    Metric tyres

An idea might be to see how much you can sell your rims for. There might be some odd person out there that would be willing to pay more for your rims than it'd cost you to get proper rims and tyres.
  2. He's in Auckland anyway. Take it to one of the transmission shops like http://kaspa.co.nz/ They have a shop in Otahuhu, Glenfield and Silverdale. They'll do the diagnostics and check for you no charge in hopes of charging you for the service. You decide from there.
  3. Filter and fluid change is about $400ish all in. Less if you do it yourself. At least get it checked before going for a new transmission. A few of the transmission specialists will do diagnosis for free. Also, that notion BMW tries to peddle that this is a lifetime fluid might have been derived from the lifetime of some short lived species. It sure isn't the lifetime of humans, nor most cars.
  4. Cheers I think I'm ok here. For $1000 you can get a rough set with a cracked rim. https://trademe.co.nz/1300952510 If you're Keen. Go for it.
  5. To clarify, I bought the kits and did the repair myself. I am electronically inclined, but it wasn't hard. Given the price difference between doing it yourself and having someone else do it, or even buying a whole new console, it's still worth it for me.
  6. I used these guys and they were excellent. http://www.pixelfix.net/eng/bmw.html
  7. That's a lovely car with, but that price...
  8. Bump. Help get my wife off my back. Someone buy these, please. ?
  9. DC in this context, stands for Diplomatic Corps. Yes.
  10. This is the cheap option... but it works. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171379899269 Before After Note, I don't actually use the cup holder at all. I just didn't want the garish hole in the console!
  11. If we don't have it in America, it isn't a real car.

    Quick Questions

If you know exactly what parts you want, realoem has weights for part numbers.
  13. https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volkswagen-parts/
  14. I <3 FCP. That's quite reasonable too all around. I find them even more reasonable if I combine the order with a US trip.
  15. How much did the lot run you? Where did you get parts from?
  16. Have you driven in places like Italy (specially Rome,) or India (anywhere) ? Auckland drivers are fine on balance. I'd be willing to bet more people can identify Toyotas than BMWs. BMW drivers suffer more because of the perception we are all rich assholes swaggering about the road in our fancy cars.
  17. That's old school info. Brings me back to ham days... I'll happily carry the banner of techno-geekdom. I don't quite get what you mean here though...
  18. Hi there Paul, Alas, I do not have the centres. They are bbs ones and very hard and costly when you do find them!
  19. Did you do it, or trash driver man?
  20. $5500 buy now for it. That car is gorgeous. Wish I'd gotten it instead of mine. ?
  21. The adapter will run you ~$10. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/hub-centric-ring-adapter-set/747260~kt/
