    Yep, sold. I bought it. It’s in as new condition. Sure, you can buy a “tidy” one for around 10k with 100,000km on it but I would rather spend and extra $9,000 for one that’s literally in “as new” condition with 25,000km on the clock. You won’t find a nicer one.

    No posts for a little while as have just been chipping away in the background and making plans for things needed to mount the engine for the (hopefully) final time ... heater lines, wire routing, sealing the cabin blower air intake etc. I did pull the engine again and have fitted the shifter relocation kit finally so I can make car noises and change gears At the same time I shortened the dust cap so the Spicer 1350 slip yoke can fit without fouling. Onto the VERY exciting developments this week ... received the dry sump housing and rebuild kit needed to change mounting from right to left. On the same day the Sikky Manufacturing slim steering linkage arrived. Dry sump is fully stripped and now ready to reassemble with the new housing. By far the most exciting thing to happen was the arrival of the dry sump oil pan which I designed and had made via https://hubs.com ... looks FANTASTIC, so stoked. Lets hope it fits up alright Will need to finalise the design of the oil scraper plate before it can be mounted up permanently.

    Open flap, lock, fill gas, close flap, pay, come back, unlock, flap falls shut.

    It's a 4 door E46. Nobody cares if it's not pure.

    So much want. Alpine white, no sunroof, m tex interior. I assume this is being imported as I was under the impression there was only one AW coupe in NZ and it was a sunroof car. Not to mention the interior, which in addition to mine will be the only other factory specced car left on the road. 40k asking seems very... low https://www.trademe.co.nz/3131580110

    Great car well bought Rowan. Cars in this condition are only original once 🙂 Never mind throwing money into restoring a shabby car, they are not quite the same as the original when finished.

    okay maybe im also an idiot who could have been doing that the whole time

    @KwSthe temptation is very much there. I don't need two M3's, I don't need two M3's...

    The AW is desirable but I suspect there are only a few of us that want mTex. Looks like a nice enough car, and a prime candidate for manual swap.

    Yes, it's not even in the country yet. Photos look like they were taken using a digital camera made at the same time as the car. Seat and steering wheel wear looks far in excess of the claimed mileage of the vehicle, caveat emptor, especially as it's unlikely to come with service history and it's an early example.

    There’s quite a few threads around on this topic have a search for those. I’ve personally brought in three cars, but all were quite a while ago, it was quite straightforward if you read up on what was needed - NZTA web-site was very useful, plus talking to your local compliance guys to get them on-board. Rules are a bit tougher now, but a new Yaris should be fine.

    Nice and original is what I prefer @Inthegarage I'm kicking myself for not moving faster on one in the SI a couple of weeks ago. Live and learn. As with the wrapped one @treone I think $35k+ is over priced to be honest. The silver one has sat around for a couple of months now. It has everything I want, but I'd prefer to spend up to $25k and have the maintenance work done myself so I know exactly what's been done.

    I have no idea how this particular car got stolen, but if it was stolen from a KFC carpark, then the chances are that it was an opportunistic theft. A few years back I saw a couple of security camera videos that showed guys hanging around in a gas station, waiting for people to leave their car unattended when they went inside to pay for gas. Then, you would see one guy sidle up to the car and check to see if the keys were in the ignition, and if they were, into the car and gone. From that time on I made sure to always take the keys out and put them in my pocket when filling my car and going inside to pay. Cheers...

    Bit of a stupid one, but never know if anyone has these lying round from an interior swap, and usually people seem to just bin door cards anyway I'm trying to avoid fabricating the speaker bracket on the inside of the e91 rear door cards as I used them on another door card. Any one got any lying round still?

    Didn't move at $39k, won't move at $59k. What do they think it is - a 1988 325i? 🤣

    That old chestnut. Whats it been doing all these years of not being used? How many hours are on the engine? Whats the service history like, have all the perished rubber bits been replaced? Low KM is a have use by sellers to ask higher prices from people that want bragging rights.

    Friends don't let friends go to VTNZ. Find a good independent, develop a trust relationship with them instead. VTNZ commented on my WoF sheet that the oil was low. The oil was in fact perfect - they didn't know how to read an M54 dipstick.

    Me? Not much. Miss M? She bought a 2013 116i. Really is a lovely little car.

    @M3AN Not having a cert when its a requirement, is the same to an insurer as no wof or no reg is. If the car is not legally allowed on the road, you void your insurance.

    @M3AN The insurance company considers that the car is not legally allowed on the road, because it doesn't have the required cert for its modifications. You can also get done for not listing car modifications with your insurer. I have a friend with a skyline with performance mods on, and didn't disclose the mods to the insurer. When it got written off his insurer gave him nothing. Its just not worth the risk of not being paid out for your $20,000 car, for the sake of a $100 pair of spacers.
