Was owned by a Chinese fella who resided in the AKL CBD. Its old number plate was M3 GTR. The car use to have a ASC front lip in Carbon fibre until he broke it.. It was in at Precision Autowerks getting repainted the same time I did my e46 body conversion on the 330

Painted moldings on a car with moldings is quite an old thing to do yes. If the car has bumper moldings I personally think it looks best left alone. Looks more factory and none messed with. Each to their own but 5 and 7 series vehicles are not a 3 series and done come with coupe / m3 moldingless bumpers on an e39esk shapes. -
Local film makers are only interested in chasing grants half comedy movies in NZ. As a country we really should be celebrating our world achievements more by doing films about out great sports / inventors. Burt Munro's movie was quite cool.

Go nuts http://www.schmiedmann.com/3_series/E30/Eq.../page4.htm#1695 best place / price to get them

200 is cheap ... The OEM 5 series ones are 350 each ! They do last 10 years however.

I was up in the Far north one time lining up for ice cream when one of the locals with a rather mint looking HSV, just drives hard up onto the curb at full speed with his mates. Jump out, get some beers then drive off hitting the curbs again and again .. People who do this sort of thing dont really care about much in life let a lone the car they just stole.

Anything from about '96 onwards and has a newer gen DME hopefully. Havent got to MS43 yet, but im sure it supports the message system I need write the diagnostics for it.
-
Should have my system for testing this sorted very soon Am writing a specific diagnostic page at the moment for VANOS including a warning system. Will sort it for MSS54/S54b32 soon too. PS .. just emailed you some pics of the prototype Tom

Hmmm japwarnutspecnothing car. Id sell my gen NZ new motorsport with a lot more goodies and a black on black engine, new gearbox and full cooling system over haul for less than that. Engines only just hit 100ks too -
Kick some ass Brian, wishing you a speedy recovery mate!

Get an engine out of the US and change the emmissions and headers to get your 343bhp back, unless you can find a wrecked e46 m3 around .. prices are around 13-15k for a s54 here. Rebuilding might be a better option, Hit up ray/hellbm (forum sponsor) for probably the best rates on labour around.
-
Nice one! Are you using the stock connecting rod. There are quite a few different types. I used some random bent looking one found at rays, had to modify the connector pins legnth on one of them ... was all good after that

Welcome to the club .... a f**k ton better for the s50 and actually lets it rev with out that triquel feeling.
-
Nice car, needs a much better suspension package for the money asked though.
-
Late 1998, however check that the car you look at is infact a 98 onwards using the VIN number and realoem .. dont just go off the date on your rego, they can differ from the actual BMW production factory date. Just becareful when making judgements that VANOS is healthy on each example .. when it stops working properly .. its like towing a loaded trailer in difference.

Have owned both. The 330i is an excellent car for gas consumption vs power with most of the modern comforts added. Both are great open road but I would say the 540 is a lot more comfortible to drive. If youre looking at a non TU 540 motor then the it will feel about the same as a 330. However the m62b44TU (face lift 5 series) motor is a lot more powerful than the m54b30 (3series) I recently drove a 330 and coming from the 540 it felt like driving a 320. However, if you drive city 90% of the time, who cares? .. you save more on gas. For fun, the 330 is the winner here, however a proper motorsport 540 will down trail a standard 330i with none motorsport suspension setup. In honesty, I much prefer the 540i .. not because I have one now but because I've grown up a little bit and the days of hooning around in my daily for me have gone. I prefer more comfort and space, and power. (I have the e30 for weekend drives) However for my 20s I loved the 330. It allowed me to hoon around more and was a more FUN car to drive on the edge. It all really depends what youre after.

Nice one. Good to see it go to a Bimmersporter and even better to one that is restoring it to its former glory. I truely hope you enjoy every moment of it and dont forget to bring it a long to the odd meeting if possible.

Thats not how it works unfortunately. The MCU in the cluster writes directly to a small ROM chip which doesnt require a battery to hold the memory state. As others have said, could be a number of reasons also including directly reading and hacking the ROM data and re-writing it. Requires some specailist knowledge and the right hardware to do it however.

Might be one for the gangs.
-
you will notice it will be a little bit firmer. Youll also have to start looking out for pot holes at 35% profile as they will damage the tire wall. Also youll have to run more air pressure in the tire. Minimum of 38PSI to avoid issues with objects / minor pot holes on the road.
-
Good Now tell them to join up on bimmersport so we can say it went to someone in the family
-
Those are rep wheels and not M5 wheels. Again check for weight / qaulity issues before you run off and buy them. Will just be a down grade otherwise.

Yes! Really enjoyed that thanks, Im quite stoked someone made a video with the same philosophy I have about a road car. Why cant you have some thing that does all things well? Track / Road etc.
