Okay have fixed it, and a few other oddities (like the unloader relays not being connected anymore). Now have the E21 M20B23 running happy as larry. Tacho and Econo needles went all haywire due to me putting the long screws in the lower inboard position on the dash surround... i.e. the screws ate through a few tracks on the SI board... doh... all repaired now, and dead lamps and LED's replaced while i'm at it, and some dry joins reflowed.

So going through all the processes of making sure im crossing all the requirements off the list as i go through this swap and need ideas on how you guys are running your front driveshaft hoop as it has to sit so close to the rear of the gearbox and shifter, trying to figure out how to mount it without interfering too much. If any of you guys have got pics would be greatly helpful thanks

Okay so Noooooooooooow the E30 is back on the road, and road legal! Hat Tip to RS Sinclair in CHCH for the WoF. Electrical gremlins all fixed, tacho and econometer all going, and damage from time and idiocy repaired on dash cluster and SI board. Tomorrow I be rolling. Okay one small issue, not sure how normal it is, shuddering on takeoff once it's done a few takeoffs, all good when everything is cold. Upside if i need to replace the clutch is I can put the Getrag 260 back in, was too lazy when I did the engine change to swap the box too.

If you talk to Andy, he may well be doing a freight run this weekend? or at least, soon.

I can get the tires taken off over the weekend if that helps at all Graham. Whoever buys them could probably make their $200 back by selling the tires on though I just haven't taken them off because I don't have space for a stack of tires AND a stack of wheels haha

I have a set off my e38 sitting at home. They still have big, e38 sized balloons on them too which won't help but I'll grab one out and weigh it at work tomorrow

No one is going to be able to tell you. Get yourself a multimeter and do some troubleshooting. Do the switches have lights on? Indication there is power to the switches? Power at the fuse? Power at the motors?

has anyone gone to check this out or know any more information on it? would be interesting to see how much it goes for. could be an amazing buy or could be real lemon given how long its been sitting idle

Bought another car to tide me over. Another black motorsport e46 wagon, but with a m54b25 in it. I need to pull the head off my car and have a look before I settle on which direction I'm gonna go, but its now officially a project car. Will either put the m54 from the parts car in it or go full retard and squeeze in a m60 or m62. I've just been so busy with work, and helping a mate with his e36, that I haven't had the time (or the heart) to pull the head yet.

So I looped this short 1-2 second clip to be about 33 seconds longer so you can appreciate the V12s piston configuration I find the variation in the way motor configurations are ordered on the crank and their ignition timing quite a fascinating topic. M70s have a firing order of 1-7-5-11-3-9-6-12-2-8-4-10 The driver side bank is number cylinders 1-6 and passenger side bank 7-12. If we watch the clip cylinder 1 on the drivers side front hits TDC and a fraction of a second later so does cylinder 7 on the passenger side front. What I was wondering, is after the above moment, would cylinder 7 be firing at when it then starts traveling to BDC? It just looks like such a short ignition angle variation, unless I'm missing something? 4 strokes take two full crank rotations, so, 720 deg / 12 cylinders 60 degree per cylinder firing. Thoughts?

That is a really good point - an extra 50 odd hp probably isn't worth the lifetime of insurance headaches if a claim is denied.
