  1. Yeah I've got the grill apart but I'm not sure how to remove the chrome trim from the actual grills without snapping the clips. It doesn't look like they are meant to come off. If I don't find a solution I'll probably just snap them off, paint them and then super glue it back or something.
  2. Yeah, they have started chipping so I want to Plastidip them black for shits and giggles. Have also done the chrome surrounds on the headlights which have started rusting.
  3. If it was a SE, it might be this guy... There was a very wealthy gentleman in the UK who bought his sons a few brand new cars ( 2 x E30M3 Sport Evo, Ford RS200 and I think a couple of the hot rod Mercedes 190E's ) that sat with delivery miles until last year ( or 2012 ). A guy ( a car collector ) who was introduced to him in the 90's, after being told about the cars by the owner, said if you ever want to sell them, here's my number. The guy received a call out of the blue and ended up buying them on the spot. He kept a couple of the cars I think, and was selling off the others ( he bought a few cars iirc ).
  4. The Chinese parents fund club.
  5. Why are Asian imports seemingly "tainted"? Last time I checked, the cars are still all made in the same place.
  6. The E36 has been somewhat unloved as it was sandwiched between 2 generations of M3's which were ( rightly so ) raved about by both the press and owners. They've also suffered from tales of been under-engineered and basically 328 shells with some M-bits stuck on. I think their "status" is catching up with how good a car they actually are, and values are rising.
  7. Congrats. Have you got the E31 lined up?
  8. It's I, II was only for the M3 IIRC. And i'm pretty sure it was only on the very early cars.
  9. There is nothing wrong with SMG, I like it, but SMGI (which is what the poster was talking about) is pretty horrible and can be hugely problematic, especially compared to the much improved SMGII. There is no way in hell i'd take a SMGI equipped E36 over a Manual.
  10. Gold BBS or gold split rim Simmons?
  11. I'm sure it was for sale at Team BMW for more than that ( about 6-7 years ago ), a very buyer sensitive car.
  12. Need to get rid of a smell from a seat and it's foam. I'd normally suggest removing the seat, lighting it on fire and just going without a passengers seat. But as it's the girlfriends car, something less drastic is in order. I poured water on it to hopefully dilute the original liquid, but it's definitely gone into the foam.
  13. Nothing better than velocity stacks. Yikes.
  14. Why not just buy a shitter that you can beat up on? Any FWD station wagon would do the job.
  15. As someone who also has to pay the bills to run a Mk3 Polo, "living with it" about sums it up.
  16. My mum has had a 3.0 for yonks. Don't think anything has ever gone wrong with it ( apart from the time when my nephew locked himself in the car and managed to get his head stuck, which caused my parents to panic and cut the roof open to unlock the doors ). The steering is heavy, it bangs and crashes over bumps ( hers has the 18's and low profile tyres ) and tramlines like a bitch. But I drove it all around the North Island and it was a great roadster.
  17. Mine has started shuddering over the last couple of weeks when cold, goes away after a few km of driving. Can the colder weather effect it? Is there a leak that's letting in moisture or something? I've only been driving it once a week.
  18. You might want to post some photos.... Heck, after 5 months, even a sketch.
  19. Does anyone pay attention to what NZ reviewers say?
  20. Been for sale a while.
  21. There's a stroked 2.5 on trademe. Manual with some decent mods. It's not factory original though.
  22. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the owners of the "original" Lightweight E-Types buy these to race, and move their originals into the garage. The original cars are worth 4-5 million pounds, these newer ones will be significantly less.
