  1. Howdy Ian and welcome to BimmerSport! Congrats on your purchase - there's a good few E60 fans here. Check put all the activity in the Wellington forum section: http://bimmersport.co.nz/forum/26-wellington/ - there's a bunch of stuff happening: revival of BMW Car Club in Wellington and AGM - Aug 9th - FaceBook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1029041987230635/ Barry's Garage tour, drive and lunch - Aug 20th Backroads of Wairarapa road trip - 30th July Forgotten Highway overnight road trip - Sep 23-24 Hope you can join us on some of these
  2. Before I bought my X5 and M5 I toyed with getting one of these for a bit of variety. There was a silver one with much higher KMs for $10K then $8K - sitting for ages at the Trade-In Clearance Center in Welly. It had a yuk blue interior though and was nowhere near as tidy as this one. I don't think the woodgrain is faded - that's just the colour - but I way prefer the interior in this to the one I looked at. What can I say, I like contrast interiors! This does look to be in fantastic condition so for an AMG/Merc enthusiast I think this would be a good deal.
  3. Welcome from Welly James - where is Kuno? Nice E30 and agree they're nice in white
  4. Nice report indeed Charlie - yes it isn't quite as nice as it looks on TM - needs some TLC from a committed owner
  5. Cheers for the advice guys. I do intend to keep my X5 for another few years (got a 4 yr MBI on it) and have dealt with some cooling system stuff already - so will expect to deal with guides in the next year or 2.
  6. Agreed - if we first and foremost liked sensible cars we'd probably be driving something else... Avensis mode? But yes @Gabe79 that is the right question to ask 'if I have to sink extra $$ in will I still be happy?' When I was first looking at picking up a euro again 2 years ago I was close to buying a black AMG spec E500 for $7500 - it had some oil leaks and 170kms on it and my garage said 'if you have to drop $5k will it still be a deal?'. I chickened out event though in hindsight it was a reasonable deal. Just as well perhaps - otherwise I wouldn't be involved in the great BMW community
  7. Pics for posterity... agree it would be more interesting with a V8 in it ....
  8. That is cool Nicely presented - but could have done with a vacuum eh! Should have a black stereo in it too methinks.
  9. Owning a M62TU E53 with 222KMs on it - what's the general advice around prevention/preemptive vs hoping?
  10. I have mixed feelings on the interior - I like contrast interiors and I like ones that are different but I'm just not sure about this.
  11. Phooey .... just hang fire for another! Generally better if it isn't an auction - I think those are a PITA from a purchaser's perspective.
  12. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1369090051 price unclear (starting bid $7k) 195kms 'Sonderpolsterung' individual black and red contrast leather interior Active heated comfort seats Hi-Fi pro audio Bit of clear-coat fade Has had a bunch of important maintenance/replacement done Pictures are a bit rubbish but I like this
  13. I like it But not the black wheels. M5s have nice wheels - leave them alone!
  14. Re MBI I suggest you contact MTF Mt Victoria to see if they can assist. I've found them great to deal with. If you want to off road then a Touareg makes good sense. My mate has 4.2 V8 Toureg and it is a nice vehicle - quality interior, great sounding V8 - but uses almost as much juice as my M5 Props to @Gabe79 for helping out!
  15. Hey Logan - yep saw this one pop up and agree the HDR is happening!! But I do love the E53s in Blue. @treone bought a beaut one recently. I've got the M62 4.4i E53 with 222Kms on it. There's a good discussion on X5s here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/58166-2001-2004-x5-opinions-wanted/ But that isn't quite so relevant to the 4.8is with the N62 in it. Ask yourself 'if I have to drop $5K on sorting it during the first year, is it still a good buy'? Try to get service history - if lots of crap has been sorted already then you can buy with increased confidence. This is where I lost out .... Put a MBI on it to manage risk as Brent from BM World says "late v8's have the N62 engine, they have a lot more issues but use less fuel" - also have a lot more power! Let us know how you get on!!!
  16. Hmm I quite like E60 MSport in white but I know it's not to everyone's liking. But I def do prefer the silver interior trim in the black one. Whatever you get it will be awesome Keep us posted!
  17. hmmm. But I can see the appeal of this one. 535D is indeed rare and the pick of the diesels- the car has lowish kms, excellent specs and Autosure included. At this price a LCI MotorSport would be more compelling, but this still looks damned good with M5 feet - and Dynamic Drive is goodness. If you're doing a lot of kms and you're sold on the diesel then I don't think anyone could fault you for buying this. The alternative I'd look at would be something like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1350246006.htm - 550i MSport LCI w/HUD for $18K - or this one for $20k : http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1364326094.htm Interestingly there's a 530D F10 with lower kms for a little more - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1312791406.htm - and you can put a MBI on it for not a lot. Very modern interior but I just think it looks a bit 'sensible' ....
  18. +1 on this. E39 Motorsport Tourings are also pretty uncommon. It includes Bluetooth and radar detector too!
  19. Go with what you like Matt It should go with the green exterior nicely. It is unusual to have black leather with a light interior tho ....
  20. I've seen the white leather with the aluminium trim and I'm not sure if it's better. :\
  21. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1362350183 98kms NZ GPS Band expander????? Really? Hmmm - doh. Hopefully re-coded Aux port Has PassPort Max wired in but costs extra to leave it in .... Airbag sensor error and downshift paddle not working.
  22. Yep looks that way. :\ It has much higher kms but looks in good condition and has both NZ Nav and radar detector which are nice extras. Incredible cars for the $$ but definitely a commitment
