Would also be interested to see the results! By the time you invest in a chip, induction, MAF, exhaust etc, how far is it off the cost of a M50B25?
-
Ahh I love it. If I didn't just buy an E30, I'd be on the phone to you. Hope it goes to a good home

Purple E30 next to my new addition. Thanks to AJ for sorting me a distributor cap, and some temperature senders through Pelican parts. Also got an ignition rotor off a guy on TradeMe. As you can see, the old parts were shot. Now the car settles to a nice smooth idle directly from cold, whereas previously it took a little while to become smooth. Sounds and goes just like a standard M20 should

From someone that has removed more E30 carpets than they should have, the best measure is to take the carpet out completely, as being an old BMW, it will more than likely be wet underneath. Then spray some degreaser on it, and water blast it for about 30 minutes in a methodical manner. After that, let it dry for 4-5 days, and put it back in. It makes all the difference

Expressing interest in exhaust if it isn't too loud, and possibly rims. Pics? What else do you have?
-
Nope! Would like to keep them for my other E30 if they don't sell on the car. Cheers

Wow. Now that is original. All it needs is some recaros and a manual

Drove back Nathan's E30 from Wellington to Hamilton. It was a quick and fun trip, the E30 is a weapon, although I was deaf at the end of it. I did however manage 7.8L/100km which is a bit of a feat considering it's a 6 cylinder E30 and I didn't shy away from the throttle.

Pelican Parts?

You get what you pay for, remember. Ohlins, Sachs, Quantum etc are mega dollar suspension for a reason, and race teams use them worldwide. Kiwi roads are potentially harder on shocks than some smoother overseas roads, so the opportunity to replace a single shock or get it rebuilt is a big plus IMO. I wouldn't look at importing anything at this level. Quality remains long after the price is forgotten. Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

I have only heard good things about XYZ and BC. IMO, worth spending that little bit extra to get a part that can be supported locally. When I was talking to Evan from Speedfactor, he mentioned there is excellent support for XYZ, including having custom spring rates etc. Can't go wrong IMO.

Why PFL specifically? A red 540i motorsport went for 8k not long ago

EOI: E30 325i Manual Hey guys, I think it is about time to move on from this project into something I’m more comfortable with giving a backroad blast. This has been my labour of love over the last three years, but it is time for someone else to take over. Have a look at my project thread for the progress pics, but I’ll have all major details here. Engine: M20B25 – 232,xxx km. Runs well, and doesn’t seem to use any oil or water. It’s only ever had Fuchs oils under my ownership, and I’ve just given it a service with new spark plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, thermostat, and once they arrive, new ignition rotor, distributor cap, ECU temperature sender, and gauge temp sender. It seems to get better the more it is driven. New fuel pump in 2010. Suspension and drivetrain: Vogtland springs in the back, and King Spring superlows in the front. Rides really well, and never bottoms out so I assume there are some sort of uprated shocks in there. It has had new brake discs all round in 2010, and there is plenty of meat left in the pads. New LH control arm, RH tie rod and rack end. The gearbox is a G260, with a new clutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder in 2010, and it has no graunches in any gears. It has a small oil leak near the drive shaft. It also has a Z3 shifter, with some brass bushes. Very tight gearbox. Body: Full paint job in Radiant Ebony Mica (28W), a Mazda 6 colour. The body was taken back basically to bare metal, so I can confidently say there is no rust in the car. It will need a good polish as there are some marring in the paint from a buffer. It has completely smooth sills + valances – the textured effect is gone. Boot is shaved. It will come on the standard E30 lip, and non-smiley headlights unless we come to an agreement. There were hundreds of hours put into the body. Working sunroof with no leaks or rust in the cage. Interior: Blue leather recaros. These are in need of a good reconditioning, but they are there. Blue carpet I put in a couple of months ago, with no rust at all on the floor pan. Working OBC with new bulbs. Crack free dash. Fusion headunit, fusion 5.25 inches in the front which are amped, and Pioneer 6.5 inches in the back. Mtech 1 steering wheel. It has a small water leak coming from the heater fan area under heavy rain. If I have time before it sells I will try and tackle this. Overall it is a tidy car, and I have all receipts of the work I've done on it. Sold 0273743684 Project Thread: E30 Build

I'll go against the grain and say that I like it! How hard was it to do the vinyl wrap?
-
I've also messaged the guy notifying him that it does indeed have an M20B25, but he seems to have taken no notice. Last time I saw it for sale it was around $4500 from memory. Still dig it

I can recommend Rototuna, although you have to be vigilant wherever you live. Although, probably no more than in Auckland at this rate. Can +1 on avoiding Nawton, melville, frankton etc. Also, Hillcrest/Hamilton East/Silverdale varies so much from street to street. Some areas are mostly families, and other areas are predominantly students and get robbed often. Try and get a map from the Hamilton Police about what (reported) crimes have been committed in which streets in the last month. It's pretty descriptive of what areas to avoid!

^^Bryce, those shots are mint! Love the car

Looks classy and tough with the Hartges. I have a 3mm slip on spacer on the back, which helps a little with fitment. You can get some 15mm bolt on spacers which will help there, but with those chunky tyres you're probably gonna get some rub.

Looks amazing. Good job!

+1 for dental holiday in Thailand. Flatmate's friends just went there to get some dental work done, and flights included it is still much cheaper than dental treatment in NZ. And you can also get some sweet tailored suits for cheap.

So my average has gone down to 11.3L/100km, which is a bit better I guess. That is with the mix of a long trip and around town, with the odd blat of course. I've ordered a new thermostat, and in the process of getting new temperature sensors for both the gauge and the ECU, to see if it will get the needle towards the middle. Will let you all know how it goes.
