In that case Beller off Constellation drive is easy for you to get to or BM Workshop is a slight detour on your way to the CBD. Both are very good and won't rip you off. Just keep in mind that no BMW shop worth it's salt is "cheap" so be prepared... If you have any concerns about advice or a quote from anybody you can also post here and ask. Especially if you get a long list of parts to replace, that can become expensive.

I agree with the above, where you take it will largely depend on where you live in Auckland - there are many good independents, no point in driving all the way across town to the furthest one. And as Olaf says, keep us posted with progress, we're typically interested in such things. Good luck!

Seats will look like that ^ again in 2 years or less.
-
It's been scanned properly and VANOS timing was out. If that's been fixed it needs another scan.
-
He was installing a CF intake in an e92 M3 in the Repco car park? Owning it.
-
Well hopefully the seats in the car for sale have been done well and last for a long time. They look fantastic.
-
Still a paint on though @hotwire?
-
Fair enough @Olaf, I'm happy with that. Presumably it's leather off and big, big $ to properly restore it though? And @TermiPeteNZ I'm not sure really what they're worth. I personally wouldn't have listed this car for as much as 15-18 but then I was told the other day that I'd be mad to accept less than 20 for mine. That seems an awful lot to me.
-
Yeah. And it won't be dyed, it will be painted. I can attest that when i got mine in 2001 (?) the leather (Lotus White) looked like that. Little did I know it had been "restored" and a few years later it looked terrible again. And that was on 6 year old seats. These are 23 year old seats! Unless it's new leather they'll look awful again soon. And 18k? Holy crap, what is mine worth???
-
Lovely car, GLWS! Perhaps you should say test "rides" but I'm pretty certain I wouldn't by a car without driving it myself, you may need to reconsider that condition?
-
No worries and, yes I should have added that I meant sea freight. I thought You Shop offered sea also but perhaps not. Kiwi Shipping (Mainfreight) screwed up once for me but made it right without argument and have been fine subsequently.
-
They nice wheels, largely a copy of the BBS RC design. For shipping consider https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/youshop or http://www.kiwishipping.co.nz/ - both will be a lot less than $588!
-
Hmm, does an e36 M3 rack offer you anything? I have one wrapped up in the garage if so, let me know.
-
Enough said.

Is there anything not epic about this post?

Colin and I were both trying to alert Andy to this thread. He's a moderator here, local to Wellington and can probably provide the recommendation you're looking for. It might pay to send him a PM and ask. My other comment was just to confirm you shouldn't assume it "all" needs to be replaced. I can't see any other helpful information in the thread.

That's awfully "professional" of you Glenn! How pleasant. Jump down off your pedestal and join the rest of us because it must be f'ing lonely in "your" sandpit way up there! You're getting grumpy, you need more social interaction.
-
No, that's an improper assertion Glenn. Pretty much anybody with rudimentary knowledge and an Internet connection can provide a superficial diagnosis of e3/46 cooling problems. They're so well documented you couldn't avoid the obvious if you tried. We're all trying to help and help doesn't always require a "professional". Not looking for an argument but your position is far too absolute. It's not black and white as you make it out to be.
-
She asked two questions Glenn.
-
@_ethrty-Andy_ @MsSpeedFreak - that will depend on the cause. If it was running fine and then started overheating as badly as you describe then it's quite likely a leak of some sorts. How much coolant is in the system now? Assuming a leak it doesn't necessarily mean everything needs to be replaced but unless you know the age and condition of the components then it's a good time/excuse to replace the main parts. Parts to consider are: Radiator, Water pump, Thermostat, Thermostat housing, Expansion tank, Coolant level sensor, Hoses Somewhat related: Belts, Tensioners, Pulleys
