    E46 330i Touring

msport conversion and different wheels? xenon headlights? black grills
  3. hamann is a tuning company similar to alpina or ac schnitzer but this isnt a genuine hamann, just has a front lip and a badge/sticker on the bootlid. nothing special. the LHD on vin is probably just an error, its clearly a japanese car and hence RHD. still, not a bad looking car for 9k but non msport wheels, nothing special that warrants "hamann special edition" tax.

ah, forgot to check if its in AKL. not really worth going down for it I guess. see if the silver one checks out okay. its one of the cheapest ones for sale and if you budget a bit for maintenance items cooling system etc you should be alright. if the ppi comes back with a few notes you can use that to negotiate the price a bit and then you could do alright. the white one doesnt look so good imo, low kms arent everything!

Breakdown: 2007 Silver $9000 asking --> $8500 82kms, lots of scratches, has towbar, no sunroof, aftermarket multimedia unit, roofracks, 4 new tyres, new wof, one NZ owner since imported october 2016 with 29kms. 2008 White $7900 asking --> $6800 159kms, decent exterior, no towbar?, has sunroof, old idrive unit, roofracks, no service history, 4 owners + 1 dealer since imported in may 2018 at 139kms. .... for me, the white one is the better spec car with sunroof and in white colour and original but the high km import means it was a cheap car to bring in and has changed hands way too many times in 2 years so automatically its out. the silver one is decent especially with towbar, new wof and tyres etc and only 1 nz owner, essentially imported with very low kms but that means its been sitting since 2007 --> 2016 only doing 29kms. Either it sat in traffic forever or it could have a history of water damage from tsunami or accident repaired. I would keep looking unless you need to buy asap.. there are better examples usually (had a quick look and none at the moment it seems) edit: I think this one is worth a look. higher kms but has sunroof and looks tidy. if it has service history then it would be a good buy at $7000 less a bit of negotiation. its one nz owner since imported in 2015 and has consistently done 15km per year which is a good sign that its been used properly. https://www.trademe.co.nz/2843847731

they all drive well.. until they dont gut feeling doesnt mean too much these days haha. the lower kms one might still need all the same work as the higher kms one so it depends on your budget for cost of car + potential fixes. If you have to consider selling it in a couple years the higher mileage one might be hard to sell on but it might depreciate LESS because its already cheap as chips whereas the more expensive one might fall in value too. lots of things to consider.

I reckon if its 160kms, the waterpump and thermostat might have been done already, they typically go anywhere between 60-120kms, if it lasted until 160 thats amazing. pulleys and tensioners are super cheap and easy to do so wouldnt worry. I highly doubt any of the cars for sale would have had control arms and suspension parts replaced unless owned by an enthusiast or dramatically failed so you can budget that in for future upgrade/maintenance. does it come with any service history and receipts for parts previously replaced? lower kms doesnt automatically make it "better" so wouldnt judge on that basis. I had a 2006 325i E91 with 50kms new import and suspension parts were all gone, battery needed replacing straight away. must have sat in japan idling forever or rough life. PPI will answer a lot of these questions and ask them to check for suspension condition as well as other things like brake rotors, battery condition, belts, and most importantly if any leaking around engine/trans/diff/cooling system.
  10. yes, there is a post about it in the project thread

bm workshop grey lynn or east tamaki otherwise bellars in north shore should sort you out with ppi. these are generally reliable cars but make sure you budget for maintenance items since the kms are getting up there and may need some attention soon. price seems okay too

Not dreading it but dont think its required as car doesnt have stop start function and if i decide to leave ibs unplugged then more reason not to get an agm type afaik? i want to try isolate the discharge issue and if it is indeed the ibs i will know once i get a new battery and leave the ibs unplugged. maybe im going about it the wrong way but dont want to spend hundreds to replace ibs and a new agm battery for it to discharge and fail again in a short period of time

it is spec'd as AGM but have been told I'll be alright to go for non AGM and code it to the car as such. Car doesnt have stop start function and have disconnected the IBS so should be alright?

I got a quote for a Delkor non-AGM battery, 912CCA, 90Ah for $310 incl Gst. seems very well priced. edit: or these from Varta https://www.thebatterycellonline.co.nz/product/F18 https://www.thebatterycellonline.co.nz/product/H3
  17. Its probably easier to just find a replacement than to get it painted

Do u think if i replace the battery the electric stuff will magically start working again? Haha edit: also @Olaf whats tour normal idle RPM? Mine idles at 660 and the vibration is quite bad. Getting engine and trans mounts fitted next week to hopefully sort it but it seems quite low. If i lightly step on the gas and push the rev upto 7-800 its buttery smooth at idle no vibrations

Ibs disconnected but car still losing charge. Havent been driving it though because its started to lose functions like rear view camera, passenger window, sunroof etc. still starts up and gets to 14v but when its off its at about 11.5v. Had logged heaps of error codes mostly undervoltage stuff. Cleared it but the windows and stuff still dont work. Guess i will need a new battery..
  20. Oh right. But i remember mine was similar height as this on standard msport springs.
  21. That looks fantastic. its crazy how low these cars are from factory. When i got mine at first i thought it was lowered
  22. Im currently running a slightly older i5-6400 skylake PC but will probably move it on and switch over to the ipad air 4 to have a glorified expensive web browser
  23. Thats a good price. I got my last set of re003 from tonys using pricematch and it worked out similar
