  1. had a V36 skyline a few cars back, top spec 350GT. Fantastic engine and auto, but the driving experience and handling were drastically underwhelming. Drove like a rocket powered barge, even with the "sport" pack. Quick in a straight line, but roly poly in corners. It was also as dull as bricks to drive when not dragging people off from the lights. Open road driving is its thing though, i did 6 hours non-stop once and felt fresh getting out. All the in dash units are in japanese. not too hard to work out how to use (there are translated user guides online) but something to keep in mind. The plus side is that its very comfortable, can handle being 5 up easily, not terrible on gas, looks good, has nissan reliability, lots of safety things, and is sure to make you crack a grin when accelerating. C-Classes are unreliable turds, wouldnt bother. Alfas are hit and miss at best. My old 159 cost me more in repairs in the short time i had it than any other car. It was also only about 10 years old at the time and had serious rust issues (holes in the floor pan). Great engine and gearbox though. I second the recommendation of a 530D. Lots of torque, great to drive, typical BMW quality and comfort.
  2. i shouldnt have to. i have no intention of buying the car, but there is no reason for them to be hiding the rego (not putting it on the listing, and blanking the plates). Fresh imports i understand, but this clearly has plates on it.
  3. it pisses me off a lot when people selling cars, especially dealers, dont supply rego plate numbers on listings. A lot of ambiguity in this listing could be fixed if you knew the rego.
  4. also, if its an ///M they may restrict coverage because its a performance model.
  5. i still wish OBD2 recorded engine "hours". I bet heaps of them low KM imports would have sky high hours on the engine.

    Quick rant thread.

I find they refuse to do trade on cash sales, only if you put it on an account which sucks.
  7. haha so do i, bleeding heavy thing. This is tempting, although spendy. Whats the biggest engine its been tested to work on? How many amp is it?
  8. Always. Heck, if 161000km is considered high Km, we're all doomed. Ignorance is bliss as they say.
  9. fair enough, i saw the pictures of the car when it was forsale and the shell was hardly anything to write home about. Wasnt aware it was destined for the same treatment as the E34, so i guess that makes a bit more sense now.
  10. surely it wouldve been cheaper to get a replacement engine? Its not like the rest of the car is worth spending money on...
  11. i think having it a WOF failure if tyre age if over a certain limit would be easy to implement, check, and would knock a lot of this on the head quickly.
  12. Saw this car on the motorway the other day. Full Schnitzer kit, exhaust, mirrors etc. Looked pretty tidy, what a shame.
  13. Lawl, the front rotors on the SLS are a touch over 8K+gst each. Best not use those carbon ceramics very often.
  14. i should see what the carbon ceramic brakes on the SLS at work are worth, just for giggles.
  15. P3cars do something similar too http://www.p3cars.com/bmw/?sort=bestselling albeit more basic, but cheaper and easier for a quick glance
  16. The set of Yokohamas i just chucked on my daily only set me back about $600. i consider that cheap and theyre pretty good tyres. Personally, id rather a set of ling longs or triangles than a set of 10 year old goodyears or something. At least you know the chinese ones probably wont break apart, but the expired ones could.
  17. new tyres arent that expensive, and its not like they tend to creep up on you (unless they become damaged etc) and take a while to wear down enough to require replacement. I whole heartedly support policing the age of tyres. Old tyres with heaps of tread are no safer than tyres below the legal treat depth limit.

not from what ive found, a lot of NZ New cars have no options ticked too.... but looking at this, its like the owner looked at the "standard options" list and unticked the lot of them too.
  19. very nice, that CSI bumper makes a huge difference. Still one of the best E31s.
  20. Theyre bimmersport plate surrounds arent they?
  21. ugh, hope you could option it WITHOUT this fugly blue interior
  22. Sounds like something that might be in the owners manual?
  23. Rota Grids (not kidding)
