I've used rain-x for years. Great stuff. Started using it in the visor of my helmet. It stopped fogging on the inside and the rain just peeled off the outside. Started using it on my cars and like Graham said, you barely have to use the wipers. Used it to daw a <==B on my work mates windscreen at work so he'd come out every morning and there would be condensation all over the car except for right in the drivers view where there was a huge penis and balls. He thought someone was drawing it on every morning till he started night shifts and there it was in the work car park as well. It lasted for months.. Even frost wouldn't settle on it. Really funny thing was he recently traded that car in so I confessed to him that it was me. His wife thought it was hilarious cause he had ranted and raved at home about the as-hole who was drawing it on every morning.. THen we had a good chuckle about the poor car yard owner who'd be greeted at work every morning by the sight of a huge penis on the windscreen of one of the car in his lot..

I always had a strong feeling for the E34 which I tried hard to hide every time I saw them and wrote them off as whales, but deep down I always liked the old school headlights and aggressive yet civilized muscle look always intrigued me, the interior is far better than any 3 series I have been into, to me its a poor mans 2002. May was a horrible month for me, to top it off my 7 series was pretty much bodily destroyed by the deranged lunatic and I was getting bored of the 328i Project, and lurked around for something a bit bigger, with some more space and luxury as I would likely be moving up South for uni soon. I originally wanted a V8 540i and was willing to spend $3000 but it became hard to find one in good shape either, and in the end decided it to be more practical if I just kept my Supercharged 328i Project as the fast toy and simply replaced the 318i sedan, Then this came along, And for the price I just couldn't pass over this nice little 525i when I saw it. Lovely car, M50B25 Engine, done 200K, CALYPSOROT METALLIC (252), been told it was sound, looks well taken care of, leather interior in good shape, got a sunroof too! I got it off a tourist who was leaving the country in the last moment, What do you think its worth? I got it all for $500. Yep! likely around 1/4 the original asking price. So far plans for this General Maintenance (Engine & Transmission Oil and Service) Cosmetic Repairs (Petrol flap, headlight glass) Volvo Lip and have the sides and lower bumper matching the bodies colour. LSD (or might just weld it shut for 100% locking - Flame suit on) A Ebay Euro Chip Tune Exhaust modifications Some Suspension work, (for now I may just settle with some sports lowering springs) Perhaps some better Mags and Tires,(currently has 15" Style 5's) Maybe followed by a Strut Bar and Custom Xbrace etc. Probably with a budget or less than $1000, And when I sell it, I should get my investment back! I need it to be classy & reliable but still pondering if I should end up throwing one of my universal M50/M52 supercharger brackets (still under development will make the design available for BS members later this year) and blow it with an SC14! Car is in Christchurch with a friend, will be picking it up soon. To which, anybody got suggestions to bring it down to north island? (dont want to spend $700 having a car company transport it for me), If you know somebody or got any other budgeted ideas let me know. I was thinking to fly down there when I am called to be interviewed by uni and then drive it back but that could be a months wait.

I've gotta say I like the look of the BBS's on the 740i so I might just leave them there. Unless I sell the car which is also a possibility at the moment in which case I'll do the swap and get another set of rims later. For me I think the choice is narrowed down to the M6 rims or some Alpina Softlines. Given the price of genuine Alpinas and the fact that many guys in 740's with Alpina replicas complain of them bending out of shape when introduced to potholes(extra weight of the 750i) I might just look for those M6 rims.

ooo, i like that one on the M6 wheels more than i thought i would. Not keen on the BBS on the 740 tbh.

I can now legally drive my car. WOF and REG today. Wooo Hooo. Interesting that when I went to insure it they didn't have it listed on their books so the person serving me had to ring someone in Auckland. Took a while but they came back with a recommended insurance value of 12-17k and called it a special interest vehicle. My 740i has a recommended value of 2500 to 3500.

While I'm ranting. I hate the white on black text in this forum, my eyes struggle to see mistakes.... and there are always a lot!

Cheers guys. Conidering it just ticked over 246k it runs sweet. Doesn't miss a beat. Other than the steering angle sensor it had no other codes come up. Still in a bit of disbelief about how lucky I've been with this considering I bought it without viewing and it was sold to me as a non runner.

Hi guys/girls, Jono here, new to forums, taking my time to look through the topics (love jeffbebe's E31 who must live locally to me as I see it about all the time) and introduce my ride.... Brought this NZ new '91 E30 facelift 325i convertible manual done 165,000kms two years ago sight unseen from Rangiora ... Drove back to Auckland with the heater on full as temp gauge didn't work and some funky steering thanks to the tie rods being wound all the way in one direction (1 turn to lock left, 3 to lock right haha)... I'm pretty handy (and particular) so replaced ALL fluids, cambelt, waterpump, all water hoses, thermostat (old one was fine), temp gauge and adjusted valve clearances soon after getting back. Since then I've replaced the roof canvas and seals (last month, including stripping frame back to metal and repainting; b**** of a job getting the frame re-aligned after removing it) and various bits of trim and assorted suspension bushings... it's a labour of love, still plenty of things I'd like to do... PS: Always on the look out for the removable hard top on the slim chance anyone has one they want to sell...

tbh id keep it as a cruiser rather than throwing money hand over fist at it like you have planned. those mods arent going to do a sh*t load to make it better to drive when its gutless. Better off just maintaining it, maybe lowering it and leaving it.

