later euro spec e28 e24 etc m30b34 had 218hp 310nm 10;1 compression ratio later e34 e32 etc had m30b35 211hp and 305Nm . 9;1 c/r us spec e28 e24 junk had m30b34 with 8;1 compression ratio with about 185hp

ok so its a manual ? or auto normal 318ti auto come with a 4.44 small case and 3.45 if its a auto if you want to upgrade to a medium case you need a med diff from a e30 or z3 etc ratios like 3.64 3.73 3.91 or 2.93 etc depends what you are doing with the car , road or track etc , if road car probably want the lower numbers like 2.93 , 3.15 maybe 3.46 but you might have to get a diff made up uses gears from another model and fit into a e30 /z3 med diff case , you will also need e30 325i axles to suit ,some 320i may suit as well check the flange sizes call me if you want any more info

you want the later e28 style platform better suspension and brake setup also way better electrics etc

yea i have run these cars with pretty much no exhaust system , just the down pipes and they are not that loud

i would look at replacing the thermostat but check the fan viscous clutch is working properly. does it heat it when driving or sitting idling after a drive ?
