Jump on e46fanatics and go through the showroom. There are endless styles and tasteful mods you can do to your e46.

Yeah I had to punch out the pre-pressed locations in the tunnel to do mine.
-
Awesome! The plate makes it look very covert hehe

Hmm not sure about e28, the shifter is a MK1 DTM shifter from AKG Motorsport .. their MKII's they sell claim to only be for 3 series cars. Maybe fire us a photo of the trans tunnel from the top Its a boss attached, none weld on. Still undecided weather ill run it because of limitation in availiblity of short e30 bosses ... Also a slight CBF in re-aligning the stock e30 steering wheel angle. Greased and installed !

going to be a hell of a car ... Awesome work! Are you going to use the firewall loom covers from the e30 m3 ? It tidys it all up really well.

dude just stop please

Just some maintenance stuff. Found it quite a fun process though from a geeky engineering point of view. Was driving the e30 around and felt the shifter get very sloppy. Though ahh well time to replace the bushings in the shifter mechanism. Drove it home and though nothing of it. Next time I go to drive it, lucky I was at home, the shifter completely disengaged and I heard a ding sound as the connecting rod dropped onto the drive shaft. On closer inspection, turnout the retaining clip had broken or disappeared at some point and one of the bushings had disappeared :/ That was the sloppy feeling. So as this isnt exactly an off the shelf part, I put the call out to some close car mates and one of them had a friend who is a machiest. So he turned up a couple of new bushes in brass, bang on spec. It turned out the old bushes after 5 years had started to wear a bit so its nice to have that new shifter feel back again Thanks to ray@hellbm again for the retaining clips, and getting me out of a jam once again Old bushing on the shifter assembly You can see the old bushing inner diameter is egg shaped. I actually dont think that was entirely cause by 5 years a of wear, probably more the pin being mis-aligned after the other bush fell out. New turned bushings ... Here is an old pic of it fully assembled

Sounds like copper usuage has realllllly dropped.
-
congrats ... looks like one of those cars is mates car he sold before he left for the states. If so, he kept it in top order.
-
Also Spark (New Zealands actual largets consumer of electricity) will be reducing copper landlines over the coming years to a much more efficient fiber. I dont think we will see the cost savings passed our way however.

Just grab the redline vesion from BNT. Its top of the line.

There had to be a cross over point. Emmisions standards = un-obtainible in certain circumstances. The only fix is fossel fuel technology isnt main stream. The time is coming for this as the masses switch to electric technologies. But im more worried about how substainible that is for New Zealand with already over subscribed hydro.

I wouldnt go as far as to say it will kill of desiel cars. If everyone steps back for a second and looks at the scientific results that lead the US regulators to find out .. other vehicles tested where bang on what they said it was, including BMWs desiel tech. The problem is that VW have been really pushing ecodiesel thing and have been sprung lieing and false advertising. Air pollution has nothing to do with the VW debacle, and its funny how mainstream media are trying to cross relate different issues to make it look like the same thing.

welcome to e30 ownership. you are now better than everyone else by default.

yeah the e39 d99 android version. Its old android 2.2 from stock. I have a 2.3 ROM running which has vastly quick startup times. But its around 1 min to boot android properly. The stereo side of it boots very fast. It is based on another MCU. When you hit the nav button it will switch between the two systems. I had a go on the AVIN system and it is a lot better for the money. I have been thinking about just converting a tablet into the standard frame. However It would remove the radio/stereo functionality. . Things might get better with the complete Android Car OS coming out, Im sure the aftermarket will jump on it quickly enough.

Its ok, if a bit cobbled together ... everything mostly works .. but I find that the company is more of a marketing company who hires in contract engineers to build a product, then when that product is over they have 0 support for updates instead adopting a model of sell a new product with upgraded software. This business model is hella annouying if youre a person whos payed a nice $1100 premium for effectively a stereo system and satnav (the two main things youll actually use in the long run) A friend and I reversed engineered the touch screen a while back as the driver had been 'baked' into the android build as a binary. We found all sorts of dodgy goings on with the touch screen hardware chip to software driver chain. The hardware deals with the resistive touch so badly it has to use a software smoothing intermediary before the android system can consume it. Also the android system is actually running on dev emulation software in the background on a WinCE board. Yes it all works, but explains a lot of the reasons why they can't (don't) upgrade the software. the AVIN system is a lot better but they have limited resources for developing new models of hardware as its 1 guy (m3evolution from e46fanatics) and his partnership with china.

BMW M6 GT3. In 2016, the BMW M6 GT3 will replace the BMW Z4 GT3, which has been in action since 2010. The new car is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which has been modified for use in motor racing. The power train has dry sump lubrication and generates up to 585 hp – with the whole car weighing less than 1,300 kilograms. Further technical characteristics of the BMW M6 GT3 are the drive concept, six-speed sequential racing transmission, and high-performance motorsport electronics. The aerodynamic properties of the chassis have been optimised in the BMW wind tunnel. The engineers worked meticulously to fine-tune the BMW M6 Coupé, which formed the basis for the new car and was already perfectly suited to outings on the racetrack. Priority was given to ensuring maximum driver safety. To offer the drivers of the BMW M6 GT3 as much protection as possible against the effects of an accident, BMW Motorsport itself developed and produced the FIA-approved safety cell in accordance with the very latest safety standards. The engineers also placed great importance on efficiency and ease of maintenance, as well as reliability, which is particularly crucial at the 24-hour classics. The development of the BMW M6 GT3 incorporated all the experience that BMW Motorsport gained with the car’s successful predecessor, the BMW Z4 GT3. For example, the new GT3 racing car boasts many improvements, particularly when it comes to driveability and economy. The positioning of the driver’s seat towards the centre of the car and the long wheelbase make driving the BMW M6 GT3 a unique experience in the world of motor racing. The net price for the car is 379,000 Euros.

Yep amoung other things if you installed the stand-alone mk60 ABS system you could do more too. Go up and get ray to take you out in one of his 20 modified mss54 e46s up there. RPM limits can be toggled along with speed limiters and lots of other good stuff.

Box up that pod if you can mate, will help a lot with IAT (intake air temp) cross map to retarding ignition timing. Also have a chat with Ray he can setup the throttle map on the DME to get some of the safe 'road' feel away from the fly-by-wire throttle. Am looking forward to the vids of this badboy in action

Have a read of this article I posted a few years back on the s54b32 exhuast system. Interesting they use the s50b32 as the test bed. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/27126-oe-e46-m3-exhaust-system/

I ordered the removable euro version and installed it myself on the 540. Did the wiring / trailer module install myself and made up my own plug. Works mint, cost way cheaper than NZ Westifalia and was a precision fit. No dodgy cutting of trim either / that doesnt sound right at all. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/48640-westfalia-detachable-tow-bar-hitch-e39-540i-motorsport/

Gauge starts moving from dead centre at 117c .. red starts at 123c. If it wasnt in the red you are ok. 109-110c is normal for a pressure cooling system. Anything over that is not normal.

Awesome Dave, keep us updated on progress with it.
