3 pointsA no options CSL is 1385kg corner weight scale checked. Your aircon and radio versions are around 1405kg. 1570kg is actually the BMW quoted number and I have seen them on scales much heavier (over 1600kg) The amount of bespoke items that went into making the e46 M3 CSL light is mind blowing and till this day we are still discovering items that weren’t listed correctly in the ETK or official documents that were implemented to shave a few kgs here and there.

2 pointsNo, there is a $120k red nz new rx2 coupe for TM sale in PalmNth at the moment but that is not mine. Did see the $150k one and yes, it's special. Our white one is a BaT import from Seattle that is being rhd coverted in Dunedin as we speak and I am hanging out for its completion.

1 pointI'm moving to a new place tomorrow, my spares supply has not reached the giddy heights of GJM Mechanicking LTD. The Mazda doesn't require spares being kept in stock... 😛

1 pointAwesome car mate, looks fantastic with the black and white, although I may be slightly biased, good to hear the positive experience with the rt615k+ tires, will give them a go on my 135i, should fit fine on 18x8 et38 I think.

1 pointFor sale. My 335i, that has had the following: VRSF Inlet Pipe VRSF Down Pipe 5 inch intercooler Alloy Charge Pipe Hybrid Turbo charger Custom tuned by Twisted Tuning for NPD100+ Fuel (BP 98 is also ok). Coils and 1 Step Colder plugs Valve Cover and Gasket High Pressure Fuel Pump 2 years ago. Transmission and Diff serviced. Has run 11.988 1/4 Mile at 119mph (At a Drag Strip with Timeslip) Video of it running 11.988 1/4 mile. https://youtu.be/5_1FZIZZT8k?t=139 I have owned this car for almost 3 years and have had no serious issues, servicing is up to date. Its been a very good vehicle over the 3 years I have owned it. I have no use for this car anymore as I have moved into a 135i with N54 engine which I have made stupid fast, this car is pretty fast though, but I got an F20 116i as a economical alternative for a daily driver. That said this car can easily average 7.4L/100k on a road trip.

1 pointOh yes I agree it’s not your job. Just raise it as a possibility given the different configurations available and that we’re located at the bottom of the world…

1 pointProblem with electric cars is they need high peak load to be charged, problem with distributed generation is they don't produce all the time... maybe there is something that balances there? We've looked at DG at home, there's a huge opportunity to incentivize and improve grid loadings via distributed generation and storage (already cars on the market that can feed back in and power your home) for the best technical outcome, however the payback/pricing structure makes it a waste of time. Conversion losses when storing it in batteries aren't great, maybe 10% round trip, though having generation closer to consumption removes grid load so you'd see less grid losses, maybe a few percent. Guess it depends how good the grid storage is whether it is worth it, not sure if we waste anything much during peaks with all our hydro... I think the ability for the grid managers to control the large loads is a good idea, taxing it any different to other electricity usage isn't though.

1 pointTry a CX5 2.2D ( KF ) . Easier to get in an out of than a f25. ( we grabbed 80 y/0 plus parents to compare ) More torque than the 35i engine and 6.7 L/100 km average so 700 km between fills 150 kg lighter. Wife brought our one as colour was important rather than the 50 shades of grey f25s that are available. Was also easier for here as she felt she didn’t have to climb up as with F25 It’s worked out be a great SUV and ideal for all of our hospital visits between myself , mother and farher inlaw. Not a euro but actually a nice drive with plenty of torque. Good luck with your chemo. Hope it goes well

1 pointThe E46 318i failed it's WoF today. 😢 Both front "anti-roll bar links". Somehow I missed this when checking; there's not been any noises or similar, and they looked OK from my 'lying on back on the driveway' perspective. So that'll be part number 5 on the diagram. Which (Colin - @Young Thrash Driver - will be unsurprised to hear) I have spares of...

1 pointGot to be the most purposeful, loved and well used E87 going around?

1 pointGot my WOF. Continuing to work on the interior parts so it is mostly mint when I get seats and door cards reupholstered. Today I refinished my parcel tray in charcoal, added rear headrests (butchered some other seats for parts) and changed my huge ugly 6x9s that needed 20mm spacers for some sleek 5x7s that look much more OEM and cover the awkwardly sized premium speaker holes. Huge difference - looks so much more premium - but very tricky to photograph due to rear window reflections - here is how much sun fade has occurred over 35 years. Will do my carpets in the same dark grey soon.

1 pointWas presented with a coolant leak in the 130 today... pulled out of the garage this morning and there was a small pool on the floor, jumped in it this evening for the (short) trip home and got a dash warning and left another small pool in my parking spot at work. Didn't get much beyond 100*C on the ~9km trip home but it's a problem that will need addressing. Long weekend on Waiheke this one so no time to look at it until next weekend so I'll have to carry around some demineralised water or premix G48 for the time being. To be fair, it's the only mechanical problem I've had with it in 2.5 years and ~10k kms so I can't complain. And well, BMW cooling systems, it was hardly unexpected. 🙄 Better than blowing the bottom out of the radiator at the top of the harbour bridge, 20km from home, in the old 328 I suppose...

0 points227,8XXkm Well, looks like Barbara's on her last legs. Showed no signs of trouble coming to work yesterday, on the way home however, the engine felt really rough and sputtery right from the go. Sure enough the yellow engine light soon lit up. Somehow managed to limp home without having to get a tow truck but car is essentially undriveable in its current state and it doesn't seem like a quick & easy fix either. Suspected her to have a vacuum leak somewhere, but now with fuel cutting off as well, it could instead be a fault with the injectors/fuel pump or any number of other issues. With the new engine in the process of being built, it doesn't look like chasing down the issue is worth the hassle, so might be time to park her up and start prepping for the engine swap. Was fun while it lasted. Managed to squeeze a whopping 13,000km out of her in my ownership so far. What a solid return on investment. f**k me. I've been guilty of taking dragging this project along at an overly relaxed pace up to now, was honestly due a good kick up the ass. Unfortunately, a few weeks back I we decided to use up all of my remaining budget on some silly, childish endeavour of getting all the windows double-glazed at home. Something about the cats being cold in the winter and whatnot. Ridiculous. Still a few weeks out now before I can order in the rest of the parts on my shopping list, but do have quite a bit to sort out in the meantime anyway. Long weekend will be fun. Just hoping the new 330i won't need much for its WoF this month, otherwise I'll be left with my pushbike...
