Driving my 530i Touring ( E39 ) last night, the last driver was the wife ( shorty ) and she was complaining about the seat sitting at a strange angle. Something is screwy - when I try to rasie the seat , it goes up on a strange angle. Was dark at the time, I used the iPhone torch to try and see what was going on, but could not see anything broken or jammed in the mechanisms. Is there a common failure on these ?? ( Fully electric adjustment seat ) Cheers ( sorry for the Pun! )

I am looking at doing this with a Peugeot 205GTi.. Total Noob to motorsport but see this as a great entry level way to get involved. I think your comment goes against the 'spirit' of the event, and if that is all they are interested in, perhaps a different class is more suited. Rules : 2.11: Should any one particular vehicle prove to have exceptional performance then the organisers reserve the right to introduce performance moderating measures to that vehicle, including but limited to time penalties or ballast.\ I hope this will turn out to be a great way for people to get into motorsport without the big wallets and egos, and just have some fun days.

I think the main issue you will have is the BMW screen is ten year old technology and really poor resolution.

I'm in Timaru, broadband been dropping for the last week or so. Rang them today ( took an hour on hold ) they said I had 15 dropouts from 7am - 8am. They didn't even blink an eyelid and just blamed my modem / filters. I am borrowing new gear today to see if that fixes it, but I doubt it, as it seems a countrywide issue. Unfortunatly will cost me too much to leave them at home, BUT I have just emailed them to cancel my busines broadband with them, small victory to me

The whole 'no insurance' thing bugs me. I don't like paying insurance premiums - specially since CHCH earthquakes and my house insurnace has gone to monthly what it used to be yearly ! BUT, if you decide not to have insurance, that is the risk you take. Lets face it, you are basically betting with the insurance company that something will happen to your house / car / contents, and they are betting it will not. It really pisses me off when after a car accident, house fire etc, these clowns end up in the paper with a sad face and story, and the do-gooders come out of the undergrowth and buy them new stuff !!! They made the deceision to risk it .... and lost !! Just like if nothing happens to my house ... I loose the premiums. /rant

I gave my wife a Galaxy 3 for a week to try, for a start she loved the big bright screen, but after that wore off, she put it down and went back to the 4s -- easier to text one handed and easier to carry along with the 24556776872 other things she carries around. Plus all her 80's music is on iTunes, I know it can be put on the Galaxy too, but at least she knows how to use the 4s Not sure what the comment about the iPhone5 being too lightly made is about ?? The 5s has an even thinner case ?? I have has a 5 since it come out, been dropped a few times etc, but still works 100% and looks like new - the Samsungs tend to look crap after one drop as the surrounds are plastic. I look at it this way ..... The iPhones are like German Cars, over engineered, but not too flashy, but just work. The Samsungs are from Korea, so they are like a Hyundai - Built cheap, plastic, flashy but in the end built to a price. ( Sits back and waits for flames ....... )

It has a gearbox personality problem ..... auction says Auto, photo 2 shows an auto, he rants about it being manual, and photo 11 shows a manual. Geez, imagine if half the 'people' on retardme had to work in retail where you have to have your adverts accurate !!

So, how do you get into the car ?? Climb in from the passenger side ?? That is a WOF failure surely ??

It IS worth the difference !! The car will pink and struggle on 91, the ECU will retard the spark to compensate, but poor power and fouled plugs can result. You wil save the extra cost at the pump back in economy, and definatly in less repairs / breakdowns. Think of it this way ...... would you rather drink Ranfurly / Lion Red, or a good quailty beer ?

They don't ...... it's the user that has the short 'life span' and are looking for something shinyer

Geez that makes me feel old. I can remember going to a car show in the early nineties I guess it was, and Totota NZ had bought over one of those Supras - it was SOOOO futuruistic and looked like a supercar on the stand. Here we are 20 yrs later and you can buy one for just over 10K !!
