  1. Easy, it will have the same attributes ans the 1M, sporty suspension, LSD, wide wheels, better tyres, steering tune etc.
  2. We are looking at an in car camera for next event, any recommendations would be great. I hear Go-Pro are good.
  3. Like this picture of the team before we headed off, our race car, support RS250 and the Van with all the bells and whistles! Still waiting on the DVD from Goundsky. Entered Targa Bambina this week so its all go again in March.. witch is good because it will take that long to pay for everything and get the car going faster.
  4. I'm sure you have driven everything and know what is best so I trust your judgment there, I personally have not driven the new Passat or 3 series so am unsure. I trust they are not as good as the new BMW but I struggle to see where the BMW is 40k better than a Mondeo or Passat in both specification, dynamics or technology, its hard to see where the extra cost comes from as a potential buyer of a medium sized European car as our next car, its no safer nor fuel efficient, nor is it bigger, they all come from Europe so its not freight. 40k is one hell of a premium. If you start comparing what people pay for them in America and Europe you will see we pay a massive premium for them over here where other European cars only cost marginally more here than they do in Europe. If it were priced properly they would sell sh*t loads of them for sure! Anyway, its an exciting car, one that BMW need IMHO, its not a six but there is a lot to be said for new turbo BMW's!
  5. This looks like it is be quite a good car, one I think brings BMW up to date. I do fair it will again be too expensive in our market though, as tested that's a 28,000.00 GBP or $56,500 NZD car but will cost 80 - 90k when its here. As much as I love BMW's they really are no longer the premium car the NZ dealers price them at, it should be a sub 70k car in NZ to compete with the likes of the Ford Mondeo, VW Passat etc. http://www.youtube.com/user/autocar?featur...u/0/i-9xcwd6sY0 2.0 Turbo and 8-Speed DSG or 6-Speed manual sounds like a nice package, add an LSD and life is good.
  6. All good, have recently learnt that what you think are race and what is race are two different things! Race gloves are fire retardant and are longer covering the sleeve of race overalls, if they are any good they will have a FIA logo on them.. they would not be as comfortable as the ones above though.
  7. Very nice, very nice indeed. Just note they are "driving" gloves not "racing" gloves and are not a legal race glove. Have done a bit of studying up on these things lately.

    330, my version.

Love it. Red wheels look great, I did see a picture of this car on FB but didn't realize it was yours or recognize it as Joshes. I personally dislike dished wheels on modern cars so this looks a lot better in my eyes! If there is something that always bugged me it was the silver fog light surrounds, they would look smooth in black.
  9. This is a nice car. Wish I had the coin. Goes quite fast too..faster than most BMW's on average.
  10. Already have it. Nice work Tom.
  11. Wicked video and I'm sure you would you sly old dog
  12. 10,000,000 people think the French rugby team suck and yet can’t play rugby themselves. Most of us like to comment on how the All blacks can do things better. I was not commenting from a drivers point of view, I was commenting from a spectators point of view and can say he sucks hard, I also say it because it disappoints me that he is campaigning WRC when there are thousands of drivers that would wipe the floor with him waiting for a WRC drive, in the old days of WRC you got a drive based on how well you drive not how many shoes you sell, it sucks that motorsport at a professional level is dictated by money. He is modest though and can admit he sucks. Saying my mum could make an impressive Gymkhana video may be a slight exaggeration but your average driver could easily make a awesome video with a flash camera, a stack of spares and tyres, a specially built car and 4 weeks of practice compiled into a 120 second video. If you closed the lap top and ventured to a real Gymkhana event you will see 14 year old farm kids doing more impressive manoeuvres in 80’s Japers. I do love the video’s, they are awesome, I was just pointing out how bulshit they are, I have friends who actually thought that was done in one take and commented that he was the god of driving holding him in higher regard than actual good drivers.
  13. Love that stunt, crazy seeing an F1 car in the dirt :o Agreed. Anyone can drive the same circuit/course over and over again and get better at it. Gymkana is all about practice and more practice, his video has been cut so many times its just a joke, look at the skid marks from practicing on every shot Throw in some unpredictable rally and he is useless, f**k knows how they can afford their campaign, he wrights a car off every rally. Just shows all you need to compete is a cool hat and a sh*t load of money, Hayden Paddon would rip him a new one, hell he even beats him in a production rally car! Honestly, my mum could make a video like that with enough practice.
