WTF, who wants to buy a car without wheels, let alone one that is set up for a certain size/offset? Putting factory wheels back on would look stupid due to the body mods. what are you shopping for though? haha

Driftit 2093 Report post Posted July 31, 2019 Supercheap is not cheap anymore. It's almost like Briscoes. Where if you buy anything from there when there is not a decent 50% off sale going on, you are just being ripped off.

Driftit 2093 Report post Posted August 1, 2019 I'm pretty much an advocate for buying everything online and avoiding local NZ stores now. And lets be honest. It's not often you are passing on a NZ owned store. They are all Aussie stores.
Eagle 1670 Report post Posted August 1, 2019 SCA been sh*t for ages, its the usual retail strat of starting off cheap and slowly ramp prices up. Repco is better and cheaper now for bits and pieces. I generally buy tools here in NZ as they arent too badly priced for common stuff and we get decent range. Car parts are the opposite.

I thought just about everything in NZ was a franchise, maybe not always locally owned but quite often they are? Downside though would be the franchise fees would be going to the Aussie mother company in a lot of cases - Bunnings, Harvey Norman, etc.

SCA being the perfect example, every store is corporate owned. I have a feeling Bunnings is too

Sounds about right given the starting price is usually for 3.5-4L of mineral\semi synth and basic filter. They wouldn't get as good $ per L on the premium so its probably priced even higher. Changing oil\basic service is the easiest money around for workshops.

Gees same thing here. Looking for hard to find parts for a very rare model 4wd. So far 5 places that have told me they have the parts have not had them when I have turned up. I ended up having to buy the parts from Lithuania... And they arrived quicker than parts I ordered from Hamilton... with cheaper shipping. WTF NZ.

Most frustrating thing for me was the whole NZCS224 form that (apparently) must be used when purchasing anything with value over $1000. How is Joe Average supposed to know about this, and what happens if (s)he orders something with higher value, without completing the form ❓ And then the palaver about "Who is your customs agent?" comes into play. Why would I need a customs agent? I accept I'm being reamed for tax - just let me pay it!
