  1. well technically ... it can support a JB4 very well
  2. The charge pipe is the first weak link in the N54. The plastic collar a bit of a naff design. Go the alloy one and never look back.
  3. haha .. I think I can only manage doing this once every 4-5 months ... Yeah I think I'm going to attempt either plaster coating the hallway to smooth it out some what, that or texture wall paper and paint with a low sheen navy blue type colour.
  4. yeah it was a bit of a mission. Here is the first top coat on the walls, again excuse the camera work, got a bit hard in the low light.

  6. Thanks for the tips. I did end up spraying the windows after I sanded it all back, I actually found that if I shimmed the trigger I could get excellent and very detailed control of the spray pattern with the trigger. Also this was running the air pressure at full wack. For the walls I put on a little more material to give it the 'stippled' roller look (some mild texture). Would you believe that even with some silly high spots I cause by being too slow in one area, I could run the orbital with 240 over it then hit it with the spray gun again and blend with perfect results on texture and finish (low sheen shine) I ended up watering the paint down by 20% which worked a treat and yes I now understand what you mean about the cream consistency now. This is what helped me with it coming out of the gun. The great thing I found with spraying is you can get perfect lines and texture with masking. I found it worked perfectly. Overspray is fine if you 'bucket' the masking sheets ... Holding the gun flat then rolling slightly as I hit the ceiling work really well. Only complaint I have is if youre not careful when you pull the trigger the gun will spit a little, I just start spraying on the floor first the up the wall. I only had this problem on the wide coverage attachment. The finer detailed attachment didnt do this. Here are some pics of the masking I did. Excuse the 'pink and yellow' look ... I tried correcting it but thats the be halogens for ya Ceiling is flat ceiling white and walls are just undercoat. Final colour is a nice light gray.
  7. Very well done ... been waiting for one of these sort of builds for a long time. Your girlfriend is defanitely a keeper man ... totally impressed what youre both doing. Keep it up.
  8. Agreed, 200kph is quite quick and apart from old puke I dont think there would be many situation where you need it. Even Targa is limited. Jamez' 3.9x diff is quite fun with the 6 speed box. But its same as my 3.15 + 5pd in the end in a drag race. Nice not having to change gear over turn 3 in hampton and unstanble the car though.
  9. Just get a used trans, rebuilds are almost the price of a new one. Or just convert to manual. Hellbm has a new shipment of manuals that have just landed.
  10. X5 parts have an extra 'X' tax on them compared to say a 5 series. They're a heavier vehicle so brakes and tires. All other problems are the same as the 5 series of same architecture as they share the same components. While theyre the best of the AWD chassis theyre still a big car so dont float around as a car chassis does. But they definitely have their charm.
  11. Sorry try now. Have cleared my inbox a little. Think I might have worked out the mix ratio properly ... 20% water step 6 air and wound back on the material knob.
  12. cheers all Dulux Aquanamel Semi Gloss, after reading what I thought were the instruction, turns out there were a few more pages hidden in the warrenty cards. That and a dilution measuring stick. Will dilute down 10% steps and as Jules said keep testing on test surface until im satisfied its atomised enough.
  13. Sup fellas, So i'm renovating again, and thought it time I bought myself a flash wagner electric spray gun. Flexio 585 to be exact. For the kitchen, dinning + lounge windowsill I used professionals. They sprayed the windows with an acrylic enamel .Dulux aquanamel to be exact. I was really impressed with the finished they achieved, so decided to have a crack myself. The sprayer a bought claims to be able to atomise normal acrylics without being watered down. However I have just completed a coat and its come out quite mottled. Im waiting for it to dry properly to pass judgement. Does anyone else have any experience with this at all? What ratio I should be watering the paint down too. Ive had some average information that it should be 5% but wouldnt mind some concrete info if anyone has any.
  14. That is correct. We had it open for a while, we begged and pledded with people to resize their images. People didnt so we put the limits in place to stop our more internet challenged people from posting direct from their smart phones without doing some sort of resize and compression first. The limits will remain as the problem of camera image sizes has gotten a lot worse. The other option is a automated script that can run across images to resize them. But this brings other issues.
  15. The stock rear shock towers aren't engineered to handle both shock and spring load. You will need to reinforce the tower and brace it properly so it doesn't mushroom and stress crack after a period of time. A few of the older members on here have done it and can better explain it. I stuck with semi trailing arm and spring setup however put some ground control reinforcement plates and rear strut tower cross brace in because of my harder shocks, mine isnt full rear coil over however.
  16. agreed, second hand 17s unless special wheels price is 400-600. Tires are worth nothing.
  17. Question, did she say weather or not she was performing a u turn? or swinging into the car park at all. See where im going with this ... it doesn't matter where she is on the road .. they go you for performing an over taking maneuver and you argue the opposite that she was parked and pulling a uturn. The best you can do is push back on her insurance company and state she didn't indicate her intentions blah blah ... but it will end up in a stale mate. It sucks I know and you're probably gonna be left with the bill for the loan car. Unless they have insurance, which most only have 3rd party. Been there done that with this whole exact situation insurance companies are sh*t and will try it on. PS insurance companies choose not to take something to court for a minor fender bender ... its not worth their risk if they loose over a relatively small amount of money.
  18. No this is incorrect .. unfortunately he was attempting an over taking manoeuvre. The dice of it comes down to weather the turning car indicated of not. Seeing as it will be a she said he said it will fall back to the fact he was performing an over taking manoeuvre. Was in a similar situation a decade ago and it came down to a stale mate. Was easier to just move on and get on with life.

  20. Love the front camber + toe out setup. No understeer here.
  21. Ideally for best lap times in an e30 you should be looking at a 3/4 full tank any ways (so we have found on two s50 e30s so far, both with quite different suspension setups). Especially with a larger & heavier motor such as the m30. Westy isnt running a swirl pot however he is running a stock 540 pump setup on stock lines in a drop tank and it has plenty of give for the stock 4.4ltr FPR. In my car, at the time I was tracking it a lot with slicks. I was playing around with setup and weight transfer, at the time to stop my system leaning out with under 1/4 of a tank I put the swirl pot in to help with turn 6 @ hampton. On a road setup its only use is giving a small reserve if you run low on fuel.

  23. Factory fuel lines have a return. It needs to go somewhere. Normally in tank, but into the swirl pot to retain loop. Also it cools the fuel properly and helps keep cylinder charge temps down.
