  1. Its all moot anyway- It would need Senna driving it to be competitive
  2. M3's are cool, but can get much better NZ new for 10k. Plus your mates would demand you hand in your man card after seeing the colour...
  3. 02 530 motorsport gets us over or about 700km each tank- we live rural so lots of open road driving. The best average for a tank I have had is 8.4l/100km Edit- Hoi!! What do you mean, good for the weight of the car- these things are light, they ain't no Comodoore
  4. Wow. Sex on wheels, I reckon. Good luck!
  5. Awesome thread, great that you are doing it all yourself. Sucks about the leaks but at least I know what there is to go wrong on mine now Have done a bunch of these things and so far so good
  6. Well take this example... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=832178790 I'll give ya 50c for it
  7. All good common sense, but what threw me was the note in the manual. Can't be too careful Looks like the rear airbags live to fight another day! Good to know 3 seats is do-able too
  8. I'm sure it becomes an attractive option when they become toddlers... but seriously, would an acceptable workaround be to just get in there and disconnect the airbags? Assuming of course that unlike some US cars made in 02, they are live at all...
  9. I have an E39 530i facelift, and our first kid is on the way (Woohoo!). I had a thought about child seats and rear side airbags not going too well together, so I looked in the manual. BMWs advise is to visit the dealer and get these airbags disabled. Knowing the E39 is used by many parents, I thought Id ask- what have you done to get around this prroblem?
  10. Experience is something you don't have until 5 seconds after you really needed it
  11. As above, I'd make absolutely certain the radiator isn't blocked. My car was displaying your symptoms and 10 min of running the garden hose through the radiator and the engine block fixed it. BTW, "so i went at it with a hacksaw" is just f**king awesome haha
  12. Its amazing, have seen this work well for lots of cars but come to do my own and it's being an absolute !@$%&* about loosening off
  13. I think it's fairly well documented that the V12 makes petrol disappear. You could consider an M44 conversion?
  14. Had problems with traction control coming on when the back tyres were nearly gone then I got a flat so put on the spare- so one 2mm tyre and one ~7mm tyre on the back. New rubber and all solved- I'm running the staggered fitment too. So it was the difference in tread depth that was upsetting T/C- but now it's on some of Bridgestones finest, much idiocy must be employed to wake T/C up.
  15. So what did you come up with, Arma? Have recently put semi slicks on, what a difference
  16. Huh. I always thought this long service interval thing was some kind of "save the planet" deal.
  17. Did this some time ago so can only vaguely remember but... 1. I do remember jacking it up. Cant remember why, we did a bunch of things to her that day 2. I unhooked the whole thing. 5 sec job, right? 3. Unless you have tiny hands, it's a good idea. 4. Think there may have been an extra bolt... RealOEM will soon show. I just cable tied it out the way. Have fun!
  18. Somebody thought it was a good deal anyway
  19. Nah you won't. You're scared
