    E30 325i

Good to see you made a thread Navin. All I can suggest now is colour code the bumpers and possibly all red the tail lights, and you're set

    Project 30

Looks good. It's nice to see easy and tasteful mods to make it into a tidy daily. Stick with the M40 IMO. I found my old 318i more fun to drive around the city than my 325i I currently drive every day. The good economy is also a nice bonus.
  3. Haha not in a second, that would be well over 100hp per litre if it were true. I just wanted to see if there was ANY truth behind his spiel
  4. Hey guys, Is anyone planning a Pelican Parts order sometime? I'm only after a couple of small sensors, and am not keen on paying $40 for shipping. Perhaps we could combine an order if someone is planning a purchase in the future.
  5. Trademe Hmm. Is this real??
  6. Why is this such a bad car exactly? It's more than 20 years old, it's bound to have had a history of some kind. If all the mechanicals are in good order, I wouldn't stress. It would be pretty good buying at that price edit: I do remember this car being for sale a couple of years ago, where the owner converted it to facelift. However, how the hell would you convert the rear of it to facelift? Look at the rear guards to see if it used to be a prefacelift.
  7. I remember the white one, from Christchurch right? I contemplated flying down and buying it a while ago, but if memory serves me correctly it used a bit of oil. I do love myself a nice E class.

Carpet isn't too bad to remove. I've been there too many times to count. Go see Kerry to see if he still has his grey carpet.
  9. Much prefer the other 1UZ E30 on Trademe at the moment. I wonder how much room there is for a turbo (or two). Mind you, I guess they do somehow put V12s into these
  10. Lucky you had a hoist! It makes things a bit easier. Manual conversion makes it a whole new car
  11. Are any avid photographers keen to help do a shoot on my car sometime? Good trademe photos for when I need to sell it. I'd need to do some paint correction beforehand though
  12. You'd have to be very content with your sexuality to drive a Cappuccino. In saying that, I'd have one, and they're easy enough to get up to 130hp or so. Either that, or a B18C converted Honda Beat... Anyway, back to mens' cars
  13. I refuse to believe that it can use that much just in gentle driving, and I don't give it much of a spirited thrash. I used to get down to 9L in it when I first got it! This economy is with a long trip as well. As for injectors - I don't think they've ever been cleaned, and the car has done 230,000km. I was meant to get some injector cleaner today but I forgot. How much did it cost you to get them cleaned? I've used 91 and 95, and the difference between them was minimal. It seems to run the same on 91 and 95. How do I go about finding out if I have any 'historic error codes'? Oh, and Brent, a few questions: How do I know if the temperature sender is faulty? Or has bad connections? How do I know if the AFM is faulty? And lastly, how do I check if the dizzy and rotor are worn? I'll give it a search here and the web in the meantime. Thanks all, I'm a bit of a noob with some things.
  14. Bought some supplies for a service. Oil, oil filter and fuel filter were all reasonable, but then the thermostat came to $50 plus gst. Ouch! I'm sure I remember paying like $30 last time I bought one
  15. So I have an E30 325i that I've been driving off and on over the last three years, but only recently has it been my only daily driver, and as such fuel economy is important, and it has gotten pretty bad. I'm talking 13-14L/100km. I drive sedately, with the odd blat up to 100kmh, and this is mixed from city and highway driving. The car doesn't seem to have any real mechanical issues. It always starts fine when cold, although it is slightly rough until it warms up. However, when hot, one out of every ten starts will require a few more cranks until it finally catches. Other than that, it drives fine with good power. Does anybody have any idea why it is running rich? I took the sparkplugs out and put some new ones in, and the old ones definitely show some evidence of rich running.
  16. I'd demand a refund with that sort of quality and poor service. I don't think Streetpro kits know what good word-of-mouth advertising is. At this rate they're achieving the exact opposite of the intended result
  17. I'll have to have a gander at your E30 sometime Polley. Seems like you're making good progress. After hunting from Repco to Supercheap to Dicksmith to Jaycar, I finally found some 6V replacement bulbs for the OBC at a cost of $5.50 each. Oh well, it had to be done, as it was one domino piece in a series that meant I can get my interior back together. After a bit of fiddling I soldered them in, and they work a charm. Now I can see my OBC lying to me about my economy Other than that, I put in some blue carpet with sound deadening meaning I can actually hear my girlfriend without her needing to shout. I just need some blue leather reconditioner to give life to my tired Recaros.
  18. Lucky for you it was only the elephant trunk! E30 leaks can be a total pain. My E30 used to leak either side of the centre console, but from the firewall side. I found that the seal surrounding the heater unit in the engine bay has shrunk over time, and water would pool over, and then leak into the interior. I have filled the area with silicon sealer, and it seems to have worked so far. It's raining today so I will have a good look to make sure it is fixed.
  19. Got an easy wof. Also tried on my friend's ACSs. Looks quite nice I thought. Managed to get a crack free dash and put it in. However, after I put it in an annoying sound started coming from the fan, so maybe something fell in. Sigh, I'll take it out again.
  20. Hmm, how much are you after for the carpet? Looks like some nice parts you have!
  21. Quite scary to see how the Plymouth was ripped apart by what was a parking lot accident. I do wonder how fast she was going though, 40kmh?
  22. Well, in any case, it's gone now! Did look like a bit of a steal, even if you did have to fix up a few minor problems
  23. Thread dig. It's been sitting underneath my friend's house this whole year, but I am planning on getting it out in the Uni break and enjoying it again. I sold my daily E30, and didn't realise how much I'd miss it. In order to be happy with it, I need: A new or good second hand battery Carpet with foam underlay Diff, as the one in there is making a whining noise. Still works fine, so not sure if it is bearings or whatever. Some buffing/polishing/restoring work on the paint. It has buffing marks and just needs some TLC. Fixing the infernal water leak coming from heater box/windows/door frames/hell A random cutting out/missing from time to time. I'm slowly piecing together parts, but if someone has any of the above (including advice/help RE paint/leak/missing) then send me a PM Cheers
