Rego says 1990. Realoem says January 1991. You can see what the reinforcements look like in my other thread. I had considered doing it the cheap way. But I'd probably have sleepless nights knowing that I hadn't done it properly. Was it obvious when it started ripping? Got all the measurement done so the new piece's will go in the right place. I've got a feeling it'll fit snug anyways and this might have been pointless

No not all 318 are lsd I think all 6's are 188mm. maybe 320's arent

Hopefully the auto is nice on it. It'll be about $600 for the front and rear cross members if you do bust in. Although i'm sure most people just bulk up plenty of weld in there and hope for the best. It's pretty scary that this car was being driven with the back end the way it was. Good thing the warrant man picked up on it. Here is the damage because that first photo didn't do it any justice. The front cross member is ready for unstitching. Subframes have been ordered from Coombes. Should be 7-10 days away. And getting reinforcement plates + other bits now from pelican

Valentines morning I woke up to a call from Captain transporter (excellent company to deal with). Car B was down the drive by 8.30. Here is how it looked: I purchased the car knowing it had ripped the floor holding onto the subframe. Being currently unemployed I thought what better time to have a go at something like this. By the way if anyone has any work please send me a pm. It's a 1990 Australian Import-can someone explain this. Manual and has white leather. Getting stuck in to a very romantic valentines day. Subframe and fuel tank were removed. Everything in the back end was inspected along the way. Now to the damage. Front drivers side subframe mount was torn out, rear passengers was the same and the other front bolt had snapped. The rear muffler is rather rattly so that will be replace with either a miltek or some home built item. Although the subframe and rear trailing arm bushes seem ok (hard to believe when only one bolt was holding the subframe in) but they will all be replaced. Rear shocks weren't tightened properly. Shock mounts are probably no good. Think i've got some new mounts around here somewhere. Rear tyres are bin material after driving around with large amounts of camber List to buy rear crossmember: 41118153949 front crossmember: 41118174049 front reinforcement plates 41002256495, 41002256496 rear reinforcement plates 41112256497, 41112256498 shock support 41148169027, 41148169028 front threaded bolt 33311136428 x2 rear bolt 33326760361 x2 Some sort of subframe and RTA bushes So the goal is to fix it up and reinforce the rear end. Lower it with some spare suspension I have lying around. Put the style 19's on it . And sell

No not all. 166mm lsd's are kinda rare There are plenty of 188mm ones around. I think theres a couple on trademe atm

I have found 'design and tuning high-performance fuel injection systems' by Greg Banish, and 'Performance Fuel Injection Systems' by Matt Cramer & Jerry Hoffmann, to be good reads I've also read 'how to tune and modify engine management systems' by Jeff Hartman. But this was a bit repetitive for me. Other books I don't feel are worth mentioning STM has training days every once and awhile that also might be worth a look at if you ar going to do it yourself

lower offset moves the wheel toward the guard

If your after the part numbers have a look at realoem.com. For installing the front control arm bushes you might need a press as said but there are ways around it The inner and outer control arm ball joints and the tierod ends could also do with a check in the front. In the rear the rear trailing arm bushes are worth checking as well

+1 to what MLM has said. This is rather important Josh I don't think your right about the s50/54 filter housing. It is purely temperature based and when it is up to temp it is all going to the oil cooler. The hole going to the filter either blocks the route from the oil cooler or sends it to the oil cooler This is the thermostat

If you increase the dynamic compression ratio on a turbocharged car are you wasting more air(and fuel)? I suppose you could say the same about that for dropping compression when you aren't on boost. I'll have to do some maths to find out what sort of overlap difference is needed to drop the dynamic compression to what it is with a lower compression m50 Cheers for the brain bump

At the very least an xbrace is a nice sump protector. OE strut brace.. like the e36 ltw one that is adjustable length? I'll jack up my car soon and see if I can still get my strut brace on. Would be nicer to check with another car that doesn't have a roll cage I'm not sure if I did feel a difference or not. With all the time spent putting it on i'm sure my brain had to say yes it has to save me from disappointment. Will need to find some sort of strain gauge and a logger to realy find out if it is useful and when

Sounds about right Can you say more about the headgasket making process? These engines seem hard enough to seal with the 'proper' cometic head gaskets

I'll do the maths for you if you cut me out one as well What pistons crank and rods are you using? I've got an m50b25 vanos head I can cc for you. I'd recommend going for an iron block. Mostly only found in m50 form You could just copy the mls gaskets that come out of the states from cometic .120" seems to be the usual thickness. I'd of thought a copper gasket of that thickness wouldn't take the beating
