Tax benefits for utes x utes being driven like they're stolen = absurd fuel consumption numbers. I suspect most of them are averaging 15l/100k. (for reference my diesel with predominantly urban driving long term averages 6.8/100)

Just renewing my insurance on my 2016 F31 335d. Insurance co. has valued car at ~38k, I queried this and they said that they use Motorweb for valuation purposes (although cover is 'market value' if total loss). I had imagined it might be ~50k (esp given supply issues at present and rarity of 335d in NZ as it was never sold here as NZ new model). Sure enough one popped up on TM last night, same year, similar spec and double the km with an asking price of 52k https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2949892828 Any opinions on whether it's worth getting a formal valuation?

Concur with @NZ BMW on the DEF equipped ones ('BluePerformance') with the second filler beneath the fuel cap - will be horrendous to sort when they have an issue - They are a recipe for trouble. F3x is a great chassis otherwise though.

@Driftit After my previous experiences with Winger I wouldn't be in a massive rush to spend more money with them. Hopefully Continental Cars can do better, although no change in staff as I understand it.

That Estoril blue one looks the best of those ones IMO. 10-15k km difference in mileage probably not too important...

The downside of the sport is that ghastly red trim accent on the japanese ones...

The pre-LCI NZ new m-sport 116i are probably the sweet spot for spec - most had 6WA / Xenons / F+R PDC though no big screen nav if you think that matters. Edition 30 as @qube says are nice too. Be aware that most JPN market cars didn’t have cruise as standard. Engine seems sound but some had issues with timing chain and turbo heat shield rattle.

Chipseal on high traffic roads seems like a false economy (especially when you need to redo it in 12 months) but even tarmac is hard to get right judging by the Kapiti expressway...

Concur - they've been some way off experience I've had with CJ in Hamilton / Tauranga. Don't think any of the staff have changed though.
