  1. Love the Lada lol i had a mishap in one of these when i put where i thought was first gear(standard H manual) but was actually reverse
  2. Welcome to BimmerSport Steve...great looking 46 you have there!
  3. I've had a random list of cars and were mainly due to what i was into at the time/$$ permitting first car a 88 Toyota Corona-ran on an oily rag, failed a warrant for rust and was going to cost to much to fix...drained oil and drove it around to see if it would die. fail on my behalf! 88 Toyota Corrolla fxgt-quick cheap car 82 Toyota Starlet with super charged 4age-very quick too small though. 91 RX7 Savanah-thought i liked rotaries(opinion changed fast) 89 Subaru Legacy rs-quick/handling! 94 Toyota Soarer V8-loved the sound-not the handling(brother wrote it off) 95 Subaru GTB wagon-Awesome wagon(gas guzzler though) 91 Subaru Legacy N/A Wagon-love the old school shape(still own) 84 Mitsubishi EVO Pajero SWB Ltd edition 1800 turbo(same as gsr)-Gas eater but awesome fishing/skiing vehicle(still own) 91 318i e36-first euro and love the handling, totally perfect for what i use it for!(still own) Have some photo's will get them up when i go home..
  4. BMW Cooke Howlson are wanting $75 for this hose...seems expensive for a hose, does this sound about right?? I replaced the original failed hose with a nissan one but would prefer an actual Bmw designed one. Hose is number 4...Cheers
  5. Big Tongan here if you need some beef down these ways lol my old man lives near the kaikorai valley address! if you want me to pop in there, pm me some details.
  6. After pulling the missus' 318is too bits to fix a heater hose i decided to check my 318i's hoses as well. What i found was, the black plastic flange type thing on the right side that goes into the block and connected to 3 hoses had broken at the inlet to the block(sorry no pics can't find the camera charger) What i'm wondering is what is this piece called? Cheers EDIT: Scratch that found it....WATER CONNECTOR... Doh
  7. I found the problem, it was a hose that was stuffed from what i'm assuming the heater to a connecter/splitter at the back of the manifold...very fiddly job but got it done. I want to check my other 318i's hoses as well, but am wondering if there is an easier way to get behind there instead of pulling the manifold out...it seems if i can take the air filter thingy majig(sorry don't know what it's called) at the top rear of the engine bay it would be much easier! Is this possible guys?? EDIT: after taking it for a run this morning to drop the missus too work i noticed that the heater is not blowing hot air. Almost like the hot/cold switch is staying on cold...is there something i may have done while changing the hose?? Cheers
  8. Is that what actually happens? because if so it's a good idea!! Actually... how about "the sticker must have fallen off" excuse that i'm sure the police would hear all the time or boy racers fitting 2 mufflers for the test then taking one off after getting certed therefore bore muffler stickered...maybe some flaws.
  9. My main prob is that the police are able to pull anyone over and if in their opinion it is too loud...green sticker, imo this needs to be regulated or the police should carry a db meter, how much more would i have been stung getting certed...even though nothing was wrong grrrr!! The only trouble with db level on your wof would be those boy racers that take the *stock* muffler/exhaust and replace it with aftermarket 10 mins after getting a wof.
  10. Someone try a reverse image search engine and see where else these pics are on the net...broke my data cap for the month and am on dial up speed:(
  11. I have had 2 cars green stickered for noise. One was a n/a Subaru Legacy and another a 87 rx7, for both i had to take back to get a wof(on a trailer). Each past with flying colors and the sticker was removed i also went to a friend who works at pitt stop and got him to noise test them...both a couple under the legal db limit, and he wrote me a db level note which i kept in my cars... Police discretion is RIDICULOUS, they should carry the meters or take you somewhere it can get tested that day, before issuing the green sticker...all in all it cost me about $200 because that cop was having a bad day and wanted something too pick on!
  12. Yep sounds like the diff, do you maintain your car well? If there's a seal and oil has leaked your diff may well be done for...best bet would be to take it in and get it professionally checked.
  13. Not once!! I find that very hard to believe esp in the smaller towns where they may only have one car every 10mins, in chch or somewhere that is far busier that could be the case. I travel through to chch quite regularly and 9 out of 10 times there is always someone asking what i need or whether they can finish filling my tank same thing goes for central otago during ski season! In Dunedin it's the norm unless they are busy helping someone else..
  14. Not a fan of the matte, imo a high shine black would have come up mint...but each to their own.
  15. Haha that is absolute gold...well done!
  16. http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/newshome/7182...tion-forecourt/ Seems fricken Riddiculous if you ask me!! Down here MOST service stations still have people on the forecourts or are willing to help if they see you checking oil or water under the hood and i have found the same around most of the south island when i travel! Not to sound North vs South but is no service a common practise up north?
  17. I would assume it would be the first click(parking lights) as they stay on when you have your normal driving lights on too.
  18. It came from a 2001 Z3 with 65ks on it. I have the drivetrain, engine, wiring, ecu pretty much everything that was under the hood was loaded in the van, why do you ask? Yeah i have that on my watchlist, don't know much about the saffa bmw's so may have to do some research!
  19. This ^ bit i'm not looking forward to, actually after going over your progress there's not much of this i'm really looking forward to lol You have done an awesome job mate hopefully my s50 conversion will be in the league of yours. I think it is going to cost a few more $$ then i thought...sooo back to look for a donor car
  20. Nice Score Clinton...a friend of mine bought a 6 cylinder xj6/s? (I think!) for a bit more than that, as a project car. It was dereged and full of rust, he will be pissed when i tell him this lol
  21. Trouble is. Down here to find decent examples of most cars you pay a premium, as there is little car yard competition etc. I may have to look further north...but am flat out with work at the mo so was hoping to find something locally that i don't need to muck around freighting or driving several hours to collect.
  22. Yep, she just emailed that it has "m-spec bits" still a tidy example though...might be cheeky and offer her 3k
  23. Welcome young fella...being a first bimmer owner myself 6 months ago i now own 2 and looking at another so watch the addictiveness of these machines lol The forums are awesome and plenty of guys here willing to give great advice.
  24. Awesome!!! I have most of the electrics and drivetrain for the s50, will need to source some bigger brakes but will worry about that later down the track. I should be able to do alot of the work but may have to get friendly with a mechanic and auto sparky lol I was looking at this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=287892055 looks a tidy example but i'm not 100% it is actually M-Spec like they are claiming...asked if they could take it into Jeff Gray for a once over(at my cost) but will wait and see if they reply. Do you have any pics of the engine bay?
