  1. Its putting down nearly twice as much power as my 540i!Still not sure about it though, nissan gearbox, why?
  2. Or get a multi stage battery charger with a trickle charge mode and leave it connected.
  3. Yeah, that bush should be pressed in, no way you should be able to slide it out! Is there anything to stop the shock sliding off the mount once its in? If not, its pretty dangerous.
  4. Cams, head work, high compression pistons, all a good start and would cost more than the car is worth. If you are really lucky you might get 10 more hp. Im not saying dont do it, just be realistic about your budget and goals. Mine is also non lsd, i think it was still an expensive option on what was a relatively cheap BMW when new! If you are set on keeping the m44 you might be better off spending time making the car lighter and improving the handling! Good luck either way.
  5. You could try heating it up, metal expands when it heats up and it may be enough to get it over the pipe.
  6. I dyno'd my 540i at at 270ish km and it made 161kw atw, i dont know what it would have put down when new, but that seems to be in line withthe factory quoted power figure (210kw at flywheel) since then i have freshened the motor up and converted to manual, so my next dyno reading will be interesting! PS, my car gets 'cleared out' pretty regularly, with the odd bit of gentle driving, and seemed to be pretty well serviced before i got it.
  7. Would be a lot easier to put in a second hand compressor.
  8. The sls system still uses normal shock absorbers, are you changing the airsprings for normal coil springs and leaving the shocks, or going to a coil over setup? Pretty sure coilovers would need a cert, not sure about coils with standard shocks.
  9. So, basically what he wants is a fleet of cars powered by pixie dust driving themselves around 24/7 until someone needs them, rather than a fleet of cars parked up using no energy at all until someone needs them. Sounds like he's thought that through pretty well, where do i sign up?
  10. Im keen to grab those, can you hang on to them for a week or so until i get my wagon back?
  11. Would be kinda cool to be the first owner of a 91 M5, but kiss your money goodbye as soon as you put some kms on the clock! You would have to keep it forever.( not that it would be a bad thing)!
  12. Throttle body probably needs a good clean, also check for vacuum leaks.Rockers will need adjusting, good thing theres only 8! Thermostat change is literally 3 hose clamps! Sounds pretty decent as far as M10s go. Have fun!
  13. You will need to change the gearbox and get a driveshaft to suit. Shouldnt be too hard to find.
  14. The M10 is generally pretty bulletproof, like all engines it doesnt respond well to overheating so make sure the cooling system is in good nick, it will almost certainly leak a bit of oil, timing chain so no belt to replace, and no plastic parts to self destruct!! Is a 30 odd year old design so dont expect great performance, but it gets the job done.
  15. Drill and tap it to M6 then loktite a stud in there ?
  16. Mine sometimes leaks from the top of the rear glass, where it closes agaainst the body of the hatch, drips down onto the boot floor. Usually only in REALLY heavy rain. Have you had look at the seal between the hatch and the glass lid?
  17. You know that doesn't work, if it did you would be buying this!!
  18. If you have access to a welder, put an old allen key in and weld it to the bolt, the heat will help loosen it and it should undo!!
  19. I wouldnt mind a set for the e21 i am going to try and sell, but the shipping from Wellington will probably kill it. Let me know when you are ready to sell.
  20. You probably want to make sure it isnt just a worn bush ( or 4) before you throw money at new shocks, most decent suspension places will be able to put it up on a hoist and check them.
  21. quote name="FrancoisPV" post="538361" timestamp="1404290205"] http://www.mrpositive.co.nz/gel-cell-lead-acid-batteries/?gclid=CjgKEAjw286dBRDmwbLi8KP71GQSJAAOk4sjRIAaAGPlhrEIqwSF4sL01PV_emrkzzvFlA9102-Y3_D_BwE Wowsa, talk about heavy duty...priceYou dont want a deep cycle, they wont last in a car! I think the odessy style batteries are probably what you are after.i dont think they will be any cheaper though!! http://www.odysseybatteries.co.nz/
  22. Unfortunately most of the stuff you have pulled out is stuff that doesnt use much power anyway, you will still need as close to the original size battery as possible in terms of amp hours, have you thought about running 2 smaller batteries?
  23. Someone forgot to turn off the flux capacitor, then got it up to 88 mph??
