  1. I was gonna throw a cheeky $500 at them. I was tempted to just buy the wheels, swap the tires over and flick them on but I'm too lazy heh.
  2. If you get them i'd be keen on the tyres if you change them.
  3. BM Workshop usually have it on the shelf, possibly too late now.
  4. Can't remember what video it was. But it was comparing the 340i, S4, AMG C43 and their winner was none, get the 330i instead.
  5. Is it a facelift? Injector would be my next port of call if so.
  6. Cost me $500 a wheel at Wheel fix it in Auckland. Full strip and repaint.
  7. I think PS4S only come in 19 and above from memory? Something like that anyway.
  8. Haha, sound plan. If you ever do have an M5 ABS failure it's usually the pump. If it can't be refurbished then you can get a pump unit from another BMW and attach it to your M5 controller. Mine came from a E9x 323i. Saved me 4 grand. The ABS pump in my old 130i also failed at about 60k km and we had just the pump repaired as the unit was $3000.
  9. M5 ABS units are $4500 and there's no second hand ones
  10. I'm not sure what the problem with the questions/answers is? People are asking if things that don't need doing have been done? The seller responded that they haven't in his ownership, he has only maintained the car, which is totally fair. I sure as hell am not doing 10 grand worth of work on mine at 100km unless something is dead. There isn't a great deal of preventative maintenance you can do to be honest, if something wears out or needs replacing then I will do it, I don't call that preventative. At $20k I think it's cheap for what you are getting, it's one of the best colour combos in my opinion and appears to be in decent condition. What you do need if you buy one of these is cash flow. If $20k is a significant sum of money to you, or you can't summon $10k within 24 hours then you can't afford M5 ownership. It might sound a bit snobbish but that's just the reality as every little part costs over $1000 a piece and there's often multiple of the same part. With regard to the M6 with 230k, that would be a prime target for rod bearings, even though I agree the problem is probably a little overblown. I would 100% go with the M5 for the same money, no contest. And finally vs the E39, apples and oranges. The E60 is the more capable car and demands you have your big boy pants on if you want to push it. The E39 has a more analog driving experience. Both are engaging and exciting to drive and I can respect and enjoy both.
  11. Lol,BMW. Every time I hear the ding for reserve fuel I have a minor episode. BMW PTSD.
  12. 20 grand for 500HP. The only thing faster for 20k was my old E55! https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2157022686.htm?rsqid=9e68add2de174ce58faf374f9ee223fd-003
  13. Nope, the 4th generation 5 speed auto or 5/6 speed manual. The 5th gens start to use CVT.
  14. You can get newer model Legacy turbo for under 10k and they are actually quite a reliable car, mainly down to their mechanical simplicity. I had two of them and neither gave any grief. If you wanted to go all out reliable then pick up a Legacy 3.0R, rock solid vehicle. The older twin turbo is more fun to drive IMO, and cheaper, but the newer single turbo is a far better car by orders of magnitude.
  15. yep, only offer advice on what not to buy.
  16. Wait til you are stuck in traffic or always do short trips heh. Although if you are in the Taranaki it shouldn't be a problem.
  17. I wonder if the purple one SD5150 was the one that lived on my old road in Alfriston. Cool cars and would possibly rate over the E39 IMO.
  18. Yeah I forgot about the oil/trans servicing requirements on top of that. Maserati warranty is also moonbeams. I have an internal invoice for a $10k repair just done on my new car for the equivalent of the VANOS solenoids. Eek.
  19. Nah, I had a 2 yr warranty on it and nothing failed in that time. Waste of $4400. Warranty's on these things can often be a total waste. Cost $500 to access the warranty, plus the warranty purchase cost, so you are gonna need some monster repairs to get value out of it. Normal cars where the warranty is $1800 for 4yrs make sense to me. I have booked it in to have someone remove/repair the pump before replacing it. My 130i repair cost about $800 all up for the same job when the price on the pump alone was $2500. I could probably do the job myself but I just don't have any time to work on cars anymore with 2 kiddies running around.
  20. Replaced voltage regulator last night in the M5. Cleared all the spaz codes it was throwing and the car started up all good. Got 50 metres down the road this morning and up comes 5DF0 ABS pump failure, reset codes a few times but it comes straight back. BMW parts are such a bastard, it would be fine if they died and didn't cost the moon, but the ABS pump retails for $3000 US, it's not just an M5 thing either, the 130i had the same issue. FML.
  21. Nice photos and a nice clean car. GLWS!
  22. GorGasm

    Not my Supra

Yeah I always disregarded it after playing the original Need for Speed game, it had the best steering but it was super slow. GTR was king for me as I would watch it in Bathurst.
  23. Sounds like E60 M5 ownership is cheaper hah!
