  1. Hi brunch, Simon, what year is the e39, have opened up a few of the later model ones no big deal just fiddle and time consuming. The adjusters arent that expensive if you wanted to have a go at it yourself.
  2. Hi beemw: welcome to the forum what made you decide to try out a BMW. The lexus are a solid car all round and reliable to I'm informed. From your comments I think you will need to set yourself a few goals ie. how much do you want to spend now start looking in that price range and stick to it What type of beemer do you want Coupe, sedan, tourer/wagon, compact Manual or auto, year, colour, interior type etc etc That way you can narrow your search to a few cars very quickly. Do not wish to offend by stating the obvious but just pass on what I have found that worked for me while looking and still for another vehicle. Cheers best of luck
  3. Every one to his or her taste, not my cup of tea sorry do not like at all.
  4. The e39 seem to becoming into their own now, looks nice. That is a pity you could have had my 530 it's for sale, and the fuel conumption is not bad either. The one thing you may wish to consider is rear PDC or a reverse camera as the e39 is not easy to see when reversing, but well done on the purchase.
  5. Hunting for one myself at present. The e46 has a better build quality I'm told all the e36 prob's sorted out. They come with two engine sizes, N42b18 and n42b20. The 323ti e36 only came out in left hand drive so did not come to NZ as the 325ti e46 did and they do 0-100 in about 7.3 if memory serves me right there is a manual one for sale on trade me. Have looked at a number of them and sorry to say have not found one that really appeals so will keep looking. Oh check the windows and how secure they are in their tracks, rubber seals, door handles and windscreens etc. Try some of the brit and US sites they have some good info Cheers Allan
  6. Nice e39 until I saw those wheels!
  7. If you don't mind a six day wait have a look at Pelican Parts in the states
  8. Something is wrong if you have cut them out in 21,000k under "normal" driving conditions. Had these on the fronts of the 530i and only changed them to the rear as the outer edge grooves have disappeared, found them to be a good all round tyre. These have lasted 3 and half years done 62,000k with mainly highway use will find out soon if they need to be replaced WOF time coming up. These come in different compound types and wall ratings factors which need to be look at I have been told.
  9. Will be returning home from Auckland on Saturday would their be any problem with dropping in to say hello? Cheers Allan
  10. Thanks Jono for the maths lesson Those Muppets have a lot to answer for haha!
  11. "A lot of money has been spent on this stunning car. Priced to sell so be quick!!!" Fools and their money are easly parted. Is he trying to be funny about the " Priced to sell" bit "Be quick" hell yes and run the other way!!! Can someone enlighten me as to why he thinks it's worth 42,000 odd???
  12. We all can but dream. Last week a radio station were talking about this and they wanted it to be a sure thing. So they had an idea that about 5 mill spent on tickets would cover it, 28 mill then. But upon checking further they found out to cover all the possibilties it was going to cost 45 mill or their about. How true this is I don't know but the odds on having the right compo are very long but it must go this weekend. Will be interesting to see what level it reaches before their is a winnner /s. Good luck one and all.
  13. Is the front bumper available, spots etc.
  14. Who's next on the list looking at the film coverage last night parts of Japan got hit hard and then the Tsunami on top of it just to add to the carnage. The footage of the water as it moved in land was unreal the damage it did was total. Has anyone heard what the out come of the Tsunami warning in NZ was?
  15. [http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/BMW/auction-356932705.htm"] one lady owner, Topasblau Metallic prod date 2001-8-28 rego NZ 24-12-2001
  16. Well, well wait long enough and it will appear. This ticks almost all the boxes for me, colour ,NZ , manual, 6 cylinder, compact hopefully all the finish and assemble bugs the e36's had have been ironed out. The price is way over the top ( as mentioned)around $15,000 I would have thought but time will tell if it sells or not. Their was an auto one for sale in Chch for $12,500 done 96,000k's which I thought was a bit on the steep side also. In looking at e36 , 46 ti's the prices seem to be all over the place. The ti is not every one's cup of tea admittedly but after looking around for a while I feel they have a charm all of their own.
  17. What a waste of young life a sobering reminder of what is becoming all to common in NZ two youths one just 2 weeks off his 15th birthday and the other aged 20 killed when a car went out of control and rolled. Their were seven in the Telestar this happened about 4k's from my home. Then this evening I recieved this e-mail I went to a party, And remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mum So I had a Sprite instead. I felt proud of myself, The way you said I would, That I didn't drink and drive, Though some friends said I should. I made a healthy choice, And your advice to me was right, The party finally ended, And the kids drove out of sight. I got into my car, Sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mum Something I expected least. Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say, The kid that caused this wreck was drunk, Mum, his voice seems far away. My own blood's all around me, As I try hard not to cry. I can hear the paramedic say, This girl is going to die. I'm sure the guy had no idea, While he was flying high, Because he chose to drink and drive, Now I would have to die. So why do people do it, Mum Knowing that it ruins lives? And now the pain is cutting me, Like a hundred stabbing knives. Someone should have taught him, That it's wrong to drink and drive. Maybe if his parents had, I'd still be alive. My breath is getting shorter, Mum I'm getting really scared. These are my final moments, And I'm so unprepared. I wish that you could hold me Mum, As I lie here and die. I wish that I could say, 'I love you, Mum!' So I love you and good-bye. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) IS HOPING TO GET 5,000 SIGNATURES ON THIS, THEN PASS IT ON TO SIGN. If you receive this petition and do nothing but delete it, your selfishness knows no bounds. Signing is such a small effort to make. After you have read the poem, please add your name at the bottom. And never forget, DON'T EVER DRINK AND DRIVE , not even once, thinking that it won't matter. IT DEFINITELY WILL MATTER!!! So if you feel moved enough to sign let me know and I will send the e-mail to you Thanks Allan
  18. What would the cost of the air bag be any idea?
  19. That sounds very expensive for a bracket or am I out of touch with how much things cost these days
  20. Could one not use the front seat mounting points and extend a bracket out to carry the extinquisher and have the release mechanism bracket welded to it.

  23. Have to go a long way to beat a good British comedy and one with Ronnie involved. When I first say the title thought it was a cellphone problem and was going to say put it in a pie lol.
  24. While looking at a number of beemers for sale have noticed that not all are the same, no suprise I know . Even within a specific model type their still seems to be a wide variation ie; 318ti motorsport some have clears others do not, different types of steering wheels, some have m badges just to give you an idea of what I'm on about. Some of this would occur when being ordered I know but not all and how does one get to know what is bull dust and what is genuine. Is their any general guide line for this or is it all up in the air and beware of any thing and everything. Thoughts anyone and everyone Cheers
  25. "oooooooooo" how the young listen! +1 to what Ian said! I,m taking the piss I think it's called. It is great to wish to get these toys working on bmw's but surely if people who earn a living from or have years of experience in dealing with these items warn you it my be costly one would heed their warnings. But mans history shows that all the advancements made were sheer flucks or just plane "good luck". Caramel coated popcorn I hope Hotwire
