  1. So for the past 18 months I’ve had a 1988 E30 coupe project to replicate a Alpina B3 2.7 and have thought for a while I should create a plog.. but maybe the horse has bolted.. maybe I’ll get around to it.. But with buying my long held ambition and first M3 along with some inspirational plogs particularly by KwS and M3AN I could/should/would. So picking up the baton, in this case KwS’s old E36 M3 and with thanks to mzhu031 for selling it. So this was taken the day I brought it 4th April You know I’ve never had a white car and would’ve liked a racing white M3 but not for $38k lol. I have had silver and imho easy to keep looking clean. I like that it’s on 8.5’s all round but not convinced with the polished style 24s tbh maybe they’ll grow on me. I had it checked by a local Indie which highlighted a few issues all fixable Mechanically it’s in good shape and my early stage plan is to fix the above and tidy up the exterior and interior plus a few other enhancements in no particular order - Mount front lip - Replace rear shock mounts including reinforcement plates DONE - Replace rear shock absorbers with Bilstein B6’s (Bilstein B6 struts front, stock springs all round tbc) - Replace front tyres with Yokohama AD08Rs (matching new rears) - Screws for front valance - Front subframe reinforce and repair - Clean engine bay and detail - Service fluids engine, gearbox, lsd diff - Source 2nd hand front bumper support brackets, highbeam covers - Repair LH door card - Replace steering wheel with 3 spoke DONE - Clean interior including steam clean carpet and seats - Re-trim front seats - M3 floor mats - Check spark plugs, distributor & rotor - Respray boot lid and front valance - Replace brake rotors and pads - Replace exhaust back box Have completed a few of these in a burst of enthusiasm and posted under “what I did today” forum.
  2. Hi all, looking to buy a B12 Pro Kit for a 95 m3 3.0. Prices are a real mixed bag out there and can’t seem to land for less than $1500, and that’s defore duty if they get stopped. Anyone had any success sourcing these for cheaper, or can recommend a better combo? cheers
  3. My cow cocky mate sold his E36 M3 and has a new spare engine he was having built for sale S5032 professionally build race motor. Brand new build completed and ready for dyno. You can’t build this for this price. Starting from the bottom and moving up • New Race Bearing and ARP bolts • Molnar Rods with Wossner 12:1 Pistons • All polished, honed and milled, all new hardware, tensioners etc • Cat Cams 285°/279° with all the right followers, shims etc • Stainless and Nitrate valves. Professionally built at an engine builder not in someone’s back shed. Plug it into a ECU and away you go. Was being set up for an endurance racing motor to run approx. 325 – 335 WHP. Depending on your headers, airbox and computer. We were getting a comfortable 298 WHP on softer cams and standard airbox and lower compression. The test of reliability is the previous engine won both north and South Island endurance classes over three years Sold as a long block with no alternator, headers, starter or airbox (the stuff people usually swap off their old engine) Evan at Speed Factor helped with the build and we have all the receipts etc. Ask any of us the questions you need to know. After $16,000. The parts alone cost this not including the block. Building up a Toyota 86, so may consider part swap for genuine Toyota racing parts. If this is too much for you, check out the S50B30 also for sale (my old race motor) – if that sells first I buy this. Give Wrighty a call on 027 452 5908 or email him creekdalefarm@gmail.com or messenger me.

  7. Hi All, New to the Bimmer forum thought id give it ago, proud owner of a 2005 e46 M3 (SMG). Have owned for about 3 years (bought it when I was 19) and have loved every moment! Obsessively maintained to always be looking/running her best but did not come as it currently looks as I thought it could do better and wanted to make it my own. Fortunate enough to have full service history which was important as it’s done more km’s than most. Joined the forum to learn more about BMW’s and see/learn what others out there have done to there’s to make them better and possibly go along to some meets as iv never been to one. Future plans include CSL air intake ect, agency power headers, mid pipes. GTR vented bonnet on its way from overseas. Carbon fibre going to be pained car colour with vented grills left black.
  8. Howdy, I'm on the hunt for an E36 M3 in blue, yellow or white preferably. But will consider other colour combinations. Ideally looking for a '96+, 3.2L Euro spec and "low" milage.. which isn't critical based on the cars age! Service history is a must though. Let me see whats out there!
