    E46 330i Touring

Tbh the 330i has enough power for me and the running I’m doing, it’s not that much better on gas either (12.5L/100km compared to 15L/100km round town) Will always miss the torque of the V8 and less road noise in the sedan without fold down seats but I think the biggest difference is the steering. The E46 is just so much more responsive and it makes the car feel nimbler. Also I don’t have to buff my headlights every week and touch wood I don’t have any weird vibrations yet.

    Found some M54 buddies.
  3. I didn’t use any RTV from memory, I used a Victor Reinz gasket on both upper and lower pans. My issue was with the valve cover gaskets and vanos solenoid gaskets which seemed to only last 12 months before they started leaking again ☹️
  4. Hi, im looking to buy an E46 Msport steering wheel with multi function control. I don’t necessarily need the air bag. Anyone got one knocking about? Would need shipped to Wellington. cheers, A

If your car was a touring I’d say yes.

WOF passed with the same note i've been getting for the last 5 years that there's a bit of play in the steering rack (which there definitely is). Finally took it out for an errand run, had to remember how to change gear. Steering wheel had gotten a bit dry so gave it some mothers conditioner. This car has been converted to R134A by the previous owner and I'm glad to say the recent aircon gas up has worked a treat..it's not that warm in Wellington but these cars are such glass houses they really heat up in the sun.

Owning both an E30 and a 330 (albeit touring) I think the same thing!

217,700km Fuel filter replaced. Probably should have paid someone to do this as it was a real PITA on my back in the driveway..but anyway. Replaced the soft hoses too, feel good item that I've been wanting to tick off for ages. upon the start up test before I put the cover back and dropped the car I had fuel pissing out the front hose as the clamp hadn't been done up tight enough...what a smelly mess. Original looking filter. I replaced it with a Mahle one i got from FCP....should be good for another 200,000km
  9. Can’t remember exactly but 125,xxx km. Only done 850km since last WOF which is abit of a shame. Needs a good hot run!
  10. I just got mine WOF’d today too. Even though they are in good condition you just never know what they are going to pull you up on. I can’t go to VTNZ because my VIN number is in the system as the chassis number and they fail Me on that….and I’m too busy/lazy to drive to Porirua and point it out to them.
  11. looks fantastic! +1 for Koni & H&R. I have the E90 tophats in my sedan that are suppose to give a few more mm drop, but looking at your photo it looks pretty similar
  12. I got close to 30,000km out of RE003/S001’s and they performed superbly for daily driving on my 540. Think I paid $1100 on one of those buy 1 get one half price deals they run.

    Side Mirrors

The mirror selector switch has to be set to the right side mirror (I think) or it won't tilt. It also could be broken, a scan would tell you if it's broken or not.

217,100km New tyres. Went with Continental Max Contact 6's all around 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear. They were on special at Tyre Clinic and as all tyres the online reviews were mixed and also from Aussie so hard to really gauge what that meant for NZ conditions. In the end it was between the Conti's, Potenzas and PS4's...since this car mostly has at least 1 child, if not two onboard at all times it seemed I wouldn't experience the higher performance of the more expensive tyres anyway so I went with the cheaper option and with the few km's I've driven both wet and dry since having them I am delighted. Quiet, grippy and comfortable. I'm guessing they won't last very long but thats ok for now (probably won’t feel this way in 12 months). The car is so different with the new tyres , I really can’t believe the transformation.
  16. I have a 1/2” Hazet that I got from pelican, A Toolpro 3/8” from super cheap and a random 1/4”. They are all fine for DIYing and if I were to do it again I would still want all 3 but I’d go for the Teng’s.

216,9xx km Gavin at Euro-Italia supplied me with a high pressure hose and some new washers. Not sure what the brand is but it says ‘Germany’ on it. This wasn’t done during the engine swap as the original engines one looked good. Wasn’t till later and I was doing the vanos that I realised this one was leaking. lockdown has postponed a tyre purchase. Hoping there will be some specials once we are back at level 2.

Installed some M-Sport sills last week. Some came up locally and I couldn't help myself. I scanned it the other night out of curiosity to see if everything is good and the coils have definitely got rid of the DME negative current at injector code, I did have a IHKA code for the AUC module which I new nothing about. Turns out its the sensor for the auto air function, it senses chemicals in the air and turns the air circulation to cabin air only. Not a big deal but I will replace that in due course. Next things on the list are: Vanos high pressure hose Tyres all around. Despite the fronts being very new they are awful in the wet.

  21. Mine cost $120 incl shipping (second hand) so the one from TM if you could get it for $150 which is the starting bid isn’t too far off.
