  1. In New Zealand we had proper specced 'Motorsport' road cars, Other parts of the world called them 325i sport etc. In New Zealand & Australia we had cars with larger 51mm shock housings, , up-rated sway bars, limited slip diff with various diff ratios, Recaro Motorsport seats and interior trim appointments, MS Steering wheel, Motosport bumpers / sides / spoliers, 15inch basket weaves and the big one was black hood lining. All m20b25 engines and ECUs where exactly the same as the non-motosport variants however exhaust where sometimes different depending on options ticked. With the LSD and large shock / spring setup the car really came alive. Of course today when driving various examples it entirely depends if the suspension pushing nearly 30 years has been looked after etc. This was at a time when New Zealand and Australian touring car and street races where at the pinnacle of touring car motorsport. BMW did well out of it here because of the various series in both countries and the stigma that came with the brand. There have been various South African imports which generally are higher spec in the leather appointments and trip computers and long range tanks, however all of this stuff can be in the eye of the beholder. A great car that was sold here was the 318is always dubbed the mini m3 as it had similar handling characteristics however wasn't as quick. The (2.7ltr) South African cars you speak of are a different model designation. Built in the 80s for the motorsport series and designated the 325is. They came with 5lug suspension parts from the e30 m3, alloy doors and usual mtech2 motorsport appointments. The lowest price Ive seen for one of those in this country was 15k. That was when you could a tech2 for 8-10k. So times unfortunately have changed on that front too. There are only a couple of true 325is cars in this country. One of them a friend of mine owns.
  2. Do it shadow chrome... would look boss as. You could do two coats of matte black 1 coat of clear coat then thin bbs silver top coat with another clear to finish for maximum 3d apparence.
  3. You need to sync all keys with the car and activate one after the other to re-associate the lock-unlock function.
  4. I think hellbm might have a tech2 still? For around 15k mark. E30 m3 prices only dropped to 20k around 6-7 years ago. There are a couple of rusty ones around for that price I think but the Sellars have given up advertising them quite some time a go. Any ones that I would class as in great condition for collecting are floated from time to time at 38-45k. Mint ones 50-80k and special edition e30 m3s eg sport evo well north of 80k The true m325I are actually a wonderful car to own. They provide such a satisfying driving in standard form. Once you get over the fact that horse power isn't everything they're some of the best fun with your pants on out there.
  5. if you want a little bit of extra bite, getting a carbon organic clutch disc will help, just dont be a muppet like some people and not bed them in, theyre arent like a standard clutch as they have lot more resin in it. 300whp you're looking around 2800-3050lbs . I would just go 3k as its pretty much what they will get out of your standard spring.
  6. that maybe next on the list
  7. should be sorted now ... let me know
  8. telephoto lens never work well if you want something to look quick. Its the opposite of wide angle or fisheye which exaggerates speed.
  9. all good just code it to transport mode when she drives it

    seriously hawwwt
  11. Ponsonby on a nice sunday is very very funny driving the e30 through. They all hipster gaze the e30 then you just scare them off with a parp on the accelerator back on topic, am rage about this.. can the general populous stop killing techwans .... seriously, theyre pretty rare these days in good order. HellBM can only restore a few at a time .. and Ray doesnt do it for a profit. Starting to think there needs to be a BMW e30 motorsport licience / practical exam needed before youre allowed to purchase.
  12. We have one starting up in 3 seconds ...
  13. $700 is a lot of money for something you do with a smartphone and a bluetooth OBDII dongle. The only thing I see here is dashboard integration which you can do yourself with a spare smartphone. These devices don't get the BMW specific protocol which gives you a lot more than just stock OBD realtime values.
  14. I think we tend to put things on pederstools in this country, remember BMW and Merc are the commodores of germany.... parts are far and wide.
  15. hmmm m62s is pretty reliable. You'd be talking about the single chain m62tu which is a different story. Dont get me wrong either, LS is cool .. specially the 550bhp create motors for about 15k. which is a bargin for HP value on a new motor.
  16. Have a look at westys thread for his m62 conversion (toward the end of the thread) quite a bit of mucking around but worth it. Goes super well.
  17. I reckon roll rattle can primer gray for a while. PS, might pop up with the camera for a photo shoot when shes ready. Will need an excuse to leave the house soon.
  18. Yeah kind of wish the fonterra lobby group would stop messing with the official cash rate.
  19. but but but roading statistics show that its alcohole and speed that are the relavant issues in NZ. Or so the traffic safety media machine will have you know with their tunnel vision statistics PS I 100% agree, evedence can be seen when it rains decently on the motorway, watch everyone slow right down because their tires are just not up to scratch to handle a small down pour.

    My new car

bigger injectors in the end ? Also .. need some photos of the under bonnet again pls
  21. Only negatives for me and its because of the z3 m-coupe rear trailing arms is that I cant use low ET wheels (eg 5 series, 7 series sized wheels) .. anything under et30 is a no go for my rear wheels. Fronts have to have spacers because of it, but all good. Plenty of mid-high offset wheels out there so all good.
