Found a few useful bits when clearing the shed... Brand new E39 sedan lower rear window seal (part # pictured below) $30 Brand new E39 hand brake shoes $75 Pair of brand new drive shaft safety loops (needed for cert on 2 piece drive shaft if adding any kind of FI or some engine swaps if power is higher than stock) $100 Some new average quality aftermarket 82mm badges $5ea (that's only 50c per bhp!!!)

We're selling our house in Ponsonby. Its RV is $1.3M more than we bought the house for 23 years ago. Yes, we're very fortunate (and work hard and planned ahead) but we're still sh-tting ourselves because a house with a bit more space locally will need the biggest loan we've ever had despite being all but mortgage-free right now. And, after nearly 25 years in Ponsonby, we don't want to move to f---ing Hamilton to live in our dream home!

Yeah, I've been watching their progress.

Anyone know where I can get something like these in NZ? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm?itemId=141649941425 Once the csi spoiler is on the 8 won't make it up standard ramps and I don't have enough room to have long ramps with a gentle incline. Adjustable ones look a good compromise. Doesn't have to be hydraulic.

Better start saving! The last set of 18"+ deep dish softlines I saw for sale went for around US$4k. Plus... Get in line!! Haha

Thanks. I've got both but has made me think that it might be worth me collating all the 8er stuff I've got in one post.

WTF?! Where? ... And how?
-
There were millions of them. Their unique now because they're sh*te and haven't survived and no one cares enough to keep them alive.

I'm in for a light cut bar (grey).

Much as I love E31s and am keen to encourage new owners to share knowledge etc, it's not a project car, it's a mistress! You don't get it to modify and it'll be expensive to maintain. But the weekend rides make it all worthwhile! With your skillet and innovation, Mike, I reckon the E46 is your best bet. If it's for track then the coupe if for fun then the touring. Either way you get a timeless car that's new enough that parts are cheap and the aftermarket parts market is massive. Unlike any of the big V12s. A manual 1uz Msport touring with custom headers and exhaust would be something else!!

Less than $500 including tips and shipping from eBay. I am hoping to get a set of used Ferrari 458 boxes once I determine whether they'll fit so mine will be up for grabs. I remember watching a vid of an E38 750i with the most amazing sound. Can't remember what setup they had but the M73 can really roar. If I can find the clip I'll post to your project page.

Seriously... They're sh*te.

The amount of times the intakes have been on and off I don't want to make it any harder to undo them!! Haha

It might be rare and collectible but still looks like a Austin Maxi to me.

Been waiting the best part of two months for these... And the rest of the bushings, etc I need for the rear suspension overhaul are en route... Not long now!

Just saw this. Awful. Hope no one was hurt, Amber... Although I'm less concerned with the wellbeing of the tailgater. Sh*t luck but as Josh says if she can be fixed, Ray will be the man to do it.

Glad you've decided to keep the blue interior. Love it or hate it (and I love it) the original Individual interior will make the car something special in the long run!
-
Nice looking car, not a csi though. Standard 850 with csi kit.

Don't we all. I just put it down to old age.

Looks awesome, Tony. Just needs a rear diffuser and it will be perfect!!

Probably Carl's 4L 840 sport. License plate GT840? It's lighter blue in person than this pic...

Instrument cluster change and tacho / ABS issues

Ask Josh (aka hybrid). He will know what you need to do. -
Repinned the broken MAF plugs. Some of the pins just wouldn't budge (even with correct AMP pin removal tool) so I ended cutting the plug off one side. In so doing I must have squished a couple of the pins as they wouldn't stay in the new plug when I connected it. Have fixed it but next time the plugs need replacing, so will the pins. Still, it'll be good for a few years!! Here's my best guess for wiring colours in case anyone else that has to do this. The wires were old and quite discoloured so please chime in and correct anything that looks wrong.