  9. Genuine Momo steering wheel boss kit for late type E28 and E30s. Should also fit E34, possible E36 etc as to my knowledge the steering wheels interchange (though this could be a case like my diff so do your own research). Model number 2006. $80. Pickup from Panmure or can post for $10 (non rural).
  10. From what I have researched, use the S50 ECU and loom, bypass EWS from the original engine and I'm good to go? If the M3 the engine came from didn't have automatic aircon should I convert to the manual version/ Delete completely? Cheers, Connor

  14. Hi Team So i'm a new member myself and thought i'd kill two birds with one stone and introduce myself. Names Richard and i'm here to share my journey with my dream car build. Yes you read it right i am going to drop a v12 into the best shape ( my opinion ) bmw ever made. So i had purchased the v12 motor and auto box off trade me late 2015. Have also managed to find a rare 6 speed box that come out of the 850csi bmw that i had to get shipped from Britain. Treated myself to a nice New Zealand new 2000 manual 232i for my birthday earlier this year. Very nice looking with the factory 18inch mags and msport half leather seats and factory spoiler kit too. So here the build begins. over the 3day weekend i disassembled the engine to start cleaning parts for the rebuild. Had already took the heads off and sent to an engineering place to price up getting some custom cams and an ITB set up made. I also have a full new gasket set, head bolts and piston rings that will be replacing all the old stuff, a custom dry sump set up from the states as the oil pan had to be modified to fit the factory cross member. Here are a few picture of the motor in bits. feel free to pass on feed back or any advice team happy to share this build with you guys.
  15. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1259904144 223KMs and looks pretty tidy. Beautifully restored leather!!!! Rubbish pictures tho :{ What is with the frequent use of 'unmolestered' on TradeMe? Love the predictions 'My prediction is the price will double at least in the next year!' - a bit like Carlsberg's ads eh? (Probably the best beer in the world ...'
  16. Something you don't see very often! 133kms and $109k starting price. #424 of 505 produced -and owned by present owner for 23 years! http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1257782095
  17. Hey guys, I've recently started a build journal on a US site (m3forum.net). I thought I might as well replicate it here as well. Some of the content is written for a US audience (miles vs km, LHD vs RHD, etc) so feel free to ignore those bits. I'll update here as I update on m3forum. So having owned my M3 for a year last week, and given I'm embarking on some significant work over the next month, I though it was about time I started a build thread. I got the car in December 2015. I first seriously looked at buying an M3 in 2008, I decided (wisely) to pay off my student loan, etc. first. I then ended up getting married in 2012, and spending some time & money on travel with my wife. In 2015 I was finally ready to start thinking about an M3 again. For a number of weeks in August and September I had my eye half-seriously on a 2005 Silver Grey SMG model for sale in my home city (living in New Zealand there's not a huge number of E46 M3's on sale (between 5 and 8 at any one time). I still wasn't really sure if I was ready to buy one or not. Then one day it was sold, and I realised then how much I actually wanted it... I thought that was it and prepared myself to wait until the next one that met my requirements came along. Then, a few weeks later the same car was back on the market. It had actually just been traded between dealers. In the mean time the second dealer had done some work on it (to make it more attractive for sale presumably). New wing mirror glass on both sides to replace the damaged ones on it. All trim parts on the centre console replaced - looked like new. New OE brake rotors fitted on the front. That weekend I went to have a look at it. It was in much better shape that I was expecting. The exterior wasn't perfect, which I was expecting from what others who had looked at it had said. But the interior was in really great condition. More importantly the mechanics of the car seemed to be solid. The car had had the subframe strengthened by BMW NZ, had been serviced at a reputable BMW dealer, and had had things like the RTAB's done a few years previously, which was an indication that the previous owner/s had been taking at least some care of the car. To make a short story even shorter, I ended up making an offer on the car, and I took it home 3 days before Christmas. It ticked pretty much all the boxes