  1. Began taking intake side of engine to bits, want to paint intake mani/ rocker cover, do cambelt/tensioner, waterpump, thermostat, rocker cover gasket, oil pan gasket, alternator belt, replace some of the stuffed hoses etc... FCP Euro is going to make some money. On a side note related to these stupid oil threads that keep popping up, the car had done 350,000km in Wellington before coming to me, with regular oil services but only getting what oil the service agent put in. It's IMMACULATE under the rocker cover. Take from that what you may.
  2. Offering now for 2k. Not bad buying, if it's your cup of tea
  3. New shifter bushes in the E30, plus clean up of all the trays and covers etc from gearbox to exhaust. Looks very smart now, shame nobody will ever see it
  4. The alloy shields under the E30. 25 years of crud and they clean up like brand new polished alloy.
  5. Sounds like a lot of work. You know Repco sells pod filters for $30, right?
  6. Interesting to see peoples take on this. If it was me, I'd be into the diesel 5 series straight away. You can't argue RUC is a hassle when you can buy them from the petrol station at 10,000km a time, at the same time as you fill your tank. And all that torque and economy...
  7. All of this just to look at some pre-facelift Lexus SC430???!?
  8. Noooo the mudflaps and towbar must remain! This would make the coolest tow vehicle ever for a rally car. Or race car. Or really any trailer.
  9. Damn I thought there was another open letter. So much entertainment.
  10. I would tend to share Grahams "skepticism" of the above statement
  11. Good as gold. I'll go and have a chat to my friendly local WOF man before I get stuck in then, just to see what's what.
  12. Thinking of ditching the power steering on the E30, the reason being I have heard it results in better road feel without any real penalty. My question is- is this legal? If a WOF inspector sees the rack blanked off/ looped, will the car fail its WOF?
  13. As Borat says... Very nice, how much? You could chuck a few of these on TardMe
  14. About the 2nd E39 I have seen in red, they look great but are so hard to find http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-906135681.htm Asking $4900, someones going to get a great deal
  15. Confucius say man who piss into wind get yellow knees
  16. I have yet to have a good coffee from a capsule. After figuring out that an anal retentive approach in the quest for the perfect coffee was actually ruining it when I did find an acceptable coffee, I have settled on the following low tech compromise- buy espresso grind coffee and brew it in a plunger. I like coffee but I'm buggered if I'm paying for the equivalent of a manual conversion in the E39 to get there!
  17. They have sent out a letter for all three cars to tell me how much it will be for a year. Looks like NZTA will be singlehandedly keeping NZ Post from insolvency this month...
  18. 3 week old baby going through a growth spurt... oops, wrong thread!
  19. That pile of Merc above looks like it has been left too close to the fire and has melted
  20. Not much call for 740i lowering springs though, aye. Buy a Civic and you'll get all the deals. Yeeeeeaaa boiiiiiiii!
  21. Battery charger. Some of the photos are old
