Open flap, lock, fill gas, close flap, pay, come back, unlock, flap falls shut.

I think a Honda Elite scooter from the 1980's has been missing since a collision with this car. [Image linked from Wikipedia under CC SA 3.0] That front bumper - at least in its current state on that car, at this time, is dugly.

Well, they are pretty agricultural ...

My favourite loophole was the spate of E30 M3's getting registered as farm vehicles before they crossed the 20 year old statute.

mate that is so sad. After all that time, energy, not to mention the money. Hope your next project treats you better.

I don’t think so, it’s supposed to be based on the arrival date into NZ from the shipping import documents. I know of a few cars that have fallen foul of this and had to be re-exported and then re-imported. On the other hand there are plenty of cars that are complied every week that shouldn’t be. Here’s hoping the government will finally get tougher on this now they are pushing the new emissions rules. 2007/08 into Japan were most likely EU4 compliant from factory so wouldn’t need to be 20 years old nor SIV.

Needs a fair bit of TLC to bring it up to scratch - not been used for about 2 years will cause a few issues. Got some nice goodies on it, leather, M20B25, not sure about that front bumper.. Good little project for someone who is handy, and can do rust repairs.

I think the 2JZ is cool - because it’s different but the body kit ruins it IMO. It just doesn’t suit an Euro. But hey - people are going gaga over RWB Porsches. Each to their own. For $75k I would rather get an E24 M6. Or even an S54 powered E30 could be had with change in hand.

OK... I watched the first video and it appears that one car is faster than the other in a straight line Had to watch with the sound off as the guy who organises the drags is a blunt axe and provides zero real insight into any of the cars he features. The second video was more interesting. The Rimac guy has had an uphill battle to turn his dreams into reality, and deserves all the success he can get. His account of how Hammond came to write off the prototype was revealing. I had previously seen those other two Top Gear clowns goading Hammond into out driving his ability in his final run up the hill, and had wondered what the real facts were. I might add that shamelessly publishing the crash video to get the internet dollars after putting their colleague in hospital through their stupid actions, is unforgivable. Profiting from another persons misfortune when you contributed to it, is not a class act in my book. Never the less, I stand by my previous comments. Just this morning I am reading that the government is putting in place regulations to push us into electric vehicles. Even if they have carefully engineered artificial engine noise generators piped into the interior, they will never replace the smell of Castrol R in the morning Cheers...

That's an awful lot of car for 21k, surely you could pay that, drive it for a couple of years, and then get your money back?

Yes, it's not even in the country yet. Photos look like they were taken using a digital camera made at the same time as the car. Seat and steering wheel wear looks far in excess of the claimed mileage of the vehicle, caveat emptor, especially as it's unlikely to come with service history and it's an early example.

I mean, sure its cool...... but is it really 75K cool?? yeah, really don't think so somehow, I fully appreciate the time and effort that has gone into it though perhaps a potential buyer will have some drug money to make disappear, because i'm certain if anyone had 75k.... that wouldn't be the car of choice 😂 shoot me for my thoughts but I can't be the only one

Final update on the car - I’ll leave this thread up to assist others. After much frustration with wiring, expensive bills that seemed never ending, it actually passed a VTNZ wof (which it then needed to fail for the cert...) and had cert booked. However it wasn’t running well and struggling when VANOS kicked in. What I hadn’t realised was that this was due to the oil pickup gradually getting stuffed full of metal filings. Queue 2 big end bearings shot, one brand new oil pickup toast, non running engine and more bills to diagnose said engine I was over it. I sold it from the workshop, never even got it back home. Learnings? Rust is balls, and M52B28 engine would have been easier.
