I have a good viscous fan from an e46. If it fits you can have it.

Please Ron don't kill another thread.
-
Ron, you should be comparing the v8 motors not the 6's.
-
What would be interesting would be a lab test of the different manufacturers of 98 fuel. Sure, there would be fluctuations depending on different batches but a good enough test with enough samples would average that out. I've always run Gull 98 in my beemers since I've owned them, and now I'm a little nervous.
-
Thanks Glenn. What do you mean by 'their vehicles don't like it'? I'm genuinely interested, cause I will switch if my cars will respond better. Nathan
-
Thanks Glenn, could you expand on that? Why is Gull or blended fuels bad?
-
What are the differences/benefits of 98 petrol (BP I think?) over 98 petrol ethanol mix (Gull)? I always use 98 from gull because of the price and its close to my house, but I will definitely switch if there is a better option.

How did you rebuild the disa? I thought they were damaged if opened/disassembled.

What items needed to be certed?

Nice car Matt. Does she not get driven much?
-
Got the engine, gearbox and exhaust out of the parts car today. In a few weeks I will have stripped the rest of the car and taken it to the scrap metal.
-
Yea, I cant wait for this. I gave up on the new top gear about half way through the season.

This might be saveable so I thought I would post it here in case anyone is interested; http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/wrecked-cars/auction-1162859707.htm

Thank you for the kind words Richard. Good luck with the spring and stereo installs.

There are many threads online as this is a very popular diy and very simple to do; http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=884299 It made both my cars quieter, lighter, and the accelerator pedal slightly more responsive. Because it removes parasitic drag on the engine it is supposed to slightly improve fuel consumption too. Another plus is that it removes the chance of the 'exploding fan' problem, which are known to explode and take out the radiator and put dents in the bonnet. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?781493-And-BOOM-it-went-thru-my-hood!

Did the fan delete mod on my other e46. This is the best mod ever, and both my cars have it now.
-
Chin up Glenn. More people appreciate you than you possibly realise. I came to see you today, but you were probably down at the pub.

What was the headlight fault?
-
As Brent said, it will need valve stem seals and timing chain guides done, which is about $1K if you do it yourself, and much more if you pay for a mechanic to do it. Its just not worth spending that kind of money on that engine.
-
Yea, project car only. Would want to swap in a different engine and manual box. Alternatively if you get it for $500 you could just drive it into the ground.
-
Don't buy any bmw with a n42 or n46 engine.
-
Haha, Ive done that a few times. Let me know how you get on with the heater rad swap, as I will be doing mine in a week or two.

Heater radiator?