  14. You can buy blades that work at Repco so the same cost as any car.. the ones on my Rally Megane are 120,000km old and still work well. Parts are silly expensive, I am sponsored by Renault NZ and even still I buy parts direct from the UK for cheaper, its just a case of small demand big cost, in the UK the Megane out sells the Toyota Corolla so parts are half the price. We drove an Espace a couple of months back and it was a great van, the 2.0T in some of them has the same engine as the Megane RS only with a smaller turbo.
  15. Well done, white is a nice colour on them, I like the Blue also, the one we drove was blue and had black wheels and looked great! Regarding tuning down the track, that's something that's great about VW, there are just so many parts for them. I know the top ausi tuners are using newly developed sway bar kits from white line in the Golf R and are getting good results, I think fitting a rear sway bar alone would sharpen things up a bit... at around $300 its a economical mod and would dial out the factory safety net under-steer a bit. I understand the comment of limit too high to be fun, with a lot of these modern cars you really need to be going way to fast to have the same fun found at lower speeds in an older car, my 1985 Corolla feels extreme at 90kph on a back road where the Megane would have to be doing 150kph to get the same feeling.
  16. I felt the Golf R could have used some better and wider tyres, would make it a lot faster, as a comparison it had less grip than the Megane even with its AWD. The three door thing is a real problem with the new Megane, they have cut out a big chunk of the market with not making a 5-door version. It is selling well though, better than the R26 and F1 Team three does but not as well as the RS225 did. Don't have any decent pictures really.. have been driving it more than looking at it. Lunar Grey with Recaro's and full fat spec, has all the bells and whistles... the wheels are growing on me but are a bit bling IMHO. Sport Contact 3 Tyres are great though, dont think will se 10k out of the fronts though
  17. Meh im in love with mine, it’s great, such a fun and funky car with so many cool features, I can’t think of any brand new car short of a BMW 1M I would rather have, and we have driven a lot of cars! Regarding the looks, I don't know what your on about? You have seen one I assume?? It’s been noted in a few publications as the best looking car for under 100k and ours gets a lot of admirable looks, in fact it caused car accidents with driver looking at it instead of the road, I also have people taking pix of it all the time, love it! Howe’s the Golf R treating you, out of all the hatches driven that would be my choice if we needed 5 doors, was a great car around town and with the sports mode selected was reasonable fun on open road, just needed a manual gearbox to finish it off IMHO but if it was a family town car I can see how the DSG is useful. Was a lot different than our RS250, much more grown up.
  18. Have just picked up a new one of these and can assure you it’s as fast as what the figures sagest. It’s a silly fast car on technical roads with variable surfaces and this is where it leaves the conventional fast cars for dead, it is unfazed with ruts, dips, hills, gravel patches, it just glides over anything. What’s scary is that it is under steering at a speed most cars could never reach through a corner, anything doing that kind of speed will under-steer at a point, its called the limit, try and push a the fastest RWD you have ever driven to the same type of speeds and it will understeer straight off the road. The beauty of this car is you can simply lift off at any stage and it goes into oversteer, I can drift Hampton downs with more angle than most dare try in a RWD with soft cock power oversteer.
  19. Cheers Jamez and wicked time you posted there, both you and the car are very fast, was impressed with a few cars out there! My car was performing quite poorly with a fuel cut and well past throw away tyres, was less than a second faster than when it was a stock road car. Needs some more development on the rolling road and new tyre's, its making less power than it was stock and my terminal speeds show that so something is a miss. Either way was a lot of fun, especially when it was wet in the morning, surprised myself and my passengers on how well a FWD can drift that track, held it full opposite look all the way through turn one.. just don't ask me to do it again! Look forward to the next test day.
  20. Hey James thanks one again for putting this together. What are the chances of having a "fast" sessions with less traffic for people with serious cars wanting to test what the car can do?? Even if its one session for people lapping in the -1.20 zone wanting some clear runs for timing purposes? Need four laps to get my tyres prime and then a a clean run is all! Chur See you on Sunday.
