  1. How much weight do you think you will save with the panels being aluminium instead of steel?

Wow those seats came up nice.
  3. I live in Otahuhu near the southern motorway if that helps.
  4. Great to meet you and the car today. What a fantastic build.
  5. Avoid the 320i like the plague as it has the worst motor bmw ever made. It will empty your wallet faster than you can blink.

The inside of the wheels look amazing. Have you installed the new brakes yet?
  10. Oil filter housing gasket. If you change this you will want to buy new crush washers for the vanos line as well. If your M52 has disa, check it, and replace if faulty. Also check pcv and replace if faulty. The hoses to the pcv are plastic and brittle and get clogged with oil, so worth replacing if replacing the pcv. A faulty pcv left alone will give you more oil leaks on other parts of the engine. The intake rubber boot (13541705209) often splits and is worth replacing if its worn. While you are in there, and have the disa valve out for testing, clean the throttle body and icv. I replaced the other rubber boot too for piece of mind. Clean maf. Replace the fuel filter if its original. Also replace the tiny bits of rubber fuel hose on it which you can just buy locally. Spark plugs with NGK BKR6EQUP. Air filter if needed. Cabin filter if needed - I recommend the carbon ones. Check coil pack boots are not cracked or damaged and replace boots if faulty. Replace rubber grommets in rocker cover bolts if compressed or worn. The rubber becomes compressed and no amount of tightening will seal the rocker cover properly. Replace radiator bleed screw if damaged or worn. There is a aftermarket brass version which is much better than the crappy plastic one. All I can think of for now.
  11. You are better to split your order into 2 so you dont pay gst, duties, and get it delayed at customs. Make sure both orders are under $400 nzd including shipping to avoid this.
  12. What kind of laptime could this put down? Faster than a v8 supercar?

*555 - is it worth it?

Better to always ring 555, as you don't want the reckless or drunk driver to cause an accident the next time where the outcome may not be as fortunate.
  14. So I'm slowly assembling parts for my e46 v8 project. I've acquired front and rear 330i brakes and calipers; Fronts are 325mm x 25mm with a 57mm diameter single piston caliper. Rears are 320mm x 22m with a 42mm diameter single piston caliper. My plan is to use them, along with braided brake hoses and performance street pads. My question is, will that brake package be enough for an e46 wagon with a 300 odd hp m62b44 in it? Will I fail the certing process on account of brakes not being big enough? The car will just be used for the street, with maybe the odd track day every now and then. I'm not a fast driver. Any advice appreciated.
  15. Yes, I do have the engine.

    Breakdown

Is the viscous fan still intact? Occasionally these explode and take other things with them.
  17. I agree with you 3pedals on everything except the pizza. And for all their huge range of foods, they don't even have individual pies.
  18. If you have the n42 or n46 motor the valve stem seals will fail. This requires a top half motor reconditioning. Dont ask me how I know.
  19. E46's are good cars but avoid the N42 and N46 engines at all costs. The earlier E46 318i had the M43 engine which is fine. The six cylinders are by far and away the better engine though.
  20. Are you going to clean the injectors yourself or are you going to send them away to be done?
  21. Diff sold. Front subframe sold. Rear subframe sold pending payment. Only big things left are motor, three doors and bumpers. A few small parts and bits and bobs too.
  22. zf box is much better than the getrag. You did well.
