchase any mechanical warranty, is this a simple case of caveat emptor? Have I waited too long to take action? Would this complaint likely be successful? To clarify- I have been happy to spend money as and when things have failed- so far, top radiator hose, radiator cap, ABS module (okay, so maybe the size of that bill made me slightly grumpy), a wheel speed sensor. Servicing and new tires, all no problem. I also sourced my own spare wheel as I took the car to Masterton the next day, and that's a long way with no spare. My issue is with the pre-existing faults which despite the promises, have not been sorted.
  6. ^Neither of them are worth any more than the enormous puddle of oil under them I basically only drive on the open road so auto has always been the least attractive option for me
  7. The question is... can you source an IR sender unit??
  8. Windscreen washer hose. What have other people replaced theirs with? And rats. Little feckers have been gnawing on the 520's headlight wiring.
  9. My driveway is fine... thanks to that car Ha, we live on a metal road, so you are dealing with the hangover from that. Sorry! Does the towbar have wiring?
  10. Feels a bit like coming out the closet, but... yes I used to own a DC2 Type R. Didn't own it for long, I found it to be a silly car- quick enough, but you had to drive like a dickhead everywhere to get the VTEC action happening. Comparable in terms of quickness to my old CM5A Lancer GSR, but as the Mitsi got all 12 of it's psi at 3000RPM it was less frantic to drive. Would like to take an RS6- any RS6!- for a hoon though
  11. I drove an Integra with VTEC once.
  12. Where do you find stuff like this Brent???
  13. Th ones on Aliexpress look really nice Can you not use someone like Kiwishipping?
  14. Could consider using an ultraviolet dye or some such?
  15. When you don't check TradeMe for 5 seconds and a manual E46 320d with a cold start problem gets a Buy Now of $1500 added
  16. Kayne Barrie Motorsport could be a good place to start enquiries
  17. O.o Take a couple of days off, fly down and grab it?
  18. Have used Captain Transporter to get a car CHCH to Waikato, $300-odd and very good to deal with.
  19. You started it, Ash Ketchum
  20. My old one! Good to see it being taken care of.
  21. Lucky you, now you too can experience others who, never having owned a BMW, will come up with things like- "Oh, those cars always break" or "They cost heaps to fix" or,my favourite-" I know someone who bought a 318 and it blew a head gasket." Enjoy the addiction!
