The logic of factory wheel bolts failing a cert escapes me. I believe the cert system is good for the most part, but that seems a bit stupid.

In my garage. Not everyone owns just JDM or Euro cars

330D... (expanded - needing a car for longish commute)

When everything works, they do make really good open road/long distance cruisers though. Very comfortable and I imagine they would be super stable on the Autobahn. -

IMO the N62 is a dog of an engine, with many well known, although serious, issues that they all seem to suffer eventually. Sure, you can fix them all one by one, but by that point you have spent thousands on just the engine, and havent even begun to work on the issues the E63/64 platform has. I'd take an E46, or even an E90, over another of those horrible land whales any day. Theres a reason you are finding them in your budget... -
My impression was that the person giving them away was hoping they went to someone that wanted parts for their car, not for some wanker to try and make a buck. Chucking it on trademe isnt "putting in the effort".

Doesnt matter what the market is doing, if the owner is happy to take a certain price 🤷♂️ (unless its over priced, but the seller will figure that out in time and also doesnt need someone harping on about it being over priced...)
-
I see its back due to the buyers finance falling through (bet that'll happen a lot now too). https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m3/listing/4420632073?bof=legWhr5l Already has some knob in the comments saying its worth more and to remove the $30k buy now. I dont know why people do that, if the seller is happy with $30k, let them do what they want.

Stop wasting your time and go buy a Corolla or something then. No one cares about your whinging.

Oh and if it's not been mentioned, get a decent set of flare spanners for brake pipes and the likes.
-
Its probably been handed off to Aramex or something. Try the tracking number in a couple of different carriers sites and see if it pops up.

I have a set, have had everything on them from a Classic Mini to my E63 650i. I paid about 2.5K for them about 6 years ago. They are very handy, especially for things you need a car level for, like trans servicing or tyre rotations. A+ will keep using them.

Nothing wrong with Ryobi for automotive, but I do agree the ratchet is a bit big; I have one and wish i didnt buy it. The rattle gun, drill, grinder, torches etc have all done me well. I have 5 genuine batteries (2x 5ah, 1x 4ah, and two smaller ones), none of them have any issues. Most are 4+ years old now, with regular use.

ive been beating on an old Fuller Pro 1/2" socket set for years, with no issues. My advice is to buy the best quality you can (within reason, dont go running to the Snap-On truck) or risk buying twice (especially when it comes to things like hex sockets; i bought cheap, stripped a hard to get at bolt and regretted my life choices; the Bahco hex socket i replaced the Supercheap one with fit 100x better in the head of the bolt). Regarding battery tools, its also worth seeing what else in the battery-ecosystem you want. I have Ryobi One+ 18v for everything, because I have a lot of tools now and they all use the same battery, including my lawn mower. I treat them hard, work on anything and everything and nothing has let me down yet. My go-to for tools for most work is my socket set, a ratcheting spanner set and a couple of good screwdrivers. I have most tools these days to do most jobs, but most of them i bought as I needed them.

Dumb question, but is the trans fluid level correct? Checked at the correct temp with the engine running. Id expect the trans specialist knows this, but it pays to ask the obvious some times.

Very interesting. I wonder if you can put it in a bag as it sets and pull a vacuum on it, if it would get rid of all the bubbles?

Probably related to this too https://www.thepress.co.nz/a/nz-news/350097168/no-photos-no-photos-sorry-you-parked-outside-newspaper

I do love a motorsport spec E36 in Estoril blue, even if it a lil stubby boi
-
Thats the one that HellBM built is it not? Just as aside, if the lowering springs were fitted after the cert, its technically in violation of its cert (would be certed for "OE" springs), and is a new digital cert so will be easy to check at WOF time.
-
IIRC the parking brake light can also be on if the brake fluid is low, so worth checking that or the sensor

+1 this. Got a pair of nice TRW rotors for my Honda for $40 each on clearance. Some real bargains to be had.

Theres nothing like driving an old BMW. When it works.

If you dont like the quote, go somewhere else. Dont whinge about it. You've said it yourself, you cant do the job yourself, so what your buy price and labour is, is irrelevant. The N46 is a dumpster fire of an engine, so you're lucky any mechanic that knows BMWs would touch it.

Thats pretty darn cheap, but man they look average without the Motorsport bodykit.
