6 pointsI reckon the play is buy two cheap ones. What are the chances the exact same things break on both?
-
3 points100% The exact same things will break on all of them, if you are lucky not at the same time though. But budget more like 5-7k a year for maintenance and factor in the eye watering fuel consumption, if you can live with that do it!

2 pointsSo many people talk themselves out of owning M cars. E46 bearings / smg / subframes , e90 bearings , e60 bearings , f80 crank hub etc etc. Plenty of perceived reasons as to why not to. From personal experience you’ve got to do it. And your choice is such a stonking car . Do it before you regret and wonder what it might have been like.

1 pointI know that this has been discussed to death, but with OEM discs and BMW pads I got fading and brake judder after 4 laps of Manfield. I use the car mostly on the road but with the occasional track day, and I don't want to have to replace the rotors every time I go on the track. The braking is really good, just not for long... Don't really want to go down the E46 330i route, I was thinking of slotted discs and EBC yellow pads. Anyone had experience with these? BTW its a 328 coupe...😁 Jo

1 pointI look after a considerable number of both systems at work ,used to love apple but since they dumbed it down to basically ios on a desktop and locked everything including the system drive not so much, Trying to get apple to work well in a windows network is nigh on impossible now. And yes I'm fully qualified in both and go back to windows 3.1 and mac 8. Apple tv is no match for a simple chinese no name windows tv box, especially if your into free stuff like popcorntime, torrents, kodi, skysports etc. A lot of things are still better on a web interface chrome/firefox/brave than the app version including trademe, dropbox, onedrive for example. Spotify is totally different on a browser to the app and I run that all weekend while doing the weekend stuff, sound is hooked up to the onkyo reciever. plenty of power and choices to run a huge photo music video library as well as gaming. add a webcam and its your portal to the grandkids overseas, you can even use it to record tv with a tivo like app if you want for later viewing currently using an intel nuc with a wireless keyboard touchpad combo a bit dearer than an appletv but well worth it and its just simple things like multiple web browsers with all their adblockers and extensions. Youtube with no ads, facebook, no ads, zoom , messenger video chat, windows 10 is so much better now with screen sharing, phone connections etc but it does need you to kinda know what your doing to get the best out of it. on the odd occasion I will click on a youtube link from my iphone and am reminded how I hate ads so much,

1 pointYOLO Baby!! You don't buy a v10 anything because it makes sense to the banker.
-
1 pointHowever, the (money) pitfall to be aware of with this scenario is that when you do something to one, you will do the same to the other, then vice versa. Thats when the money go-round begins, and you can’t stop it haha 🤣 my 2c if you are seriously considering an e60 M5 is - do it!
-
1 pointwith $10k quoted to fix it, I'll give you $2k for it At today's pricing you won't get anywhere near $10k for it.
-
1 pointCall Racebrakes and talk to them about disc/pad options. And possibly look at brake ducting upgrades.

1 pointI avoid the Apple ecosystem like the plague, being told how to use my tech, and being tracked whilst using it, is the worst consumption model I can think of. The irony with the the Unix thing is that both macOS and iOS are Unix. The proprietary nature of Apple tech, and their arrogance, breaks more things than necessary. They need to join the Apple Developer Programme... sure you don't get a lot of time but a couple of months preview should be enough. https://developer.apple.com/programs/ A large part of the problem automakers face is that they've built their digital platform also on proprietary tech... they've done if for competitive advantage but it's both dumb and unsustainable. They didn't learn the hard lesson mobile phone manufacturers like Nokia and Motorola have already demonstrated. Silly boys and girls.

1 pointI have Apple TV 4k on both TVs, and Amazon Fire TV 4k on both TVs. In both cases, the boxes outperform the built-in TV apps for picture and sound (TV is the latest sh*t-hot LG G2 65" from which I should rightly expect stellar performance, or a 3 yr old Sony that is a UI nightmare with decent picture, don't ask me about apps on it). The Amazon box is marginally better (than the ATV) on some content, it's got more grunt in the hardware. I have no issues with the Apple TV. It plays stuff easily from my NAS, as well as the apps that I use like numerous News apps, AppleTV+, Disney, Netflix. Seems the only people having issues with Apple are folks that expect to be needed under the hood to make things work. As soon as one accepts there's rarely any need to roll one's sleeves up with Apple, life is a great deal easier. It just works.

1 pointPre-Purchase Inspection by someone who *knows* the e60 M5 is essential. There are Autosure discounts as member of BMW Car Club NZ, not sure about anything offered by Bimmersport? You'll have to be cautious about year of manufacture, you could find yourself outside of MBI coverage. The e60 M5 is a very special car, very rewarding to drive. Buy carefully, it could be the difference between very very expensive, or just expensive maintenance. FWIW I was spending "more than a few k a year in maintenance" on my 545i... with an e60 M5 you're at the High Roller's table! You could buy my 545i, spark the joy, and your accountant would be happy too and cash in your pocket Food for thought. Welcome to Bimmersport! PS: mostly made of Aluminium, so not scared of water and not generally plagued by rust (unless a badly executed panel repair). The e60 (all drivetrains) likes to be cared-for, water is your enemy if drains are blocked and can kill a car with many of the computer modules being easily drowned. Regular routine maintenance reduces that risk significantly.

1 pointThe 997 is the Goldilocks of the modern 911’s and is such an epic car to drive especially in rear wheel drive. I found using it daily so easy to live with. Loving it in red. The 991 became that bit bigger and styling a little bloated.

1 pointGod I hate my Apple TV. The hardware and OS is generally good, but its limited by the apps which are kinda half cooked. Cant wait to replace my tv and bin the apple shite.
-
1 pointSorry to be blasphemous but I run everything via my Apple TV 4K 😬 have since day one. Must try the native apps sometime as I understand the quality, especially upscaling, is great (Apple TV is very good too of course).
-
1 pointActually no, I have an A80J also, amazing TV. I couldn't justify the price difference to the 90 given that you get very little for the extra money, and nothing that was relevant to me. Pro tip: if you have your TV hardwired to your home LAN (rather than WiFi) then grab yourself one of these (Amazon link), plug it in to the rear USB3 connection, swap your ethernet cable over, and upgrade your connection from 100Mb/s to 1Gb/s, inexplicably many modern smart TV's only come with 100 meg NIC's, including both the A80/90J's... smh. Disney+ over gigabit internet, via a gigabit adaptor, in glorious Dolby Vision + Atmos is astonishing and it can't hit its peak bitrate over a 100 meg connection.

1 pointI disagree with the premise that a Kardashian is similar to a cardigan. Mostly as a cardigan does have it’s uses.
-
1 pointI'll play. Similar to a cardigan, overlarge with leather elbows. Usually dark blue, green or burgundy. Three overlarge buttons to the front. Shaggy wool construction, extremely warm and comfortable to wear. Slight dribble marks and some serious stain evidence to lower left front. Comes with a characteristic odour of old engine oil with a suggestion of WD40, and slight overlay of aged cask whisky or bourbon. Best removed before the aged aunt or grandmother visits as it may create an offence, causing the wearer to be written out of the will.
