6 pointsI'd like to add that e30s are very popular at the moment with the young hipster crowd using mum and dads money to buy their first car. Old tech plus minimal driving experience equals accidents. This makes me sound like an old coot but my first car at 15 was a FWD Mazda 323 with an asthmatic single carb 1.5 that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. I too would've ended up backwards through a fence if I owned a 170hp RWD 6 cylinder with no safety features and a tendency to oversteer.

4 pointsDrive train refresh completed! Had a wee issue with the 02 sensors being plugged in to each other after the job was done. This caused the DME to think the fuel tank is low on fuel which resulted in limp mode. Weird. Now to not thrash it while the clutch breaks in..

3 pointsGawd, I love living on my own. I honestly dont think I could be bothered with the hassle of having to deal with others and thier sh*t anymore. I even bought a place just out of town so I dont have to put up with neighbours either..lol Ok, I may be a wee bit antisocial :rambo: But I live by my rules and nobody elses.

2 pointsWatching with interest - I have 4 children aged 6 and under and they have no respect, don't help out around the house and not only use the washing machine whenever they want ... but they expect my wife or I to do it. They also don't pay their rent or share of utilities, and expect food to be included.

1 pointSnow tyres are actually f**king awesome when used correctly... very soft compound, very useless on dry warm roads. Can't just ban something because the NZ Public doesn't understand how it works. and I don't know where you got the 80k limit from. Bridgestone Blizzak's (example) are "R" Rated, which is 170kph.

1 pointThis is the best you are gunna get for now, just to proove i got one. It has personalised plate 20O2TI

1 pointPicked up a '72 2002ti last weekend, white early body with the circle taillights, yum. Unfortunately the car in reality is anything but yum, but hey always up for a challenge! Apart from the quick wank over it that night, today was first chance i have had to have a look over it. 3 out of 4 wheels had seized brakes which made it very difficult to pick up, and then put into my garage once home So tonight i did a front calliper and rear drum delete so that it moves and i can push it around as needed etc. Next thing to turn my attention to is the engine, and bring it back into service after sitting for about 7 years. its gunna be slow progress.... haha

1 pointgunna be pretty cool alright! and I'm sure you will do it a lot better than most of the 13b e30s out there

1 pointI've been dying to have the torque discussion with somebody. Rotarys deliver their torque much differently to a piston engine. Torque is purely "rotational force" where as power is torque multiplied by RPM. A rotary doesnt have as much "peak torque" as an equivalent piston engine nor does it deliver peak torque as early, but typically has a flatter, broader curve. The more area under the line on the dyno graph, the better. The age old "V8s have lots of torque" is a good one, the V8 simply delivers torque earlier and drops off earlier, so a V8 can have low power (torque with a low RPM multiplier) this will still shred tyres, but it wont pull and pull and pull! The rotarys ability to rev combined with a flat torque curve is an awesome experience! Simply put, the terms "torque" and "power" only tell part of a story, to get the full picture you must know where in the rev range the torque is produced. So my desire for a 4.1:1 is purely to match the RX7 gearbox and to compliment the 13b's love of rpms. That said, I didnt chose the rotary for my car based on torque or power alone. I dont dislike V8s or big sixes (my other car is a big six). I chose it for the wide power band, the weight, the size and of course the sound and smell! I can pickup the 13b fully dressed with turbo and manifolds, attached to the gearbox and lift from the engine end off the ground. I cant do that with an M20/M50 engine on its own... Thats ALOT of front end weight saved. Dont take this like I'm saying rotaries are the best choice, I'm still open minded to all swaps, but for my application its going to be a sh*t load of fun! After all, thats why we do what we do isnt it? This car of mine should, depending on when it comes on boost, deliver peak torque at around 4k rpm and keep it relatively steady all the way to 8000rpm, leading to almost 200kw at the rear wheels in stock trim without porting. Tell me that wont be fun in an E30??

1 pointOnly 2x rules i really have here is the shed and driveway are mine and off limits, and music, movies and sex need to be kept at appropriate volume, none wants to hear you bass drops or rhythmic grunting

1 pointThats a bullshit rule. Everyone clean up their own mess / dishes in the kitchen. Dont eat other peoples food. General respect for each other, incl noise etc. It's not really that hard unless you're living with sh*t heads or students. Im sure students are prob the worst, only benefit with students is partys on the reg and meeting new people(girls) all the time.

1 pointIf im roof down in my cabby between March and Mid January (not the other way lol) Heater on full noise at the feet, full noise at the face. Done.

1 pointThis is a joke, I just failed a WOF the other day for an insecure gear knob and people can run around on dodgy old tyres like those. Wow, just wow.
-
1 pointFabricators have now finished. Big thanks to the great workmanship of Colin @ Quest Fabrication. Next step will be with the panel/paint shop for shaping of the doors/petrol flap and painting. Nice to be able to fit the Work wheels and/or OEM 18`s/19`s

1 pointAsk Paul Walker's opinion on 10 year old tyres.. oh wait.
-
1 pointNah mate, have you not seen the ads on TV? It's the people who drive at 10km over the limit that cause accidents. Got nothing to do with road worthiness

1 pointosx and ios is a lot more fluid and smooth to use IMO. And there is clearly no big suprises from one version to the next. anyone who used osx lion can use yosemite. i think w7 is still the 'best' windows currently for the general user. I actually really like w8 and how well it automatically gets the drivers (osx doesnt have this issue... stupid microsoft!) but w8 has some issues that most people dont like. such as the lacking start button, which is easily fixed with a simple software patch, and just a few other niggles i think w10 will be great but still needs a lot of time before its fully useable without issues imo

1 pointWhy do you have a data cap you noob? Ring your telco and tell them you are going to can them and move to another company that has no cap for cheaper. Then they'll just match whatever you can find online. It's pretty sh*t house that they don't give you a courtesy call asking if you want to upgrade. My girlfriends parents were paying $12x a month for 10 gigs until about a month ago.

1 pointdont upgrade to windows 10.... yet leave it at 7. its still the best microsoft OS

1 pointAt last the collection of underneath bits is complete. The clutch & flywheel took nearly 4 months to arrive ex USA via kiwishipping. The nzd was a lot stronger back then so buying this lot now wouldn't be as fun. Major surgery carried out next week including : - clutch - flywheel - rear main seal - driveshaft guibo and centre bearing - engine & trans mounts - new exhaust fasterners and mountings - gear shifter rebuild with all new bushings and fittings.