for me. I was looking for: A later manufacturing year (2005/2006). SMG (yep I know, but I'm an engineer, SMG is cool, its a differentiator, and I really wanted it). Silvergrey or LSB Sunroof 19in Style 67s I bought it knowing that quite possibly it would need the VANOS done (which indeed it did), but that didn't really bother me. My intent in buying this car was to work on it, maintain it, and make it better than the day I bought it. I plan on keeping this car for a long time, and its an opportunity to learn and develop my mechanics skills as I go. I'm lucky in that regard in that I have my dad to help me. When he was about my age he owned and restored a Daimler SP250, so I'm not exactly on my own on this. A couple of months after I bought the car I ordered the parts to do the Beisan VANOS rebuild, did the full rebuild, new exhaust disc (existing hub tabs are 100% good), timing chain tensioner, cam bolts, etc. It was a great first project, we spread the work over two days, took our time, and the end result was perfect. All the rattle was gone, and the engine sounded smooth. Over the New Zealand winter I didn't get any major work done. did new belts, pulleys and tensioners, and replaced the crank case ventilation separator, but not much else. Which leads into the present day The summer project is a full suspension & bushings rebuild, cleaning up the underside of the car, cleaning, painting, etc. The aim is that the underside of the car will be as close to "like new" as is realistically possible. For me that means: Replace parts that wear Clean everything else up Seal and paint where appropriate to protect In New Zealand we don't salt our roads in winter (mostly cause it doesn't get cold enough) so the car is in pretty reasonable condition (more dirt and grime than rush), but if you're under there you might as well do it right hey! A couple of weeks ago I ordered Koni yellows to replace the stock shocks, as well as about 60 different part numbers for pretty much anything on the underside of the car that looked like it would wear out. Today Dad and I spent the afternoon getting the car up to working height on jacks (oh for a lift). Over the next few weeks we'll be dismantling, replacing/restoring and rebuilding. I'll be updating here as we go along. Hopefully in a few weeks time the car will be back on the ground and good to go for another 150,000 km :-) For now I'll end with a pic of the car up on jacks.
  18. Hi all I'll be selling some interesting bits and pieces, mainly E36 Evo M3 driveline parts, and M50/52 parts, that will no longer be used. These items are expensive quality parts sourced over the years, It is an ideal package for anyone desiring a strong F/I build, or simply upgrading a standard E36. They were to be used in a high horsepowered M50 Frankenstein build, but life doesn't always work out the way one wishes it would, there's nothing cheap about building a turbo E36 unless you cut corners ( haha ). Here are some parts, including some engine upgrades for turbo applications. - Evo M3 LSD Diff : $1200 ( haven't confirmed Ratio yet, blasted and painted, so not a crappy looking used Diff ) - Evo M3 Complete Rear Subframe ( Complete Powder coated unit ) : $1800 - Evo M3 Manual Conversion Kit ( Includes Complete Driveshaft ) : $2400 - UUC Clutch / Flywheel Kit ( 850whp rated, can find the detailed info on CES Motorsport web page ) : $2800 ( reasonably priced for what it is ) - Evo M3 Rear Axles : $ ( Price TBC ) Engine Components: -Top Mount TurboManifold T3/T4 : ( SOLD ) - CES BMW E36 Cutring Headgasket, Copper Spacer, COMBO KIT : $750 -ARP 2000 Head stud kit : ( SOLD ) -M52B28 Stroker Kit, removed from 90km engine : $500 -Evo Subframe Bushing Kit : ? ( TBC ) -Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump, Filter and Connector : ? ( TBC ) -M50B25 OBD1 Engine wiring loom : $50 -M50B25 Intake Manifold x 2 $60 each - Nuke Fuel Rail = ? Feel free to ask questions, there's still more parts to be listed but i haven't gathered everything just yet so keep an eye out if there's anything that tickles your fancy haha, or PM if need be, kind regards, Peter. Items with "TBC", prices yet to be confirmed.

  20. Purchased a BMW M3 for my partner and supercharged her with E46 M3 VT2-575 Supercharger System (Gen.3) - ESS Tuning The top of the line, intercooled Gen.3 S54 VT2-575 supercharger system produces 575hp and 360lb-ft of torque at 10psi of boost. A 232hp gain over stock, eclipsing the output of a Nissan GTR! Featuring the highly efficent, extremely durable and self contained Vortech V3 supercharger unit in Si trim, the supercharger is capable of producing up to 775hp. Added Blistein PSS10 Coilovers and a few other bits and bobs to her. She's a beauty!
