2 pointsI'm amazed someone buys one of those and thinks "you know what this car needs? more torque!". Absolute madman Guess you can impress/frighten people by initiating burnouts at motorway speeds haha.
-
2 pointsI'm not trying to get too personal here. But may I ask you how mechanically experienced you are ? Do you have the tools and experience to do this sort of work. These are not 1980 Toyota Corollas Whats your perceived budget and time frame to do the repairs ? I'm only asking you these questions so I can gauge what advice I might give you .

2 pointsF10 M5. Downpipes and a tune. Everything else stock. Now I giggle and sh*t myself at the same time. ?
-
1 pointNot terribly clean in this pic. Not many modifications planned - towbar and a bit of coding? Don't want to lower it despite the massively tall x-drive suspension, it barely clears my driveway as it is...
-
1 pointEverything I've ordered via FCP using their fed ex shipping (quite reasonably priced) has arrived in a week with no GST (orders under $1k) That was all through March and April too ?
-
1 pointSlightly off topic but I've got an order almost ready to go with FCP. The summary doesn't look to include tax, and when calculating the duty on the "what's my duty" website it says no duty on shipments <$1000nzd. I thought the new rules stated GST is to be applied to everything? Probably an easy question for someone.

1 pointThe S52 is being sold by BM World further up the page. You will need a bigger budget to do the motor, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, driveshaft, diff (depending on gearbox type used) and cooling system ETC.....and there will be quite a few Extras

1 pointNot sure, got a leather steering wheel wrap, ordered late March from Ali Express China - arrived in less than 3 weeks if I recall - was pleasantly surprised.
-
1 pointExactly. It is Aventador performance for less than the cost of a brand new i30N.
-
1 pointKeen to know how you got delivery from China... Unless it was via a courier other than NZPost, who while woefully slow most of the time have taken it to a whole new level. The source tracking says the package is at Auckland airport and has been for several weeks; NZPost say it is still in China. Tracking has said that for over 6 weeks - the order was placed just before we moved to Level 3. First time around. Fortunately it's not critical or valuable.

1 pointAll good, not too much hands on exp. But i studied automotive to level 7 grad. Not a mechanic but know my ways around tools too. 3 years mechanic shop experience in general service and parts replacements. TBH, Never did a full engine rebuild, this gonna be my first. did a 2000 mondeo wagon last year pickapart engine was alright. Started to think the s52 swap would be worth it. Since rebuilding gaskets gonna be exp anyway. 3-5k budget and time frame could be long as its not my main car. Just wanting to make this car a summer car. Was that you with the s52 engine?

1 pointLooks fantastic with the Style 23's - one of the best wheel-chassis combo's IMO - clean as a whistle. I quite like the more yellow beams on an older car too.

1 pointYou can't diagnose recorded noises on a computer. It can even be hard when your sitting or driving in the car. A stethoscope, two people and a hoist is often required to locate noises.

1 pointSimilar to me, I have a youshop parcel that's been sitting at international departure for almost a month and Nzpost can't tell me when it'll move, just pointing me at the covid 19 stuff on their site, which says a 3 day delay.
-
1 pointnot sure what i was thinking haha of course the csl is smg only duh. maybe the m2 is manual m2 comp is a big thumbs up from me!
-
1 pointCSL is SMG only - take your point but even if you're a real enthusiast, you can only drive one at a time. I'd love either but probably take the M2 comp
-
1 pointForgot to mention it has a full set of oem 4wd mats included and these were on since new so the factory floor and boot mat is in pristine condition. Cleaned up the interior today so snapped some pics. Very clean for a 15 year old vehicle

1 pointOk heres the breakdown. For an E70, it comes in pre-facelift and facelift models with the switchover year in 2010. Assuming you're looking for diesel, the preface-lift E70 came in 2 variants of the M57 engine. - 3.0d is single turbo - 3.0sd is twin turbo - 35d is the same as 3.0sd Around 2010 they changed the naming to 30d, 35d, 40d, 50d and this is where it gets a bit muddy. - 30d = N57 single turbo - 40d = N57 twin turbo - 50d = N57 triple turbo!!! The main price difference in the E70s after the engine comes from : - Facelift vs Prefacelifted - Mspec vs standard spec - 5 or 7 seats. - Interior trim (leather, heated, ventilated etc) - Panaramic sunroof - Idrive version - 360 Camera, etc If you are towing, you'll want one with "additional towing capacity" on the options list. This typically means you have air suspension in the rear.
-
1 pointSeems really well sorted and a more realistic price than some recent ones... https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2613539262.htm?rsqid=c88cc489b91f4e65a3c2c8d31f529c30-001 Beautiful colour combo with the gold LMs / Blue paint and Dove Grey vadars. Edit: Just saw the plate and realised its a Bimmersport car

1 pointE70 is the chassis code e.g. vehicle shape from 2006 to 2013 xDrive is the name that BMW gave to their 4wd drive system 3.0d etc is the engine type. 30d 3 litre turbo diesel, 40d twin turbo diesel, 50d tri-turbo diesel. Best thing to look for is some decent service history, it'll save you money in the long run knowing it has been looked after properly

1 pointWell I got a set of Style 101s which where a cost option upgrade on the E65. Staggered 20s which I wasn’t super sure on, but in the end am very happy with the result. I think they suit the style without being super OTT. Rides great and zero rubbing, perfect offset and fit. They need a little work however for $800 with Pilot Super Sports that have 3-4mm left I can hardly complain ?

1 pointOk so been away for a paint, bit of a mission. Used a guy I heard off, knew it would be cheap and really wanted to tidy it up. Unfortunately it’s a great 2M job, and good 1M job and definite areas of average up close, em well, it was a cheap respray. On the upside all the messy coloured panels are now the same, fading and peeling clear coat all gone, front bumper done and colour coded rocker panels completed. If I want a better job I’ll probably get it wrapped, at least the base is better now. Now I’m after sorting the wheels, 19’s or 20’s and likely a dish look, if I can stretch to some softlines all the better. Then headliner replacement.... on it goes Still better then being the bird I hit on the way down to the tron last week ?
-
1 pointReplaced heater control valve and tensioner pulley, old one was pretty fried! Putting it mildly, whole thing collapsed Still got a squeaking belt so have ordered a replacement hopefully that cures it ...

0 pointsYeah, I paid VAT and then GST, and then a covid surcharge, and then a high value surcharge and then the shipping fee... all for it to sit at the airport with no communication. Sad face.
