  1. A lot of people forget that they only got 1500 hp out of these in qualifying mode, then swapped engines for the race. They were basically a hand grenade! Still a good achievement and probably the last time F1 was interesting!
  2. The sub title says it all "race car performane for much $$$$"
  3. Any bmw dealer should be able to get the service history off the key, including any recall work, not sure if they will charge you for that though.
  4. Do it. I cant in all honesty recommend it as a daily driver, only car sort of deal, they're not practical for everyday commuting, but they make up for it on the weekend! Mine has 130k and i didnt bother with the 3k mechanical warranty, i have done a throttle body actuator and im still $1500 better off! Worth getting someone who knows a thing or two to check it out first, especially uk imports. Have fun!
  5. Just trying to figure out if i can fit 6 bmws in my driveway! Im pretty sure the wife wont even notice another one at this stage
  6. I do about a 50:50 mix of motorway and city driving and it sits around 13-14, but i like the noise it makes and i dont mind spending a bit of money to hear it! The V10 is a whole other story.
  7. Do you have all the panels, bumpers etc, does it run ok?
  8. Its the most sensible car ive ever owned! Plenty of room for kids, safety up the wazoo, good for towing, better economy than a v10 M5!
  9. ^+1 go on, you know you want it!
  10. The old struts on my e39 did that when i pulled them out, there was still some gas pressure acting on the top side of the piston, and they both retracted into the shock body. Mine werent as bad as yours, i could pull them out by hand, but as soon as i let them go they went back in even if i held the strut upside down.
  11. A good repair should be acceptable, but you might want to contact a repair certifier before you bust out the mig welder! I have repaired a LOT of rust in my e21 and the certifier is happy as long as it is done to a good standard (no bog, he needs to see it, no overlapping patches- cut patches to fit properly and butt weld at the edges) Have fun
  12. And dont forget to crack a window or you will get very sleepy.....
  13. Finally got around to replacing a blown bulb in the e36 dash cluster, now i can see how far ive gone at night! Its only taken 2 years to get to it!!
  14. Yes, yes and yes I can see you trading up the 320d to this Graham! No one has asked if i want to swap for their Laurel/skyline/commodore yet!
  15. It LOVES gas! It sits on around 13.4 how i drive, about a 50/50 mix of town and motorway. I have had it down to 9.9 on a long haul, and someone with lighter feet could probably get that average down into the mid 12s. I will throw in part of a tank of gas for the new owner
  16. Now on TM, roll on the questions! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=985619405
  17. Also timing chain guides, rear subframe bushes, all 4 shocks, rear air springs, valley pan, etc. All the stuff i've done on mine!! plus mine is black leather throughout and 6 speed manual! Im after more than 3k for it though.
  18. He must have been half expecting it, he had the sunroof open for a hasty exit!!

    uh oh...

Have been driving the car for a couple of weeks now with 1 brand new unit and 1 original unit that i rotated the reduction gear 180 degrees in, and all works fine , Polley has replaced the component that failed on the board in the other original unit and it is on its way back to me, i will replace the gears in that unit and next time the manifold "has to" come off, i will test the rebuilt unit and if it is all good i will swap it for the original that is still in there. Fingers crossed!
  20. You must have used it for something otherwise it wouldnt have been missing!
  21. Have a feeling it was a 4-6 psi pump, which was fine for an M10b16. If you really want an M10 i have a spare 2 litre i could be convinced to part with.
  22. I converted one of mine to an electric diaphragm pump, if you buy the right pump you shouldnt need a pressure reg, they come in a couple of different pressure ratings. Just be careful mounting the pump, they can be a bit rowdy and really need good rubber isolation mounts. You will also need to run a relay and some wiring but im sure youre up to it! Not sure if it helps but i have a couple of old M10 fuel pumps that are just taking up space in my garage?
