2 pointsHi everyone, Thought we'd join up here since we now have a couple of e39s. We love these cars. We think that they are the best looking BMWs ever and that Chris Bangle is the prince of darkness We got into these cars a couple of years ago after buying a white 1997 520i for no other reason than it was cheap and looked nice. Didn't even need it - already had 4 vehicles. Fast forward to today and we have just added a metallic black 2003 530i Msport to the fleet for the wife. We knew what we were after it just took some time for the right car to come up. 130,000km, leather, full documented service history and not least of all - NO sunroof!! We now have 6 vehicles and tempted to add a 540i manual 6 speed to the fleet. Would keep the 520i though as a runabout and garage the others to keep km down - maybe take em out on nice days. Look forward to learning from and maybe meeting some of you Sandy

2 pointsThis whole argument is stupid, both sides of it. Yes there are ferns on graves overseas, yes there are many thousands of gravestones without ferns on them too. Currently deceased servicemen are buried in a casket dressed with the current flag, and it does hold a special importance to soldiers. Unfortunately many don't understand that importance as they have never stood to attention morning and night as it is raised and lowered. They have never fired a 21 gun salute to say goodbye to a friend, or hoisted the casket dressed in the flag. Many of those that have, and indeed everyone I have spoken too have said that the flag holds a special place in their heart, myself included. To belittle that importance without knowing it personally, as many journalists and others have done so, I find to be extremely insulting. Yes there are reasons why people may want to change the flag, but that particular one is not a good one at all. The RSA hold their position on it for a reason, we may not fully understand it, however we should still respect it.

2 pointsThank you. Made my engine mount adapters today. Used 12mm steel, might be overkill a little but when I'm dragging off Evos and Skylines the last thing I want to be worrying about is the engine falling out under the car, haha. Would love to leave them this finish but they will rust so I am coating them. Also began repairing my spoiler. Got a partial refund from the seller which we agreed on. He was super good to deal with so I'm happy. The damage: In repair: More updates to come. Hoping to paint my valve cover and intake manifold tomorrow.

1 point$5k - possibly a bit less for a Bsporter! Runs well, everything works - including an aftermarket bluetooth head unit (original nav/audio/comp unit comes with). Body is pretty straight tho front windscreen rubber is perished (tho no leaks) and the front spoiler is cracked on each side under the fog lights (which work). I bought the car around 6 mths ago from a fellow Bimmersporter here in Wellington as I needed an auto commuter following surgery. It's now done around 148km and hasn't missed a beat in the time I"ve owned it. It's ex Japan so is pretty well optioned, vin is: GX91315 so check it out. No rush to sell but keen to get something a bit more fun to drive now I've recovered and can probably change gears again. If I've still got it in July will give it a service, get a new warrant and chuck another years rego on there - which of course will be reflected in the price, and chuck it on Tard Me. In the meantime, someone on here can get a relative bargain, just as I did. It's not perfect but looks good and goes well. No service history but clean engine bay and cooling system looks to have been refurb'd by a radiator place in Chch; and Greg gave it an oil/filter service just before I got it. Cheers Smithy

1 pointCar is sold subject to a 'supposed expert' checking it out (perhaps it's one of you guys who seem to know so much about stuff you've never laid eyes on). Happy buyer, happy (but grieving) seller. Thanks for your support Jon and Bruce.

1 pointIt was above the marker so 2.5 and 3.5mm depth, but yes, fairly low. When I sold the Audi the tread was a similar depth so the comparison is valid.

1 pointResurrecting this Stirling silver Kiwi new `90 M325i. Came to me with mainly superficial damage. New frontal tech 2 parts and respray will get it looking like new again. AC Schnitzer 16`s, AC steering wheel and AC exhaust will give it the AC theme.

1 pointPicked up a parts car from Wellington. Manual converted 320i with an m20b23 transplant. Running one cylinder down though could be terminal for the b23. Robbing the good bits off it. Sun visors, door lock mechanism (now all my door locks and central locking work!) fog lights, 14" BBS including a spare and all centre caps!

1 pointIt should never, ever have been treated as a left and right debate. Lefties single handedly ruined the exercise by politicising the whole thing. If the Nats had said right this is the flag we are changing to, then of course there needs to be debate, but when as much as is possible of the process is decided by the people, left and right shouldn't come into it at all.

1 pointWow, love the 530i... my cars less elderly, less travelled, more powerful, NZ new, completely roofed - twin... haha! And welcome

1 pointStill plenty of time for the price to increase, and the seller sounds like bit of a prick.

1 pointStill think it's taking the piss to call a car built in Jan 08 a 2010 car. Would it be worth as much as a 2010 car built in 2010? I don't think so. It's built to 2008 specs, missing any production changes that would have come with a 2010. Oh well, now I know it's something to watch out for when car shopping.
