They're excellent tyres. Handled great on my modded 335i, and I've properly thrashed them on backroads and the track. I liked them more than the PS4 on that car. PS4 had more ultimate grip but it just seemed to 'snap' when it lost grip in the wet, while the Goodyears always had a nice smooth transition that was easily controllable. Even the traction control would cut out harshly with the PS4, but was able to smoothly modulate power on the Goodyears. Might just be that the slightly wider than stock PS4 wasn't a good match for that car as they generally have excellent reviews. Got the stock MPSS on my M4 and not sure how I feel about them so far, they felt a bit 'snappy' in some situations but part of that could be the car and me still getting a feel for it...

Anyone else aware of this function?

Gutting the cats is worth doing. I've heard alot of exhaust setups on a m52b28 and the cheap redline stainless mufflers sounded better than the supersprints and remuses which suprised me.

Hi, needing a spare 16” to go in the 530i wagon. Ideally as close to Pukekohe as possible. Thanks

Filing for bankruptcy 4 times in 20 years says something about the underlying business model, or its management... would have thought being a wheel supplier would be a tough business, total commodity.

Good value but as with any high mileage 335i, there's a solid chance of an expensive problem. As long as you're ok with the risk and can afford the occasional big repair bill, it'll be a blast. The owner has already basically set fire to a big pile of money by modding it and fixing a heap of common issues that he'll never see a return for, so it'll be good value for you and you'll hopefully only have to burn up a small wheelbarrow full of cash to maintain it Looks so bog standard on the outside, it'll be a good sleeper if that's what you're after. Nobody will be expecting it to light up the tyres and launch like a rocket!

Good call. I've been running F1's for years on my M3 and have no complaints.

It fluctuates a lot, between 80 and the highest ive seen is like 105, you can watch it change modes in realtime during an italian tune up (where it drops temps the more "italian" the tune up )

Hopefully they don't get bought out by a corporate vulture company and start getting made in China...

Cheers all - went with some Goodyear Eagle F1s to say square for now and to be honest there is not much out there at the moment, this UK review of 3 tyres sealed it for me. Granted review was with Skoda but beggars cant be be too fussy , still intend to purchase a set of style 24s or 39s. Oh and the price - $239ea fitted

Yeah you can pick them up for less than 10k. Guys in the DMV were buying them just to strip for parts for projects.

Replaced the door actuator in rear passenger door. Easier than the internet would have you believe. Haha. only slight issue was the lock knob stalk falling off and me needing to remember which way it went around. new actuator worked first time. Now waiting on some new Butyl tape to seal her back up again. new one on top, old on bottom. Old one had lost all its resistance and drive, i think you can see evidence of that when comparing the the state of the black "strips" in the larger opening.

Having seen what the PPI on my Mini came back with, I wouldn't put much faith in a dealer done PPI either. Not worth the few cents of paper its printed on.

The most likely issue at that mileage will be the turbos. He states there is no waste gate rattle so if that is the case you are probably ok. That said he has MHD installed so there is a WG rattle fix in the software, it doesn't fix the problem it just masks the rattle so ask about that. With a stage 2+ tune if the coils or injectors are no good it will be quite obvious, also the upgraded intercooler charge pipe is a problem solved. The trans service, waterpump replacement, starter replacement, catch can etc are all nice to see. A stage 2+ N54 is a quick car be cautious especially if its wet. Early N54 cars as mentioned had forged crank, rods and very good pistons, they also had the big bolted diff so fitting an LSD is somewhat easier and very worthwhile.

Thanks, yeah it’s been checked. I got a Guibo with the last parts order, so that’s standing by. I have some new rotors turning up today hopefully, will see if they make a difference.

Massive day this past Saturday, helps to have a good mate with eletrical engineering skills, as we set about installing paddle shift and MFW intothe E39. It was a Solid 6 hour day day of trim removal and reinstall, wiring, creating new paddle shift looms, ill fitting airbag, straightneding brackets andthen good fitting airbags. For the paddles shift a new loom was created running from the slock spring to the shifter area to intersect without cutting the steptronic wiring in the shifter area. this allows paddlesot be used once the gear stick is moved into sport mode. Genuine OEM wiring, connectors and clips were used for that factory look, fit and finish and to ensure all bits were new and sure to work. The MFW (cruise and stereo control) was a bit more indepth with Factory installation guides and wiring used, splicing intothe LCM and running 1 wire to the DME, The airbag bracket was bent, fomr previous air bag removal at wreckers or by former owner?? so that needed removing and straightening up, now fits perfectly. after all ofthis and a good vacuum, I now have OEM cruise control, stereo control and sport mode paddle shift in my 2001 530i. now i need an alignment, also due to new tires last week and i'll be good to go oh except fo rthe freshly failed door lock actuator - doh!

Hyper have Goodyear Assurance Triplemaxs in that size and on special - four for $490... you're not likely to find a better tyre/price combo in that size.

New cabin filter in, one that came out was dirty but not terrible, probably replaced already at some time during the car's life. Much, much easier than the PITA e36 equivalent which is at the back of the interior centre console. I also installed the e92 M3 front anti-roll bar and new droplinks and am slightly amazed at how much a difference it's made, it's noticeably stiffer and really aids turn in. In fact I'm glad I didn't install it immediately before or after the alignment as I might not have been able to tell the difference with so many changes. The replacement drop links are much beefier than the originals that came out. This thinner section on the 130 bar and bushing flanges on the M3 bar are the only obvious differences between the two bars but there may be other meaningful ones, they weigh about the same. However the aluminium M3 brackets and captive bushes are far superior (and lighter) than the originals. And finally the replacement droplinks are also superior.

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing and drove 6 or more E60 M5s before going with the B5. I struggled with smg box.. great when flooring it but not so great when not imho. The servicing and issues with the V10 are well documented. Any issues with H1 are those that are related to those normally associated with N62, Valve Stem Seals, Alternator Bracket/Gasket Oil Leak (Replaced), Coolant Transfer Pipe Leak (replaced), Valve Cover & Valve Cover Gasket Oil Leaks (replaced). Alpina specific issues are cracked coolant expansion tank (replaced) and the bearing/seal wear or failure in the supercharger. When dismantling I checked the oil collection and appeared to be in spec at approx 5-10ml. Its true I’ve had to help school local BMW dealer and double check part numbers before they order but that’s probably me ?. Still help saves delays or expense. Would love it to go to someone who’ll enjoy and take care of it and happy to negotiate. Only selling as I cringe every time I have to put our recently acquired dog in the back seat. A touring version of these would be ideal.
