Went looking for why the s50 is running rich, found O2 boss is sitting out too far and both sensors aren't in the exhaust stream at all. Time for some reweld work.

This is what I run in the s50b32 / 5speed ZF with billet single mass and for NZ weather no chatter only on the hottest days after a 1 hour spirted drive or if Ive been going around the track. You wont notice any 95% of the time and certainly not daily driving. The mix is all Redline 75w 140NS .. top up with MT90. Must be NS because of the MT90 friction modifiers take care of gear lubrication underload. Other benefit is its not stiff during winter/colder temps Single mass is so much better, it turns your ok engine into something some much more alive. I drive normal S50's now that run dualmass and they feel slow. Here is a link to mine. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....st&p=307725

Valeo alternator for S50B30 (for E36 3.0 Euro M3)
hybrid replied to swordfish's topic in Want to buy
All I did one time when I was having issues with mine not charging in the s50b32, was go through a bunch of m50/m52/m54 ones and none of them fit. In the end I opened up the unit and it turned out to be some shorted out wires... corrected that and it was all good. Not sure about aftermarket sorry. -

Brents onto it. It mainly dependant on your compression ratio of YOUR engine. The DME will adapt to compensate however you can easily get out of range or worse knock / leaning out using the wrong fuels for what the combustion was designed for. Fuel consumption is subjective as well. As a lot of factors can come into play such as bad O2 sensors, bad fuel filter, bad injectors etc.

yeah, mounting points are different. -
Sweet, question #2. How is it then called top qaulity when it is not?
-
RON number or bust Z. ZX doesnt mean sh*t to anyone
-
naughty naughty ... s54 needs at least 98 RON because of its compression ratio.

20k usd will get you 2x s62b50 and 6 peeds to go with it.

yeah, as it was I had to rotate and shave my 6, 1,2,3 from the block flanges. Managed to keep the stepped expansion chambers shape and length intact but my number 6 I had to do a few more angles to get it to the collector. Have since found from data logging it hasn't messed with it too much as far as adpation compensation is going. But then again mines running too rich due it seems removing the emmisions pump and not running cats. Software is still stock. Must change that asap
-
Not it you want to keep the length and expansion chamber size the same on stock s50 headers. For these s50's in NA form messing with the pipes too much really buggers up the mid range. Unfortunately many have tried to improve on the design and in stock form haven't been able to tune them properly without giving way to some other compromise.

The goldern days of BMW design have defanitely been well and truely stomped out over the past 5 years. IT will take a new head of design for that to happen. The BMW board wanted to make a statement when the hired Chris Bangel .. it might have been a little too much change for the conservative car manufacture. When Van Hooydnk was hired, he had a simple design portfolio from the board, evolution not revolution. Which is why some of these cars are starting to look very same same. At least theyre not heading in Mazda's way of doing things where everything looks like a manga cartoon.

Its raced in aussie and NZ in the F5000 class. These cars where the predecessor to F1 cars. The class started in the 60s and continued in various forms right up to '82. This class is where all of the greats started such as Bruce McLaren who started McLaren F1. Its quite funny when you think about how big F1 is and that this class was run in the UK, SA, Aussie and New Zealand. The UK went on to form F1 from this after F5000 class calapsed and the rest is history.
