  4. Was assembled September 2002 so 5 months old before being rego'd here in NZ. Also as regards bring it up to M sport it is not only the springs, sway bars, bumpers front and rear, side skirts, road wheels, the interior hood lining, pillar trims, steering wheel, kick panels, seats, gear shift, interior lights and the little emblems so not a cheap exercise should you be able to get all the correct parts. As you are becoming aware it is a waiting game New Zealand doesn't have a very big market and it will take time for the right car for you to surface best of luck in your search hang in their.
  5. No help with the e36 Andy but had to renew the gear change linkage completely and the gearbox cross member on the e46 their was some 35 mm difference in length between the four and six set up. As for the drive shaft tried a combo of set ups front from this with rear from that but none in the end worked out so got the original one shortened by about 50 mm. Even loosing the lock nut and sliding the rear part of the drive shaft fully home on the splines it was still to long cost me about $550 with a crowd in Palmy. The main thing is to get the centre bearing to line back up with the mounting holes I found. Should you not have to get the shaft shortened I believe you may be able to do away with out drive shaft hoops could be wrong though. Have a look in the parts cat at the various parts should give you some clue's to any differences best of luck.

  10. Hi Martin not sure if this is of any help http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o526/Allanson54/Mobile%20Uploads/light%20set%20530_zps8dxvk0jl.jpg is of my 2002 e39 530i when I changed the lights to clears had some trouble getting things to seal up from memory. Not sure what I did in the end either doubled up on the sealing gaskets or used some sticky sponge type tape around the edges. Best of luck it's a pain when you find the boot full of water plus the electric gremlins that can follow it.
  11. Should you decide to re-power Dave research research and more research. As you noted the mechanical side is not to difficult but things can and do come unstuck quickly with the electrics on BM's and with it being a 7r. With things like is it infrared or radio remote entry, key type, which level of ews does the new unit have to current one, auto set up as to manual electronics, Different market items clusters etc, different types of DME and auto control units just to name a few items. Best of luck for what ever path you decide to take.
  12. Andrew give Geoff Gray a ring you might find that they are not to expensive new but would require painting. Pelican can get these items unprimed air duct $18.75 US NZ $27.50, cover $13.75 NZ$20.18 plus freight cost with about 5-7 days turn around. Be interesting to see what they are priced out at here in NZ and what the turn around is.
