on alloy threads do it by feel ... you can feel when youve tighten it enough. Never had a problem with a bolt backing off using this method, even on an engine environment. Beats stripped threads. Most factory torque settings are for brand new metal. Something to keep in mind. Also especially on alloy, thread surface deformation is a real issue if your bolting and unbolting a lot. If youre having issues getting a bolt to not seating itself you can always glue the bitch in with loc-tite. Its better than a busted thread. You can use the weak sauce loc-tite for this.

Would you date someone because of what car they drive?
hybrid replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in Off-Topic
lol ... actual lol ... Nah mate the cars not going anywhere.. On a side note, when I met my wife and started dating, she was a little bit disappointed the fact I owned a BMW, she hated them. But then, slowly as the years went on .. she gets in another car brand (pick any) and hates it because they "dont drive like a BMW" Also, her idea of a fast car was a WRX STI or a RX-7 bat. I respectfully patted her on the head. When the e30 was finished took a few of her car hood heros on and munched them. So shes now educated and down with the m3 donk All her family think its quite funny (cool) her daily is a v8 now too. She drove my dads new 2015 volvo the other day, comments ... "lets stick to BMWs"....... My job here is done. -
Sounds Sounds proper now! nice going.

Seems the same as the s50 weight wise and handling / direction ... Maybe a tad more forgiving being softer (which is a great thing on the road) Brakes are awesome .. impressed. For me its the way to go for an engine swap on a budget for an e30. Can't beat it. Tony I think its only fair you should take mine for a good drive. Well swap cars on a run for a while. I keep forgetting to offer some people to drive it

Its been interesting decoding the data streams from older Bosch ECUs .. they're definitely different than Siemens ECUs. Enjoyed the challenge. So what do we have here, e30 shell full e46 running gear, half e46 electronics half pre-fl early e39/e31 with m62b44. Maximum win.

BMW scanner only does early chipsets and not the more modern ones EG facelift e39/46 architecture. Send Tom a PM as he has the proper tools to do it.

to be fair tom all that requires is media blasting and a repaint and it will be right as rain. you could even fill the pitting if needed. This is a before and after of my brake booster. Before & after

Well this is why I started looking at weather maps myself. Its actually pretty easy with the rain radar and external infrared cloud & sea surface temprature maps you can get a various weather sites. I dont do it all of the time but only when it counts EG cyclone. With the rain radar I made some notes on the speed and intesity of the wind and rain on the last few that went through and it helps calibrate how bad any forecoming ones are. Works a treat and I dont have to listen to dumbed down waffle out of met service.

hell be fine, it will be far south east by then...

You need to update the checksum too tom or else you get a checksum read error in the cluster .. which doesnt bode well if your getting your k's checked when selling the vehicle.

will be wet and windy ... But I don't think its going to be all that bad (compared to what Vanuatu just got) its lost a lot of grunt in our cooler seas. Gisborne area is going to cop it however. The last of the arms will condense in the hills and drop a lot of rain.

You would have a very hard time convincing a cert engineer thats gonna work for the road (If you can find one at the moment in AKL, there is only 1 or 2 operating now). Anything to do with steering requires quite the engineering report and testing. All costing a lot in time/labour ... its still cheaper to get the real thing.

Oh to be young again .. Thats your experience, but unfortunately not all experiences are the same ... there are plenty of others that haven't turned out so well .. Including a current M5s for sale at the moment. It is all dependant on where you live and how much the car was taken out in it or washed afterwards. It also depends on weather the cars rust protection has been damaged and ignored. Its the same with singapore import cars .. lots are lemons some arent.

Here is some research I did when looking at N54B30xx 335 tourings. * Both Turbos, Do they exhibit turbo waste gate chatter, If so is it the waste gate actuator valve and or turbo spindle. This is a large repair if it would happen and is a common fault on all N54B30 engines 60-80ks * Coils have they been replaced, when *Plugs have they been replaced, when * Injector faults * Sump leaks, gearbox and diff leaks * Electric water pump need replacing every 50-60ks * High Pressure fuel pump replacing every 50-60ks * Oil in the intake, sooty plugs and intake manifold .. needs cleaning with walnut and vaccum. Awesome engine and performance, however do come with the issues that go with it. BMW ditched the N54 in place of the N55 single turbo design from about 03/10. Lots of design changes to fixes some of the first gen issues. My experience with pre-purchase inspections hasn't been good. Most will just tick the boxes and charge you the $160-200. Something I could have done myself. BM Workshop is the source of great information and Ross @ Botany really has had the experience to I think comment on these car now. The other dealers tech departments usually leave it up to the lackies to do the PPIs which is why I think the quality of service over the last few years has dropped.

A fine isnt actually a demand of payment by law. It is in fact contestible in a court of law. So you dont have to pay the fine, it is well within your rights to contest it. Weather you you can proove it in your direction, can be bothered or is it worth your time is the catch 22.
