Some more things to cross off the maintenance list. New rear discs and pads. Re-instated the wear sensor too. Very decently priced for the whole shebang through bmworkshop for gen ATE parts. Had an annoying issue with wind noise and a wee bit of water ingress through the rear door fixed window when washing the car, but thankfully not when raining. Was thinking it was the crusty window moulding, but turns out whoever replaced that window in the past didn’t use a thick enough bead of polyurethane. The glass was being held in tight by surrounding trims however not water or air tight. I was dreading having to cut the glass out but it just lifted right out. Put a pretty tall bead of polyurethane in an now she’s water and air tight.

Nothing healthy about your comments all through this thread dude. No need to be salty that someone bought a car for cheap and is selling it for a higher price. As mentioned the market will decide. If you have nothing positive to say then move on from this thread.

Am keeping an eye on this thread ?

The modules go fast usually. Needs to match your car depending on if it had asc or dsc. My 01 530i wagon has asc where as the M5 has dsc.
-
Try a new one. If issue persists replace with a new or repaired module. I can help get it coded to the car.
-
yeah my wagon does this only you need to ever so slightly wiggle the shifter over to the left as you move it down from N to D. Was quite bad when I first got it thinking I'd need to fix/replace but It seems almost non existent now. probably a combo of knowing the knack to it and the car being used much more often than it was with the PO.

Did you use silicone rtv sealant in place of the butyl tape that seals the door moisture barriers? If so that’s going to be fun to deal with when a door lock actuator or window regulator fails... You can test the moisture barriers are sealing with door cards removed, close door, hose on the outside of door window, open opposite door, check for water leaking out between the door and moisture barrier. If the carpets got damp and it was musty smelling chances are the foam under the carpet is still wet and growing mould/mildew.

Where did ya get the anti skid mat from? That will come in very handy!

The last all-motor M5 imo will definitely appreciate in value.
-
The black on black ‘murdered out’ look imo lacks contrast. The bbs wheels in shadow chrome or bronze I reckon would look a lot better.
-
Having both a 530i and an M5 and having daily driven both. They're the same in terms of fuel economy.

At a guess, drop another 10k on it in parts, diy repair restore and have a complete minter.

Castrol Edge less than half price at Supacheap

Yep agree with all that. But oil burning, as in oil being combusted in the chambers I just can’t see how hotter coolant temps affect that? ?♂️ It’s usually something not sealing oil out of the combustion chamber -

I'm not sure how high temps leads to oil burning ? I thought higher coolant temps were to aid in engine efficiency leading to better fuel economy. -
Car sounded great taking off!

Bit of progress. Front strut brace. + 3.3459521 KW Subframe bushes replaced with solid rubber units. This has made such a massive difference. 2 of the old bushes were starting to crack but still had fluid in them. The other 2 had ruptured. Pics of one of the ruptured ones:

You Should head along to the next Akl meet this Sunday out in Penrose. Be very keen to see this amazing interior.

that is so nicely done! I had an e39 m5 with a caramel interior. It had a quick touch up of the leather at some stage in its life and after using some mothers leather cleaner on it, i started seeing the colour of the cloth on the seats! I tried leatherique and that turned the leather all sticky which i assume was the touchup paint reacting. What you have done to your seats is exactly what I was planning to do, but then another M5 came along for sale. Haha. Well done!

Any guesses or info on how this happened??!?

“Major frontal fire damage cause by an alternator/component failure. Fire and smoke damage has also spread to the interior. Water damage from putting the fire out and loom cut during fire fighting efforts.” -