Nice car. I was thinking about getting one of these to replace another car. I see so many $1 auctions pulled these days that it makes me wonder how many people actually bother following them.

Hi team, wondering if anyone can help me with the codes I've been chasing recently. E46 320i 6 Cylinder Automatic. Build date is 09/2000. I'm probably gonna use this thread until I can sort out the problem. Recently I've been experiencing a rough idle, sluggish takeoffs and a loss of power low down. Posted about it here before! I scanned the car, and got P0369 Camshaft Position Sensor Intermittent Bank B, which is the exhaust side. Running a bit rough but still getting me to and from Uni I bought the part, planning on fixing it next week. Driving home yesterday I got a shudder when accelerating, and the engine light came on. Quite a large loss of power at this stage, drove it the 10 minutes home and scanned the car. Installed the Cam Position Sensor, started the car, cleared the codes and took it for a quick drive, it drove better but not perfect. Scanning the car after the drive showed no codes immediately, I thought it would be fine for the interim. So to the current problem, I started it this morning, by the time I plugged my phone in the car was running rough, the engine light was back on and finally it stalled. Scanned the car and got P1353 - Misfire Cylinder 6 With Fuel Cut-Off. After a quick google, I restarted the car in the garage with the MAF removed, no stalls and it idled just fine. Attempted to isolate the issue by swapping the coils, swapped 5 & 6, started and it ran much better, no stalls, a little rough but the best it's been in the past two weeks. I scanned the car and the code followed the coil - P1350 Misfire During Start Cylinder 5. The problem with this is I got quite a few codes with that: P1348 Misfire During Start Cylinder 4 P1346 Misfire During Start Cylinder 3 P1085 Fuel Control Mixture Lean Bank 2 Sensor 1 P1083 Fuel Control Mixture Lean Bank 1 Sensor 1 I'm wondering where to go from here. Would swapping the coils trip sensors for cylinder 3 and 4 too? Vacuum leak seems to be a common problem too.

I still like mine....style 32? Dish suits the car. I don't have a better pic at hand - nice gunmetal grey when clean.....

Yep between cars just to see what you like more. But it's always good to have options....... Alpinas are the hero wheel for me......
  17. 1 point
Thats what they have on their books as recommended value. I insured it for 10k I might wait a couple of years before I go down that road..Or ff it as the case my be..lol If you have some nice wheels to swap I'd be interested... ha ha Your meaning between the 740 and 750? It's on the cards. I've been seriously thinking about it while at the same time keeping my eys open for another set. Possibly M6 rims. they look good and have the same offset. M6 rims, Alpinas or swap.

that engine is very rare to find here in a BMW, have you tried a Land Rover wrecker/parts crwod here? the engine was also used in the older 2.5L Diesels

This is the best BMW I have ever driven. It is also aesthetically near perfect, seats, bodykit, stance, wheels etc. I wish the seller all the best. That engine with its tune and AFM delete sounds glorious. Wish I had a spare 25k that I could spend without missing.

Try Glass Science cleaners, you can get them at Repco. The Spray is great. I love the stuff, don't even need wipers a lot of the time. I hate dirty widescreen... To the extent I refuse to drive some peoples cars, especially at night when the inside of their screen is filthy.

Took the head to Mark Wade of Wade Automotive in Penrose. He has been building engines for the race industry for decades. A bit grumpy, but very knowledgeable and experienced. He checked the head and also resurfaced it. This cost $75 + gst which I thought was reasonable. He checked the valve guides and said they weren't perfect, but not bad enough to need replacing. He checked the valves and seats too, and said they needed a valve grind. This is something I was going to do anyway. He said the hydraulic lifters were ok, but I'm going to rebuild them anyway. It only costs me my time. If its worth doing, its worth overdoing. The head looked good after it was decked, but unfortunately my photo skills were not quite so good; Then it was put in my diy parts cleaner along with the cams and a few other parts. Basically its just a tub from Bunnings filled with simple green - this stuff cleans off carbon and grease very effectively. For less than the $60 + gst cost of getting my head acid dipped at the machine shop, I have the ability to wash as many parts at home as I want, and in my own time. Next job is rebuilding the lifters, cleaning the valves, and a valve grind.

I Bid you welcome, now if you would kindly go onto youtube and search James Blunt You are Beautiful to further allow me to convey my welcome to you and your car. It goes something like this if I remember right.. "You are Beautiful, You are Beautiful its True, I saw you down the road with another man in you, but I have got a plan"... I am not expressing my desire to steal her, Blame James Blunt and my over imaginative brain .

Silver 1 series with black wheels and grilles and aftermarket quad exhaust. License plate GZZ740. Undertook me in a 40k zone at 50k+ in a bus lane to gain one car length in a queue of traffic. What a nob. Exactly the sort of dbag driving that makes people hate BMW drivers. Hope it wasn't a member. If it was, don't drive like a nob, it makes us all look bad.
