  1. There are massive changes between 1995 and 1999 cars in all departments with electrical e38,e39,x5 architectures. My advice first is to make sure you can work out whats running properly in the car first. Then when you migrate everything over you can be assured its going to work in your current car. Also the EWS system will be quite different and as will the key, Tom will be able to help you with that or there are OEM ways to do key alignments if you want to keep it OEM. You may be looking at swapping out the locks and steering lock setup as well. the IKE,DME,GM,LKM,EWS,ABS are some of the main modules youll need to consider .. probably more. I havent worked on the v12 electronics before in this architecture.
  2. I heard flared arches get you the same power too? might be trying too hard though
  3. Some photos. Also .... tony's car is now s50b32 quick very impressed.
  4. but people dont, so you need to resort to have a rule or their are no rules. Anyways it doesnt matter cause akl/wlg motorway driving isnt going to change so no point getting angry about it ... just sit in the traffic and take it.
  5. Why would you want to get rid of a classic for a run of the mill z4 ?

  9. Happy Will ? Thanks uncle ray. Also, oh yea ... panty dropper mod to the 540 right hurrrr
  10. Used them once (S&S) ... never again .. They fitted non factory glass which was very distorted. And left all of the broken glass still in the door. When you closed the door you could still hear it in the sill. Next few times (yes same car (330)) I went with JCBMW and just got factory glass and no issues. In all times nothing was actually stolen from the car, metal tints for the win.

This is where my motorway bulldozer idea comes into play. Stopped for more than 5 mins an motorway bulldozer sorts you out good and proper.
  12. The owner builds and races car the Goldern Holmes M3. Its the real deal.
  13. How not to f**k around on a build. epic.
  14. Yeah, I have some other plans for this ... and instead of painting it .. im replacing the whole wiper assembly with the below DTM wiper motor I have stashed away. Once thats done im going to cut down an e39 wiper and will be able to finally do my single centre wiper conversion + = Whats slowing me ? see that plastic cover behind the firewall .. I have to remove all of the wiring behind that ... *sigh*
  15. Why stop there ... just do this an be done with it .. not sure if street compatible though
  16. I know ... took me a bit to get use to it ... might have to get a ton of Dapper & M stickers in there
  17. Changed the intake pipe colour. + =
  18. Went for a hoon in this when I was down playing a concert when Atta owned it. Was a good kick in the pants off the lights. Sounds great. Pity the BBS RS' arent with it any more. Its had all the right work done to it. It had some extra work done to the brakes and cooling when Atta owned it, few teething issues but had been sorted.
  19. This ... or if you want more wear eg a bit more of a touring tire and want to keep the handling then you cant go past the Michelin Primacy HP.
  20. Haha cheers Michael. Had my fair share of mess ups too. All part of the learning process I guess. In the build thread ... http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/24294-operation-weapons-grade/page-21#entry334460
  21. Everything is subjective, including any claims of HP gains, it all depends on the circumstance. This is a sales trick for noobs. Pod filters only work if you have a sealed cold air box around it with adaiquite air supply into the box at max RPM. The problem with most pod filter applications is people remove the filter and box setup. This is a bad thing because instead of your engine sucking in cold air it is sucking in warm/hot air form your engine bay. All modern ECUs which measure air temparature will retard ignition etc as the air temp goes up. This is a safety reaction to stop pre-ignition in the cylinders. Ideally you want a flat filter to evenly distrubute the air across the MAF sensor. However this is minimal and in real world examples dont make much difference in a normal NA setup. Something like the M3 CSL filter which is inside the carbon airbox it is more critical, because it is closer to the intake plenium chamber where swirling or uneven air pressure is more of a problem. The M3 CSL isnt tuned using a MAF so can get away with this setup more practically. Here is mine, A 89mm pod filter with cold airbox (pod obviously inside the box). My engine is dynoing slightly higher than stock @ the same ambient air temps. Mine is a Simota brand which Ive had in the car for 4 odd years now and its been awesome. K&N at the time didnt do a 89mm pod filter so I went with these guys. Been impressed. http://www.broomfish.co.nz/shop/index.php?cPath=500_580_591 I would like to build a carbon airbox type setup with flat panel filter system .. There are some companies who make this type of setup for my engine, but it is very very expensive. It would only improve the look and sound in return. I would also need to realitically retune for Alpha-N instead of MAF.
