I got shot of it ages ago, thank god. BMW uses the same bing bong for everything; door open? BING BONG. Ignition on? BING BONG. Critical failure of the active steering, causing the steering wheel to be on a 45deg angle whilst on a twisty single lane hill road? BING BONG. I had issues with the valve stem seals and smoking (very common, even turners knew to look out for it and refused to buy the car because of it), the active steering regularly thew its toys out of the cot, dynamic drive would sometimes throw errors, as would the engine. I think almost every time i drove it something would throw an error. I chased error after error fixing things until it kept the errors away long enough to sell it. It had about 130k on it. I took a hell of a loss selling it just to get rid of it. I've had a few BMWs now and generally liked all of them, except that one. Im sure not all of them are that bad, but ugh.

was already bent when i got the car, suspect it was probably done in metal folder. Its up there with one of the worst cars i've owned. Constant problems, all common, and ended up with PTSD hearing the BING BONG noise whenever i drove it. Horrible car, its no wonder people say BMWs are unreliable. It was nice to drive when it worked though 🤣

If you'd dug a little deeper you'd find a thread on here if it being sold previously. It has/had a lot of good bits on it but looks like its a fair bit rougher now than it was. When it was first listed by the current owner they had only recently got it from Turners, and had a bunch of warning lights on, so I'd go into it with eyes wide open. Its a heck of a car for not much money, but it could also be an incredible amount of pain since it has the N54 and no service history. I believe it says its a manual because its DCT, not auto.

I reckon they need a plinth or the plate curves and looks all gross. Sounds like you need a euro plinth and relevant sized plate.

You need to read up on what Valvetronic actually is before you start messing with anything. The N46 engine is a dog. Just drive it until it eventually terminally fails and then scrap it. Dont try to mess with it or "improve" it.

Don't own a bmw/euro if you don't want to be fixing leaks.

its worth whatever you're willing to pay. Its low KM, but thats not always a good thing (especially with imports), and its not a "desirable" model other than being motorsport.

Dash swap looks good, much better than the billy basic compact dash. With the shifting thing, did you use 6 cylinder shift linkage? The 4 pot linkages cause weird issues like that because theyre a different length.

I find him quite hard to watch, which is a shame because he tests some cool stuff. I think part of it is that I hate Kiwis. We look/sound terrible in everything we do 🤣

This means absolutely nothing. You need to do full to empty to full, and calculate the average over the distance to get something useful in l/100km or km/l. If it was using 15 litres in a couple of kilometers, you'd be fouling plugs, misfiring, chuffing black smoke or straight up just pouring petrol onto the road. Thats worse than my Rover which averages 23L/100km, and doesnt do any of the above.

Define "high". They're a underpowered engine for the car, with an auto, so will tend to use more fuel than a bigger capacity engine in the same car as it's working harder. Is it a new issue or has it always been like this?
